"Just because you're a Harper doesn't mean I won't hesitate to rip your throat out," Jasper snapped, finishing his coffee and pushing the empty cup back onto the table. He didn't know what to say after that, admittedly a little disgruntled by Rose and her fiery friend. He hated it when people thought they were better than others because of their family connections. Sure, Jasper did it a lot, but he was also a horrible hypocrite. Oh well. He'd get over it. Running his hand through his fair, he thought for. Minute before pursing his lips and adding, "so what brings you to Beacon Hills, Jamie?" If Rose had told him, he couldn't remember. He just wanted to get back to safer conversations.

"Woah, you two need to calm down." Jamie said, raising her eyebrows at the pair of them, Jamie didn't know much about the feuds Rose's family had with others but this one seemed to be kind of obvious. Surprisingly grateful for Jasper's question, Jamie went ahead and answered it. "It's not very fun not knowing anyone else with supernatural abilities so, my family decided to move... also, Chicago is really cold." Jamie shrugged, biting down on the piece of gingerbread that Rose had given her, she wasn't a huge fan of ginger surprisingly but it was a friendly offer.

"If you were to rip out my throat your whole family would be dead before you could utter the word sorry." Rose hissed, eyes turning cold immediately. She needed to work on dealing with threats, clearly. Rose shut up for a bit then just listening to her cousins brief explanation, an explanation Rose too was curious about.

Jasper wasn’t entirely sure how to react, knowing that Jamie would be annoyed if he continued the arguing, and yet his pride was refusing to drop the matter with Jamie’s threat – which, truth be told, was about as worrying as a sixth month old puppy playing fetch – and besides, the words were out of his mouth before he realised what he was saying. “Aw, hon, you honestly think I’d apologise. That’s cute.” Rolling his eyes, he turned his attention back to Jamie, greeting her with a smile, something he hadn’t bothered to even offer Rose.
“Chicago? Can’t say I’ve ever liked the place… No offense. It’s too windy, not that the weather here is that much better. Lots of supernatural though, unfortunately – I don’t really understand why you’d see that as a plus.” He shrugged lightly, fingers lightly drumming against the edge of the table. There really wasn’t that much to Beacon Hills. Sure, it was interesting most of the time but, then again, it was usually people like Jasper that made it interesting… You never knew when you were sitting, having coffee with a killer.

"No, but you know, there's always the option for some self-development with you... maybe." Rose replied, finishing off her half of the gingerbread man then. Why had she had to make the conversation turn so heated so quickly? It was just one of those things Rose knew she needed to work on - as well as the rest of her life. Waiting for Jamie to respond, Rose cast her gaze back outside, watching the people walk by, wondering if they knew that sitting at the table in front of the window was an alpha, a fox and a frustrated teenage girl who could kick ass.

"Trust me, I'm not going to defend Chicago, I wasn't born there; I was born in Ohio... I can't remember it though." Shrugging Jamie looked over at Rose to see if she was alright. Jamie knew Rose could be tough but how long would it be until Rose eventually broke one day? Jamie just hoped that would happen in the future and not anytime soon. "So, Jasper, tell me about Beacon Hills, is there anything fun to do around here?" For now it seemed easier to stick to simple small talk.

"Depends what you find fun," he replied with a shrug, thinking for a minute about what you could actually do. That was the thing about living somewhere for a long time, you tended to forget what there was to do because you took it all for granted, it didn't seem as new and exciting when you could just go and do it whenever you wanted. "There's an ice rink," he decided after thinking for a minute, "bowling alley, the mall can be fun if you're the kind of person that's into retail therapy and window shopping. Uh, there's a rental store if you want to have a night in watching films, but I usually just buy them... So..." He trailed off, slowly running out of things that there were to do. In reality, there wasn't really that much to do, and making your own entertainment was sometimes a lot more enjoyable than sticking to what the town had. "Did I miss anywhere, Rose?" he asked, trying his best to be civil, mainly just for Jamie's sake.

Finding herself nodding along to Jasper's words, Rose turned her attention back to the conversation at hand. "This conversation makes Beacon Hills sound so boring," which it was quite often if you were limited as to what you could do with other people. "I think you covered everything apart from the woods. Though you have to be careful there." Rose said, finally coming up with something else to do. For other such as going to the beach you needed to drive out of town maybe even out of the county, Rose didn't really know what was out of the county though, she rarely left.

"Beacon Hills is kind of boring," Jasper insisted, shrugging his shoulders. The reality was that the only thing that made Beacon Hills even kind of interesting were the people, and that was only because most of them didn't get along. Well, they did, but not very well. Besides, it only really took one manipulative person to alienate an entire group of people, so the drama was always kind of interesting. The town, on the other hand, not so much. "The woods aren't even that scary," he quickly added, rolling his eyes at Rose's comment about being careful. The only thing to fear out there were the supernatural (maybe the occasional rabid ax murderer too, but that was very, very rare), and as long as you were also supernatural, what was there to worry about? Jamie looked like she could handle herself, anyway, so what was there to worry about?

"I know that," Rose responded quickly, scolding herself from showing some kind of protectiveness. "Better be careful than dead though. Besides, the woods are only fun if you go with someone else." That was true, Rose had only been to the woods a couple of times by herself and had quickly left, finding herself surprisingly terrified by the whole thing, they were no Disney woods.

"I find they can be kind of fun when you're on your own," Jasper insisted, "just depends what you're trying to do." The corner of his mouth creased into a half smile as he glanced over at Rose, his gaze switching briefly from the table to her and back again, not really focusing in on anything in particular. In truth, Jasper was kind of bored of the mindless small talk, and was honestly either wanted to talk about something interesting, do something interesting, or just leave all together. He didn't cope well with boring situations... His attention span was just a little too low. After a pause, his gaze drifting back up to Rose again, "some people are scared by them though, I guess. I don't know why, there's no such thing as the big bad wolf."
