Mason finally got himself out of bed refusing to tell his family where he was going. He found the girl Sophie ' s address from the insurance papers and so he found It it wasn't far. After he struggled to get down stairs which he had to be extra careful not to fall Mason began walking.
When he got to the house he suddenly became afraid he debated walking away but decided against it hesitantly he knocked on the Door and waited for someone to answer.

It had been a week or so since the accident, Sophie and her parents were preparing for their daughters funeral, Sophie was making a job of staying out of their way, unable to stand the loss in their eyes, she knew it was only matched in her own. Hearing a knock on the door, Sophie flicked off the TV and went to open it, pausing first to look out of the window beside the door, they'd had enough free food for them to not have to cook for a month. Seeing that it was Mason, Sophie paused for a moment before pulling open the door. "Mason," was all Sophie said, she'd learned his name before the crash but had never really had a boy behind the name, now she knew who he was.

Mason looked at the girl he had never meant a her but yet Mason had destroyed her life probably. "I um I just I wanted to I mean I know that I will never make up for what I did or the pain I caused you and your family...I just I wanted to let you know that I was sorry and I wish I could trade places with you. " Mason said. He eventually looked down at the ground figuring this was pointless. I

Sophie listened to what he had to say carefully, her attention fully on him. "No, you don't wish that you could trade places with me... with us. But it's okay." Sophie told him, running her hand over the handle of the door. "And I appreciate you coming here." Sophie added after a moment, twisting the door handle so that it clicked. Sophie had nothing else to say, well, she did but she didn't want to.

Mason sighed when the door closed. He began walking toward his house which was really hard with crutches. But instead of walking to his house he walked to the motel that Pierce was staying at. Mason decided to go see Pierce instead of going home because he wanted to spend some time with him.
Mason knocked on the Door and waited for Pierce to answer.

Pierce was just chilling out, actually not smoking for once in his life. Ever since Mason's accident, he hadn't been getting high as much as he normally did. He heard someone knock on his door, and he wondered who it was. It wasn't like he was expecting anyone. He paused his television and then got up to answer the door.
He smiled when he saw Mason. "Hey there," he said. "Come in." He let Mason come in, helping him the best he could, and then he closed the door behind him. "Is everything okay?" he asked, not sure why Mason was there.

Mason wrapped his arms around Pierce. "I apologized to Sophie." Mason said. His crutches accidentally fell when he hugged Pierce though. He was trying to keep his balance but was failing.

Pierce slipped his arms around Mason, doing his best to keep the boy upright. "That's great," he said. Then he picked Mason up a bit and took him over to the couch. He pulled Mason closer to him, enjoying having him close.

Mason leaned his head against Pierce's shoulder and took his hand. "I feel bad because I wouldn't want to lose Lia...but yet she lost her sister because of me." Mason said. He fought back tears and just watched the tv.

Pierce nodded. "I know," he said. "But at least now she knows how terrible you feel. How did she react to it?" Pierce hoped that the girl wasn't too mean about it, but there was always the chance that she just blamed him and refused to accept his apology. Hopefully that didn't happen though, since Pierce knew that it would only make Mason's guilt worse.

"She said it was okay but I still feel bad I still wish I was the one dead." Mason said. He began fidgeting around with his hands trying to get the feeling to go away.

Pierce sighed. "I'm glad you're still here," he said, a little quieter now. Pierce wasn't sure what he would have done if Mason hadn't survived the crash. Everything felt like it was falling together finally, and if that had happened, it all would have come apart again.

Mason sat quietly for a moment. He sighed and thought for a moment. He'd rather be dead but the more he said that the more people got upset. "I'm sorry." Mason said quietly feeling like he should say something.

Pierce just stayed quiet for a moment, trying to think of something that he could say. But he just turned back to the television and watched it for a moment. "You know I care, right?" he said finally.

"Yeah so does Lia and Nate and Preston and my parents they all fare except me I don'." Mason pulled away. "You've never killed anyone you don't know what it's like." Mason said. "The guilt it eats you alive and no matter how much you want it to stop it never will. You will always have that guilt."
