Mason laughed but it was short lived with Lia and Preston coming back. Lia ran up to them when she saw Pierce and Mason smiling. "Pierce!" Lia yelled walking up to them.

Pierce hugged Lia, just because he was the kind of person that hugged everyone. "Hi," he said. He glanced at Mason, winking a little when he knew his family couldn't see. This whole secret thing wasn't a whole lot of fun, but the little inside things they did made it slightly more enjoyable.

"Howre you feeling Mason?" Lia asked.
"Better. " now that Pierce is here Mason added in his head. He wanted to hold his hand but couldn't because his family was there. "Wait where's mom and dad...?" Mason asked Preston cause he was the oldest and probably would know.

"Work," Preston answered. "I called them though. They said they'd get here as soon as they could." Preston was used to being more of a man of the house, considering how much their parents traveled and worked.

Mason nodded at leat his family was back in town. His parents worked a lot. He nodded and looked over at Pierce.
Lia smiled a little. "Don't worry they'll come. They have to check you out the doctors want to keep you over night but they said I still have to go to school tomorrow what kind of parents do that." Lia said with a a smile trying to make her brother feel better.

Preston laughed a little. "You don't have to go to school tomorrow," he said. He was Lia's ride to school anyways, and he had no intentions of driving them the next day. If Nate or Lia wanted to drive themselves, that was their deal. He knew Nate would go though, since he'd had perfect attendance since preschool.

Lia grinned widely. She looked over at Pierce. "How'd you get Mason to talk?" Lia asked.
Mason smirked. "Because he's cooler than you." Mason said.

Complications. That was never a good thing, was it? No one ever used the word 'complications' when something went well, did they? No. Because a complication was shitty, and confusing and just made things harder, and this was no different for Blake, who was currently so nervous he could barely breath, which was strange, because he'd always been a relatively calm person when it came to his own life. Still, there was something slightly terrifying about being in a car crash, and he really couldn't help the nauseated feeling that was creeping into his stomach, writhing and twisting in the silence, the anxiety starting to grapple him until he was forced to squeezed Braydon's hand even harder, wishing more than anything that he could crawl into the bed with him and hold him until everything got better. But life didn't work like that, did it?
He honestly wasn't sure how long his mum left him in suspense for, or if she even knew that's what she was doing. The silence didn't seem to be in order for people to guess what was wrong - it seemed to be because his mum, even his mum, had lost the ability to form words, her mouth opening and closing as she struggled to say something - anything - that would explain to Blake what was going on. When she did speak, a broken sob manage to erupt from her throat before any words, and yet she still managed to talk.
"When they checked for the aneurysm, they - they found something else.. An abnormality and-" she cut herself off, voice cracking completely as tears pricked at her eyes, nervous breath rattling through her chest as she gasped, a failed attempt at pulling herself together for one more minute to explain what was happening. She couldn't, hell, it looked like she couldn't even breathe, hands shaking as they moved to cover her face, now insisting of sobbing violently into her hands. It seemed they weren't going to find out what was wrong. That was, until a small voice from the other side of the room, his dad speaking for the first time since he'd entered the room. He wasn't quite crying like mum was, but you could see it was only because he was trying not to - knuckles slowly turning white and they grasped hold of the handle of a medical instrument Blake had never seen before in his life. Blake's face fell, torn between tears and panic as his dad finally finished, "and they think it might be cancer."

Braydon felt so many things at once angry, upset, heart broken. He felt almost everything once but he willed himself not to cry when he heard what it was. He squeezed Blake's hand. He had no words and found himself staring at the wall again for getting everybody but Blake was in the room. He felt like someone was going to take Blake away from him. Braydon had already watched his aunt and grandma die of cancer he didn't want to Blake to die and Braydon was terrified that he would but he tried to hide it because he had to be there for Blake.

Blake just froze, grip on Braydon's hand temporarily going limp as he stared blankly at the wall in front of him, the word ringing in his ears like tinnitus, recurrent and deafening and so completely overwhelming that he felt like he couldn't breathe - breathing catching in his throat a few times before he pulled it together again, head snapping back to reality for long enough to look around the room, eyes slowly turning glassy as he swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat and refused to cry. Not here, anyway. Taking a sharp intake of breath, he attempted to get out of bed, which only ended with a small squeal of pain, causing him to slum back into his bed again, teeth grinding together as one hand pressed against his side, almost as if he expected the pressure to make it hurt less. It didn't. Finally, he managed to speak, shakily stumbling over his words as he whispered, "I need some air, and maybe a wheelchair," and to not have cancer, he added in his head, although he wouldn't dare say it out loud.

Braydon nodded he stood up and asked the nurses for a wheel chair. He came back with it and helped Blake onto it. "Do you want me to come with you?" Braydon asked. He wanted to give Blake space if he wanted it.

"Yes please," Blake whispered in reply, taking a second to discretely pull his iv out of his hand, knowing he was likely to get into trouble for it later on, but right now not really caring. He'd done stupider, more reckless things before and survived, so what made today any different? Offering Braydon a nervous smile, he wrapped his arms around himself anxiously, fingers drumming against his arm as if it would somehow calm him down and make everything to go back to normal. That's all he wanted, normality. He didn't want to have to worry about whether Braydon was going to fall off the edge again, or question whether the next time he got into a car he'd end up in hospital, and he definitely didn't want to have to think about that fact that he had cancer, and was probably going to die.

Braydon walked silently with Blake outside. Braydon knew the hospital inside and out so he took Blake to the most peaceful place he could think of.
When braydon got to the garden outside where hardly anyone was he sat down on the bench witj blake in front of him. "Blake I wish I wish I could make things better but you're gonna get through this and I'm gonna be there to be help and I can promise you that." Braydon said quietly.

Blake still didn't say much, contemplating trying to get out of his chair and join Braydon on the bench before just decided to fuck it, gritting his teeth together as he stumbled out of the chair and somehow made it to the bench, collapsing on to it, eyes briefly closing as he got over the pain of moving. He wasn't sure what was actually making it hurt, but he figured it couldn't have been anything too serious. If it was, his parents would've told him before dropping the c bomb, right? He sure hoped so. Leaning his head on Braydon's shoulder, he reached for his hand again, doing his best to steady his breathing before finally replying, "but what if I do actually die?" It was morbid, he knew that, and there was a slight crack in his voice as he spoke. Still, it was words, which was more than he would've managed had he still been in the room with his parents. His eyes started threatening tears again, but he did his best to blink them away, knowing crying definitely wouldn't solve anything.

"You're not it's gonna be fine don't think of that. " Braydon said. He wrapped his arm around Blake. He kissed the top of Blake's head. "It's gonna be fine." Braydon said. He wasn't sure who he was trying to reassure though. He wanted to cry but he couldn't not in front of Blake. Blake had enough going on.
