Skylar smiled a little. "Yeah," she said. She tried to think of something else to say, but nothing came to mind. So she just sat there in silence, thinking over the events that just happened. She'd finally managed to tell the boy she'd been in love with for years that she did, in fact, love him, and then he proceeded to have a mini-breakdown. It wasn't exactly the turn of events she'd hoped would happen when she decided to finally tell him, but it surely could have been a lot worse. He didn't decide to hate her for it, which was something she'd feared happening, so that made everything okay, right? Sky decided that it was.

"Yeah," Jasper echoed, slouching back in the chair slightly, having no idea what to say either. He knew that it was probably about time to change the subject, but he really wasn't in the mood to make jokes or pretend everything was okay. He just wanted to sleep, or - or something. He didn't actually know himself. It was kind of like he just wanted time to stop for a minute so he could stop and catch his breath, at least for long enough that he could at least pretend he understood what was going on. He just needed head space, he decided, but had none. After another few minutes of uncomfortable silence, Jasper finally spoke up again, "can we pretend this never happened, please?" He didn't know what he'd do if anyone found out - determined that his reputation at school was the only thing not being ripped away from him right now.

Skylar glanced down at her hands, fiddling a little with the bandage she had on her one hand. "Pretend it never happened?" she said, more thinking out loud than responding. "Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? I mean, acting like everything is okay isn't going to fix anything, J." J. Skylar hadn't called him that in years, but somehow it slipped out so naturally. Skylar didn't think much of it, though, since she'd said it without thinking.
"I mean, I'm not going to go tell everyone we know that you're struggling or anything, but you can't just keep doing the same thing and expect things to get better," she said, hoping that maybe Jasper might actually listen to her for once. He could only help himself, but maybe she could push him in the right direction.

"It also doesn't break anything, S," Jasper replied simply, as if that was the obvious reason to just ignore everything that had gone down. Jasper tended to live his whole life ignoring what was going on or had gone on in hopes that it'd suddenly undo itself and disappear. Life didn't work like that, he'd already figured that out for himself, and yet he was very happy to pretend it did. Why face your problems when you could deny their existence completely? "But, I know you're right - and Rose and I are fixing it slowly... But thinking about it and dwelling over it isn't going to help, right? I may as well just get on with things and pretend nothing's going on, that way no one else has to worry." He shrugged his shoulders like it was the perfect reasoning to ignore reality, even he wasn't even sure if it made any sense at all. Jasper had an amazing ability to ramble and make no sense when it suited him - especially when he was trying to convince himself of something.

Skylar sighed, nodding. "Alright," she said, deciding that maybe Jasper was right. And even if he wasn't, it wasn't like he'd ever take the time to actually consider changing his plans. "I just wish there was something I could do to help, you know?" All Skylar really wanted was to make some contribution to fix Jasper's situation, but of course there wasn't anything that she could do that wouldn't just damage things further. She wasn't a part of his world, even if she wanted to be. To him, she was just someone to occasionally distract him from all of the rest of the supernatural world. At least, that's what she was staring to feel like.

"There's nothing anyone can do, really," Jasper replied with a shrug, admittedly a little gutted to admit that that was the truth. Everything that could possibly be done had already been done or couldn't be done, which left Jasper with not that many options other than sitting, waiting and hoping that Levi turned up again, even if it took months for her to come out of hiding. He refused to acknowledge the idea that she'd actually been kidnapped or captured, almost as if denying it made it any less likely to be what happened. "It's nice to know you're there know - you'd be surprised how many people have already written me off as a rich, pretentious douchebag with a knack for sarcasm." He offered a small smile, although he doubted it'd help.

Skylar laughed a little. "Oh, I've definitely already written you off as exactly that," she said. "Only difference is, I really don't give a shit." Probably because you're the only person alive that will put up with me, she thought. Skylar smiled at him, happy that he actually appreciated her presence, since sometimes she wondered if he actually did or not. She was also glad that he hadn't started treating her any differently...yet. Hopefully he never would, but Sky had her doubts on that one.
