"I honestly don't know where to start," Jasper replied quietly after a few minutes of silence. Did he tell her about Levi first? About his uncle? About the fact that his mother had suddenly gone from social recluse to hermit with an alcohol problem? Hell, he could even tell her about Iris, he supposed, although he was fairly sure that was the last thing she wanted to hear about. She didn't care about his love life, especially not when it didn't concern her. Finally, he found something to say, even if it was after a couple more minutes of nervous silence.
"Levi's kind of, uh, missing," he struggled, immediately taking a sip of his coffee as if it would work as some kind of distraction, "and I'm not sure if my mum's even alive anymore because she hasn't actually left her room in three weeks. I mean, even if she is, I'm fairly sure she's 80% alcohol, at least." He shrugged his shoulders, his voice adopting an almost bored tone, forcing himself to keep as much emotion out of it as possible. He wasn't the type of have mental breakdowns, and he didn't care if it killed him, he wasn't about to have one now. Instead, he just sat and stared blankly at his coffee, almost as if it held the meaning of life.

Skylar's eyes widened a bit at him saying Levi was missing. The two of them had had a moment a while ago, but Skylar hadn't seen her since. She wasn't sure if they were avoiding each other or what, but she suddenly felt somewhat guilty. "Levi's missing?" she said, sounding a bit more panicked than she wanted to. "When did that happen?" They had to find her, right? They couldn't just let her go. Skylar had grown to care more about the girl recently, and while she had no idea what her feelings towards Levi meant, her disappearance was definitely going to hit Sky hard.
Skylar stared down at the worn out rug beneath their feet, trying to think of something comforting to say. "Jasper, I'm so sorry," she said. "I've been so caught up with myself, I didn't even realize..." Skylar could only describe what she was feeling as guilt, as there were so many things she now felt bad for doing. "Is there anything I can do?" Skylar was usually shit when it came to helping other people, but she'd have to try.

"About a week after my uncle was murdered by Rose's sister," he replied with a lazy shrug, tone still flat, torn between boredom and apathy. He was doing his best to keep his cool, something he'd grown very good at throughout his life. It was only in situations like this that he realised just how easy it was to switch his feelings off, even if it just made him look like the worst type of person. "But, y'know, whatever. It's not like there's an increase of hunting's and killings in the area. Oh no, wait." He was almost rambling, and it took him a minute to realise she'd even actually said anything in response. Running his hand through his hair, he thought for a minute before responding, "it's fine, really. It's just - there's so much shit going on, and I have no idea how to handle it. My father used to handle it and, well, I killed him."

Skylar was a bit confused at how calm Jasper seemed about all of this. Then again, Jasper never had been one to show his emotions very well. Skylar bit her lip, trying to think of a legitimate response. "You know you don't have to act like you're okay if you're not," she said. "At least not with me." Skylar really just wanted Jasper to open up to him. It was obvious that he was struggling, and she thought that maybe if he opened up to someone it might help him. She knew first hand how bad it hurt to hide your feelings for too long.

Jasper just gripped his cup, refusing to let go of it as he tried to figure out how to reply. His hands were actually shaking slightly, and so he took another long sip of the coffee, determined that he'd finish it before he accidentally spilled it all over the floor (he had a habit of breaking things or knocking them over when stressed, even if he'd never admit it). "I'm fine," he insisted, gritting his teeth before taking another sip of his drink, honestly a little terrified of unraveling in front of her. "Or, at least, I'll get over it."

Skylar noticed Jasper's hands shaking, and she put her coffee down on the table so that she could reach over and steady his. "I get it," she said, staring straight into Jasper's eyes. "You feel like you have to be this unbreakable, emotionless alpha dog, but it's okay to feel things. And it's okay to admit that you're not okay, alright?" Skylar hoped that she was actually helping Jasper, but she really couldn't tell. It was easy for him to tell when she was lying, but she wished that she could get a read on him sometimes. But no, he refused to let anyone in on what was actually going on.

Jasper looked up at Skylar, meeting her gaze for the first time since he'd arrived at her's. It was probably the first time he'd really even looked at her. Hell, it was probably the first time he'd actually given her the time of day in years. But, then again, Jasper had always been one to take her company for granted. He'd just expected her to be there, no matter what... He guessed this just happened to be kind of situation he'd known she'd be there for, even if he was pretending that it was completely okay. He wasn't sure what happened, but suddenly whatever was keeping him tied to her gaze snapped, and the cup in his hands shattered into pieces, forcing him to look down at the mess in his hands. It was bloody, a piece of the pottery having somehow managed to embed itself in his hand, but truth be told he couldn't care less.
"Shit, uh, sorry I'll - I'll clean up," he muttered, pulling away from her but making no real effort to actually stand up and walk to the kitchen. The whole situation was almost numbing, and the cup breaking had only served to leave him sat there, hands cupping a mess of blood and pottery in order to stop it from dripping onto the floor. Jasper owed a lot of people a lot of things; he wasn't about to add a new carpet for Skylar to the list. All he knew was that he really needed to clean up, and yet he couldn't even find the energy to stand up.

Skylar jumped a little when the cup shattered, gasping a bit. "Shit," she said under her breath. She stared at Jasper for a moment, honestly a little frightened. But then she realized that there was nothing to be afraid of. Jasper was just scared. She could tell by looking in his eyes just how broken he was. So, out of pure instinct, she jumped up and went to the kitchen and grabbed the paper towels and the first aid kit. She had a cut on her hand, right in the fold between her index finger and her thumb. But she wasn't worried about her own injuries at that point, even if it there was blood dripping halfway down her arm at that point.
She returned to Jasper and kneeled down next to him. She took a paper towel and laid it out on the coffee table, then she started taking the glass out of Jasper's hands and placing them on the soon bloodied piece of cloth. She didn't say a word, just worked at cleaning her friend up. "I think I got it all out of your skin," she said, examining Jasper's hands again to make sure she'd actually gotten it all. Then she washed all of the blood off of his hands and bandaged them up the best she could. She wasn't much of a nurse, but she managed.
After cleaning her own wound up, she took wrapped up the remains of the mug and threw it away. Then she went back out to sit with Jasper, this time sitting next to him so she could wrap an arm around him. She was shit with words, but maybe physical comfort could help him too. "You'll get through this, okay?" she said quietly. "I'll help you." Skylar wasn't sure how she'd actually help Jasper, but she would figure that out later.

Jasper didn't say anything for a minute or two, part of him shell-shocked and the other part a little too numb to even speak, his brain still processing the fact he'd just managed to break Sky's mug without even meaning to. It was seriously an accident, and yet for some reason he couldn't seem to get over it, gaze still locked onto where the mug had been, almost as if it was meant to mean something to him. Slowly, he managed to pull himself out of it to look up at Sky again, not bothering to point out that she really didn't need to bandage his hands, the cuts weren't deep enough to cause any serious damage and, even if they did, he'd be healed in a day or two anyway. He appreciated the gesture anyway, even if it was a little pointless.
"I-" he stopped himself suddenly, realising he was about to argue that he didn't need help, even if it was clearly a lie and he'd lost all will to fight it anymore. Instead, all he managed to say was a muffled "thanks," which he followed up by leaning into her slightly, grateful for the closeness, even if part of him hoping she didn't get the wrong impression, despite the fact the rest of him didn't care either way. After a small silence, he finally chirped up again, the words coming out as a low whisper. "I'm really fucked up, aren't I?"

Skylar shook her head. "No..." she said, but then she considered that maybe she was just telling him what he wanted to hear. But she really didn't believe that there was anything actually wrong with Jasper. Sure, he was pretty selfish at times, but what teenager wasn't? He was just in a bad situation. Whether that was his fault or not wasn't really clear to Sky, but it didn't matter to her either.
"You're in a bad situation," she said. "But that doesn't make you a bad person. It just means you've got to figure out how to fix the situation." Skylar really wanted to help Jasper, but he wasn't sure what she could do. She decided to start with Levi. "We'll find Levi. Maybe if I call her, she'll answer. I mean, you said yourself that she only talks to me. If that doesn't work, we'll figure something else out."

"I killed my own father," Jasper deadpanned, "and I don't care. In fact, I care more about the fact that I don't care than I do that he's dead. I'm in a shit situation because I put myself in one, because for some reason that's something I do a lot, just usually not to myself." He paused, shaking his head slightly before burying himself further into her, resting his head against her shoulder and he struggled to explain what he meant, knowing she'd probably only end up chatting shit to try and make him feel better. Jasper didn't want to feel better, he wanted the truth. "It's like-" he continued, struggling over his words now, "-it's like I do things to upset people, because I know I should feel bad or guilty about it, and then I get upset when I don't because I feel like this time should be different... This time I should actually give a damn."

Skylar tightened her arms around Jasper, trying to think of something she could say that could make this better. But she didn't have anything to say. Jasper had dug himself so deep that getting back out was next to impossible. "I'm so sorry," she said so quietly that she wasn't even sure if he could hear her. She knew that she had nothing to be sorry for, but it hurt her to see him this upset. It hurt her to see anyone that she cared about this upset. "I wish I knew what to do to help you," she said, trying to think of something that would actually help him. But she was slowly coming to the conclusion that the only person that could help him was himself.

"It's fine, it's totally fine," Jasper just whispered in reply, eyes closing slowly as he just about managed to pull himself together again, still having no idea what to do but admittedly feeling a little better now that it was out in the open... Even if it had taken him breaking a cup to realise there was even anything wrong. He'd always been good at denial, he'd just never realised he'd been managing to trick himself as well as everyone else into thinking he was fine. Eventually, he pulled away from her slightly, staring down at the bandages on his palms before shakily adding, "I'm fine. Or, I will be. I always am."

Skylar pulled back from Jasper a little. "You know you can talk to me, right?" he said. "Whenever you need to, okay?" Skylar was afraid that Jasper would end up doing something stupid, and that scared her. Jasper was the only person in her life other than her mother that she'd ever grown to truly care about. The only person that she feared losing. No matter what happened she wanted to be there for Jasper, though she felt kind of useless when it came to actually helping him. She was a good shoulder to cry on, and she could help with words sometimes, but other than that she was completely useless.

"Yeah, I know," Jasper replied, voice still quiet as he played with the bandage on his hand, the fabric admittedly a little fun to play with when he needed the distraction. He didn't get bandaged very often, mainly because of the fact he didn't let people tie cloth around his injuries when there was no point as he'd just heal anyway. Still, the thought was appreciated. Pulling his attention from the white fabric, he turned to look at Sky again, offering her a shy smile before finally replying, "I'm just not very good at talking about things that matter, if you haven't already noticed."
