• gemma, 38, elementary school teacherfather • harry, 40, tech developer siblings • willow, 16, student overall history • born in wolverhampton, england, leon is the first child of his young parents. he was known to be a happy accident. both of his parents had still been in universities, pursuing their separate degrees, when they discovered they were pregnant. they had been together since they were young, set to be married. shortly after he turned one, they had their wedding. he was the toddling ring-bearer. two months after their honeymoon, they found out they were pregnant once more. leon couldn’t remember a time before willow, but he was told that he had been quite rambunctious before her, but the moment she was placed in his arms, he seemed to change. mellow and calm, always careful and watching. he was a big brother, a protector. the two were inseparable for years, willow always dragging the shy leon behind her because he could never say no to her pouting face. the little girl stuck up for leon when he couldn’t find his voice and he would stand as a shield when someone would wave their finger at her in frustration. until little leon got into primary school and was made fun of for how close he was to sister–a girl. leon didn’t shun his sister’s attention, but was always more bashful and standoffish when she hugged him in public. he made up for it tenfold when they returned home. bullying, however, became a frequent occurrence with leon. he was incredibly small in stature and often picked on for his size. he did his best to not let it get to him, but from the age seven, he was constantly belittled and teased. it took a toll on his confidence and caused him to be more reserved in public settings. leon found comfort in movies–disney in particular. spending most of his free time curled up in front of these animated films sparked a desire in him. it was when he was watching ‘tangled’ for the first time, that he decided he wanted to work with disney to produce films. he started working on his drawing skills. his art was rather cringeworthy at first, but overtime became something akin to the level he saw animated. at twelve, leon was signed up for football (soccer) in his parents' attempt to get him more active and to make friends. it worked. he found out he was rather fast and that made him a key player. it was hard for others to pin him down with his small frame. he made a solid group of friends and at fourteen, managed to get a girlfriend. however, later that year, he fell ill. he had a problem with his kidneys and had to step down from the sport. sophia, his girlfriend, was kind and stayed by his side. she was an incredibly sweet girl. being down caused leon to gain some weight and lose the muscle definition he had gained. nearing his sixteenth birthday, as he was on the mend and finally able to be more active, his father announced that they were moving to california. he had gotten an important tech job and he couldn’t turn it down. his mother, being a teacher, could easily find a position in the states. leon was reluctant. he had a girlfriend and finally had friends. the bullying hadn’t stopped, but it was better. willow was worse, she refused to accept this turn of events. she had always been bubbly and kind–popular and well-liked. she didn’t want to leave her bubble. but they had no choice. so, at sixteen, leon parted ways with the only home he’d ever known and separated from his girlfriend. they knew long distance wasn’t an option for them, being so young and so far apart. beacon hills was about twenty minutes from his father’s new office, but the homes were cheaper there than in the city and the school was promising. the transition was hard in all senses. learning to drive in the states, working on the lingo, and the food differences. the people were strange and the schooling was so far from what he knew. however, he took it in strides. he knew he had no say in the matter and wanted a fresh start. wolverhampton had never been kind to him, but maybe beacon hills would be. he was rather short for a male, but still taller than some of his classmates. his accent brought attention to himself and his sister, but no one teased them for it. what had the most eyes on leon was rose. she had befriended him the first day of their sophomore year, guiding him through the american schooling system and teaching him how everything worked at the high school. he was grateful for her kindness, but it came at a price. rose was popular. rose was sort-of dating a boy who had protective friends. whispers started and glares were thrown. leon hadn’t understood the reasoning behind them. he didn’t know much about rose’s love life and, more importantly, they were only friends. leon was still hung up on sophia. they hadn’t parted on bad terms and she had been a wonderful girl. he had no interest in romance at the moment. leon worked on himself in the moments he had alone. he fought to be more confident and to get back into shape. on one of his evening runs, he had come across rose sitting on the ground. being her friend, he joined her and consoled her. the boyfriend was now her ex and she was struggling to find her place again. he did his best then to make her smile. they parted ways with each of them grateful to have at least one person to confidently call a friend. at home, leon worked with his sister. she had turned cold and bitter to the world, but was still soft for her big brother. they spent a lot of time building their relationship again and eventually he helped her get out and she found her own group of friends who dubbed themselves ‘the lonely hearts club’. as silly as it was, he was happy she was finally coming to terms with the permanence of their move. nearing winter, rose and leon decided to have a sleepover. it was his first time spending the night with a girl, but they had been overwhelmingly platonic up to this point, that he had confidence he wouldn’t mess it up and do something strange. they spent the evening binging christmas disney specials and sipping on hot drinks. alex and natalia had teased them for being so childish while her mom doted on them with snacks and smiles. it quickly became a ‘core memory’ for him. as he left her house the following afternoon, he had a sinking realization. he may like rose. they got along so well and shared so many interests, but he knew she was in a complicated relationship and didn’t want to make matters worse by involving his own feelings. he did his best to shove the emotions aside. the following weekend, was the winter dance. leon had been excited for it. it was his first dance in america and he was eager to see if it was like the movies portrayed. he had arrived with willow, but she had quickly parted ways with him to find her friends. before he could make his way to where rose was chatting with a girl, he ran into someone he knew to be rose’s best friend. iris was kind and he liked her a lot from what he had been told. they made small talk until he noticed rose leaving in distress. he encouraged iris to join him in consoling her. he had been upset that she was so bothered, doing his best to bring a smile back to her face with iris’ help. he understood that liam, her ex, was back and she had spotted him kissing another girl. her reaction made it that much more important that he repressed his feelings–plus the rumors that had gone around and awful looks thrown his way. he didn’t want to be bullied again. he was more than capable of being just roses’ friend. or so he thought. jasper, who he had never met before, had joined their small circle and began hurling cruelties at them. leon hadn’t been prepared for the rudeness and quickly excused himself once the conversation took a more private turn. he’d been hurt by what jasper said, but as he entered the dance once more, he was cornered by one of liam’s friends and told off for how close he’d been with rose. he cowered, like the kid he thought he no longer was, and ducked out of the dance. willow found him later in his truck, twiddling his thumbs in the silence–eyes red, but wiped dry by this point. he wouldn’t tell her what happened. it was the start of his decline. over winter break, his family took a trip to san francisco, giving leon a perfect excuse to not talk much with rose. when they returned to school, it seemed she had patched things up with her boyfriend and leon slowly faded from her life, like she’d lost interest now that she had her group back. he didn’t mind, he convinced himself. he wasn’t suited for her circle anyhow. leon focused on school, becoming anti-social and gradually closing himself off from even willow. he, however, could not avoid one particular boy. cooper robinson was born and raised in beacon hills and was deemed a loner much like leon. they became quick friends. leon teasing cooper about his addiction to marvel and cooper rubbing right back how stupid leon sounded when he sang the ‘frozen’ soundtrack. they had several classes together and over the summer became best friends. his truck broke down one day, it was old and the engine was busted. his parents gifted him with a newer modeled car a week later for his birthday. through cooper, leon met belle. she was a little spitfire, a ball of energy and pretty as could be. leon was a blushing, bashful mess around the confident girl. she had been cooper’s best friend since they were kids, nearly a sister to the guy. she was in beacon hills for the summer. they got close. leon carefully ignored that she was tan like rose, her hair dark and eyes full of laughter like rose. they kissed on the fourth of july as fireworks lit up the sky. their hands tangled as they walked through beacon hills, laughs bright and smiles wide. he liked her. but like sophia, it wouldn’t work. summer ended and she went back to las vegas. they kept in touch through text, but didn’t make any promises to one another. it was a nice fling, a nice way to move on. junior year, he shared more classes with cooper and managed to avoid rose for the bulk of the first semester. they would share distant smiles as they passed one another, but more or less acted as if they hadn’t know each other. it hurt, but he didn’t know what else to do. after winter break, rose cornered him at his locker. she apologized and begged for him to give her a chance to explain. leon was weak. he said yes. it hurt knowing that she only approached him because liam was gone again, but he was comforted knowing she still trusted him enough to turn to. they reconnected on the bleachers during lunch and got closer as the school year came to a close. cooper teased him about it, part of him protective of belle, but he didn’t pressure leon into any choices. rose was his friend. he didn’t think she’d ever see him as more and he was hesitant to act on those old feelings out of fear of being bullied once more. he met a fellow brit, imogen, not long after reconnecting with rose and they became friends. he helped her figure out her way around and introduced her to willow. they hung out at school, but not often otherwise. leon had taken rose’s advice and gave willow more attention. once again, their bond was strong. even if it was annoying being her chauffeur, he was happy to have her joking with him again. over the summer, leon dedicated his free time to working out and getting back into sports-playing shape. he wanted to join lacrosse for his senior year. belle didn’t return for summer break–instead cooper went to her. he split his time between willow, rose, and hanging out with cooper before he left for a month to vegas. he spent long hours at the harper house, doting on little elena and teaching her to dance to disney scores. rose would show up at his door and they’d spend the day playing games and exploring the area around his house. willow and rose would often gang up on him and he’d call them a bunch of ‘plants’ in return. he spent several nights at cooper’s house, deep in video games or some nerdy lore. when bobbi and then charlie died from what they called a wolf attack, willow and leon kept to staying indoors at night. they didn’t know about the supernatural despite those closest to them being deeply involved in that world. summer ended with a wealth of memories. leon never made a move on rose, he was still convinced she didn’t see him that way and she was still hung up on liam regardless. he would never jeopardize their friendship again. in august of 2018, the start of their senior year, rumors flew that liam was back. leon and iris stayed close to rose and kept the boy from finding her for the bulk of their first day, but when they parted ways and went home, it seemed that her ex had sought her out. leon received a frantic call from rose, tears in her voice and he was quick to drive to her house. there he stood, trying to process her rambling and his conflicting emotions before she dropped to the ground in a faint. guess it’s a good thing he started working out, he thought, as he scooped her up and carried her to her room. the visuals home • a two-story, ranch-style home in the heart of beacon hills suburbs. it is a fairly modest home. four rooms, two bathrooms, a warm living room and generous kitchen. they have a large back-yard with a garden his mother tends to. leon, willow, and his parents live upstairs while the downstairs spare bedroom is used as an office. car • a 2017 gray jeep cherokee after his truck broke down outfits • his style can be described as preppy or semi-formal. he is always wearing a plaid button down with a shirt underneath or a sweater layering over. he opts for khaki style pants over jeans. he tends to have a jacket or layers of tops on his because his smaller frame means he gets colder quicker. his style can be blamed on years of wearing uniforms at school back home. the threads
