Now Jade knew this was going to be a bad idea but looking back on it, she'd hoped it wouldn't have gone as badly as it had. Man she ached.
It all started two days ago, two days ago where Charlie Carper's mother ran frantically into Beacon Hills High School asking if anyone had seen her daughter since the previous evening. No one had, a couple of people guessed she'd been at work or at a friends house but none of those leads had come back with any good news. It wasn't as if everyone immediately began to worry, they trusted Charlie, knew she would be taking care of herself. Only thing is, you have to be alive to take care of yourself and that evening when the police told Charlie's mother that her daughter had been found dead in the preserve covered in a mixture of paint and blood the world seemed to stop. People nearby swore they heard her sobs through the walls of the station and then just complete silence. The next morning the halls at school had been quiet, people making little conversation and most just staring at the ground. Most of the school knew Charlie, she'd been popular and not for being a bitch but for being genuinely kind and always happy to give someone a smile, now she was dead.
It wasn't long before the hunters caught on that it had been a wolf attack, most likely the same wolves that had killed Bobbie not too long ago. Jade didn't know Rose too well but she'd shared a few conversations and lunches together for when Rose saw Jade the other girl told her to be on alert. The Little's didn't tend to talk to the other hunter families in Beacon Hills but with two people dead and the possibility of more attacks happening in future, maybe it was a time Jade's family started talking with the Styles' and Harpers. That was when Jade started thinking and not in her usual 'oh, Ashton's so cute I just wanna squish his face,' way. No, this was a dangerous plan, one made by a worried girl with not enough training for what she was hoping to do. Still, Jade didn't necessarily give up easily.
She must have actually been insane for her to think her plan would have worked. Now she had the cuts to prove that no, it had not worked.
That night when Jade watched her clock tick over to 3AM, she slipped out of her bed, pulling on a pair of leggings and a warm coat before lacing up her boots and collecting the rucksack she'd prepared earlier. Honestly, thinking back on it, Jade had really not been prepared enough. For a moment Jade paused on the landing, looking at Erin's door, considering if she should let her twin know. Erin'd kill her either way, might as well go and risk death by protective sister later. Ashton occurred to Jade as she locked the front door behind her, what would he say? Probably nothing good. Frankly it's shocking that Jade didn't stop then, nothing good would come of this.
Grabbing her bike from the side of the Little house, Jade pedalled on over to the preserve all the time going over what she'd packed in her rucksack and what her plan was. Going over her plan didn't take long, it was pretty flimsy and pathetic. Clutching the brake on her bike when she reached the gate to the preserve Jade seriously considered backing out before reminding herself that this could help people, could help her family and those she loved.
This was where her plan began to fizzle, how to actually find the rogue pack when she had no definite confirmation that they'd be here was difficult. Still, attracting them with some kind of blood seemed like a pretty good place to start. Unzipping her bag, Jade pulled out a small knife, she knew it was going to hurt when she cut her palm and damn it hurt like a bitch when she did. Heading further into the preserve, Jade made sure she was still dripping blood behind her, made sure she was listening out for anything although that was pretty hard to do over the heavy beat of her heart. She must have been walking for about half an hour when she heard something and her heart leapt to her throat. She was so on edge and was truly, truly thinking about how much of a fucking idiot she was when she heard another sound, from another location and then another. All around her, encircled. Fuck. Fuck, fuckity, fuck.
Maybe she should have told Erin or Ashton or hell, even left a note because now she was truly alone and very much in trouble. "I am not afraid," she whispered to herself even though every part of her was terrified and was screaming at her to run. "You should be." Three words, three fucking words that finally made her sprint, away, away from the voice away from the movements but she knew they'd catch up and catch up they did, two in front of her and one behind. "That girl you killed," maybe if she could distract them with her nonsense ramblings they'd give up, forget what they were here to do. "She had a name and she wanted to go to art school, everyone knew that. She was kind and you killed her." Nothing, not a hint of emotion from them or a sign that they cared. She'd expected that but still, it was haunting to see. The knife, she had to remember the knife, raising it high, Jade knew sending it at one of the wolves in front would probably do little good, behind it was then. Raising her arm high, Jade twisted momentarily to send it their way. A moment later she heard a yelp and used it as her chance to get further away, veering right towards a stream that ran through the preserve. They were coming still and this time they'd didn't wait, one grabbed her back, yanking her to a stop. She nearly tumbled over but one caught her across the stomach, claws and all, not cutting deeply but enough to draw beads of blood and a hiss of pain. There were three of them again, one looking considerably more pissed off than the other two. He went for her first, grabbing her shoulder and pulling her this way.
If she could just open her bag. Her bag had been thrown off of her and sat a good ten metres away. Her shoulder was writhing with pain, a feeling of warmth there she knew had to be blood. Man she'd really made a bloody mess of this. Ha, ha bloody. Sending her foot towards the wolves knee, she landed it hard enough to loosen his grip. She ran then, just missing the grasp of another before grabbing her bag and pulling out a vial of purple liquid. Not even thinking about what she was doing before throwing it at a nearby tree and listening to the vial smash before releasing a cloud of purple-grey smoke, Jade took hold of her bag and ran. One was still there though, still hot on her heels, literally, she could feel just there a mere foot behind her. Why wasn't he going for her? Oh yeah, probably because the last time she had her back she smashed a vial of wolfsbane powder which knocked out his other lackeys. She needed one wolf though, one to interrogate. Stopping suddenly, he crashed into her as she raised a small grey device out of her bag, clicked a button on it and grit her teeth as a ridiculously high pitch noise came out of it, the werewolf clutched his hands to his ears but he must have been strong because he grabbed for her waist, digging into her but that was as far as he got as a second later a bullet was buried inside of his side. Not from Jade though, from someone else running over the hill towards her.
"Betcha didn't think I'd have a gun, did ya?" Sabrina asked, smiling despite the situation, maybe because she hadn't realised how much Jade was bleeding until she looked at her properly. They were running, or maybe Sabrina was running and pulling Jade along but they got to her house just outside the preserve relatively quickly. Then again maybe it was going quickly because she kept blacking out. "Jade, what were you thinking? Your boyfriend is going to kill me. Your sister too." Sabrina was saying as she drove them into town, her gun discarded on the seats behind. "What was the bullet?" Jade murmured, eyes drifting shut. "Type of wolfsbane, I have them around to knock my brothers out." Sabrina must have been knowing Jade wouldn't remember this conversation because that girl never spoke about her brothers, not willingly. "Your lucky I was out tonight. Do you have any idea how badly this could have gone?" Jade did but Jade had blacked out, fingers bloody but face creaseless.
She woke up again in hospital, just able to hear Sabrina outside on the phone saying, "Erin, it's me, Sabrina. There's been a bit of a situ- no, don't freak out. Everything's fine, well as fine as your sister bleeding from about 5 different places. Man she looks rough- yeah, sorry, sorry. Just get here okay, she'll be waking up soon." The door opened and Sabrina walked in and noticed Jade was beginning to stir. "I called your sister and Ashton and Jensen, someone should be here soon. I know we're not super close but I'm glad it was me finding you alive and not by some police officer finding you dead."
"Yeah, me too."

9 times out of 10 it was Erin who would do the stupid thing and end up in hospital, the 1 time being when Jade would do something like falling off the trampoline badly, so when Erin got a call from Sabrina, a girl she hardly ever spoke to in school, telling her that Jade was in hospital in the middle of the night, it was safe to say she was pretty confused, and obviously worried. She'd jumped out of bed and tugged on a pair of jeans but decided her oversized t-shirt wasn't worth changing out of, then woke up their parents. Erin knew Jade would be pissed at her for this, but she figured they were going to find out eventually, so she may as well tell them now. She did convince them, though, to let Erin see Jade by herself first, since it'd probably be better for Jade, and Erin was ready to go while they weren't. So, she jumped in her car and began driving, wondering how she'd let this happen. She was usually so over protective of Jade, and she would never let her out of the house in the middle of the night (without her), so the fact she'd managed to get out was pretty shocking. After the police finding Charlie's body in the woods just a few days before, she was surprised that Jade would even venture into the woods by herself, but then again this was Jade, and she'd probably thought she'd been helping. Maybe Erin had been too preoccupied with thinking of her own plan to catch up with these rouge werewolves that had begun terrorising the town to realise Jade had been being the doing the same, or maybe Jade hadn't even planned this, and it was just a sudden idea. Either way, Erin couldn't help but blame herself slightly for letting Jade get hurt. Soon enough she was at the hospital and getting a little bit to angry with the staff as she asked about where her sister was (she'd try and remember to apologise later), and then she was power walking towards the room she'd been told to go to. "Jade!" She exclaimed as she walked in "What the hell were you thinking?" She asked, rushing over to her sister and rapping her in a hug, forgetting that she was probably in pain for a second before letting go. "You could have been killed!" She added. She then realised Sabrina was still in the room, and turned round and smiled a relieved smile "Thanks for calling me" She said, before turning back to Jade. "You know this was a bad idea, i mean look what happened last time you did something like this" She said, then sighed, calming down. "I told mum and dad, they're on their way" ______________________________________________________coded by nahara46 of gs, adox and swa

Waiting for someone to arrive set Sabrina on edge for a couple of reasons 1) this growing silence between her and Jade was pretty painful and since they'd never really spoken all that much before it was even worse and 2) if someone else did arrive soon, Jade might start asking more questions about how they actually got to the hospital because Sabrina was sure the girl didn't remember all that much between Sabrina arriving on the scene and her waking up here. Also, Sabrina was exhausted and would have really appreciated someone else arriving so that she could go chill in the waiting room either with a coffee or actually asleep.
Jade wondered who'd turn up first, wondered if anyone would even come at the hour. What time even was it? Chancing a glance at the clock on the wall Jade winced to see that it was just after 5. Everything had happened so quickly. Man she ached. Fuck, what an idiot she'd been. After a few more minutes of silence where Jade just thought about how much she'd fucked up, cause hey, happy thoughts, right? Sabrina appeared to perk up and a moment later Erin was bursting into the room. Ah, here came the fire.
Jade had tried to brace herself for this. For Erin's reaction, she'd thought about it when she'd grabbed for her bag in the woods to try and find someone to escape with her heart still beating. Good question, what had she been thinking? That death by werewolf would have been a great way to commit suicide after autocorrect adding the word 'Daddy' into a text aimed at Ashton? No, not that, although she had lowkey wanted to throw her phone out of the window when she hit send without realising what her stupid phone had corrected her to.
Sabrina, who had jumped out of her chair when Erin came in and had been edging her way towards the door because she was falling asleep on her feet was just about to leave when Erin said thank you, "figured you'd want a sister more than a corpse." Sabrina offered before giving them both a wave of her hand and leaving, if anyone else turned up in the waiting room they could ask her where Jade was, until then, Sabrina made herself comfy in a chair with a coffee and a 5 months old copy of Cosmopolitan.
Jade gave Sabrina a small wave back, still wincing from the hug but hey, at least it showed Erin didn't completely hate her. "Last time was a mistake." So was this time but let's not nitpick here. Okay, maybe Erin did completely hate her if she'd told their parents. "Why would you tell them? They will flip and never let me leave the house again." Which is what they threatened to do if she did something stupid again, which she just had. Last time had been worse though. She'd been 14 and unarmed besides one measly shotgun that when it came to it made the situation worse. Still she recovered and she'd recover this time as well.

The buzzing melody of Hollywood Undead's ‘Everywhere I Go’ blaring in his ear wasn’t exactly Ashton’s ideal version of waking up, especially as his blurry vision slowly focused in on the fuzzy red numbers on his alarm clock. Barely four a.m. Who the fuck wanted to talk to him that bad? His arm begrudgingly moved out from under his cocoon of warmth, hand flailing as he reached for where his cellphone was perched on his nightstand. The ringtone was still singing at max volume when he brought the Samsung into view, blinking at it blankly for a moment before he remembered he needed to answer the damn thing. “The fuck you want?” Was his eloquent, sleep-numbed response- voice rough with sleep as he rubbed a palm over his eyes. Sabrina it appeared by the endless depth of sarcasm in the tone bleeding into his ear, was the one who wanted to have a chat with him at four in the fucking morning. He was tempted to hang up, not caring if one of her brothers ate her shoe again or whatever it was that mess of siblings did- Blake was the one fluent in Mets, not him- but he gave his pack member the benefit of the doubt. Sabrina wasn’t one to waste her time.
Not that he was expecting otherwise, but his bitter tone didn’t fly with the beta, her own words curled with an odd mixture of worry and sass as she informed, “Your girlfriend is in the hospital, you dumb ass.” The click of the call ending didn’t register.
Ashton’s blood ran cold, eyes unseeing as he shoved his blankets aside and all but fell out of bed in his efforts to get to his clothes scattered across the far side of his room. Jade was in the hospital. Jade was hurt. Jade. He couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe. He feared the worst- and there wasn’t enough time in the world to describe how wrong that was. He wasn’t supposed to care, that wasn’t who he was, but somehow he found himself behind the wheel of his Jeep with Jensen banging on the passenger door, yelling through the glass for Ashton to unlock the damn door. When he glanced around, he noticed Blake standing on the porch in confusion, phone in hand as he tried to make sense of why the Pines were so frantic so early, saw the house lit up like a Christmas tree with a shadow stirring in the kitchen- his uncle. Then his eyes fell to himself- shirt on backwards and two different shoes.
No time to change, no time for questions. He barely waited for Jensen to get inside the vehicle before peeling away.
The drive was a blur, his cousin’s voice a calming undertone as he cursed the endless red lights he was catching. Sabrina had called Jensen too, who was told much more than he’d been given he couldn’t even remember getting dressed, let alone hanging up on the girl. She’d found Jade in the woods hunting the rogue pack with minimal supplies. His girlfriend was banged up, but would live long enough for him to chew her out for not telling him- which was also extremely strange to think about, so he didn’t. He could feel Jensen’s eyes on him, and he knew that his cousin noticed the change in him. He ignored it, ignored everything. He couldn’t let his emotions eat him. Couldn’t focus on the panic gripping his heart, the lust lingering from the dream where he was buried between his girlfriend’s sister’s legs. He couldn’t do a damn thing but press his foot to the pedal and haphazardly park in a vacant spot at the hospital before dashing into the building with Jensen hot on his heels.
This rogue wolf pack was a pressing problem, one that had both werewolves and hunters on edge. Erin and he had been talking not only days before, putting what information they’d gathered together and coming up with nothing. There was nothing to identify, no scents he could catch and no prints she could find. Whoever this was had to be one clever bastard to cover their tracks like that, someone who wanted revenge, but they were both too relatively new to the town to pin any suspects down. He couldn’t ask Jensen because his cousin would stomp that idea down and Blake would end up telling Jensen anyways because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. He’d turned to Murphy, but he had just as hard of a time seeking out the truth. Erin did some snooping, but she couldn’t outright ask anyone without people finding out her status as a hunter.
They’d hidden it from Jade to keep her safe, but now he feared they should have included her so she wouldn’t have gone off and done something this idiotic. But then again, he figured Jade wouldn’t take to kindly to the sight of her boyfriend nibbling at her twin’s neck from behind as they crowded over Erin’s research.
They kept a lot hidden to keep Jade safe.
He was a flurry of motion as he burst into the room, a quick point from Sabrina in the waiting room all he needed. Jensen stayed behind with the girl, knowing it was probably best to give his frantic cousin the space.
Only, Ashton wasn’t alone once he made it through the door way, stumbling around his mismatched shoes as he spotted Erin at Jade’s side in a shirt that looked all too familiar. His voice died on his lips at the sight, eyes batting back and forth between the two, but his feet never stopped shuffling their way. Mindful of the bandages decorating his girlfriend’s pale flesh, Ashton found himself taking a seat opposite of Erin- Jade separating them. Oh, the irony.
With gentle motions, he curled his fingers around Jade’s, his sights set only on her for the moment- fucking finally- as he settled down. He knew his arrival had been a bit sudden, but he managed to calm down quickly at the sight of her chest rising and falling- at the light in her eyes blurred by the tears in his own.
“You just can’t make my life easy, can you?” Was his greeting, low and shaky as he tried to keep from scolding her for being so damn stupid and brave and breathtaking. He knew she’d get that from Erin, from her family. He just wanted to be there for her, wanted to keep her living.
His gaze lifted to her sister then, realizing he must have interrupted their discussion, but he didn’t have the words to apologize, instead correcting around a crack of a smile, “Our lives.” Because they were tangled, so terribly, deeply tangled up in one another.
It terrified him.

Erin shot Sabrina another smile at her leaving comment as it was very true, she deffiently wanted a sister more then a corpse. That was the kind of thing Erin liked about Sabrina- she had a good sense of humour. Most people wouldn't think to make a joke about some else's sister dying while they were in hospital, but Erin thought it lightened the mood a little bit, and besides, it was obvious that Jade was mostly okay, it was just scratches that would heal over time, no broken bones or injuries with lasting effects. "Okay even if last time was a mistake, what's that saying? Oh yeah, learn from your mistakes. Don't go and try and fight a pack of werewolves again with nearly no equipment" Erin told her. Of course she was glad her sister was safe, but she couldn't help but be a little bit angry that Jade had even put herself in that position, she didn't know what she would do with out Jade, so the fact that she seemed so willing to just throw her life away did hurt. Sighing, Erin raised an eyebrow at her twin "Have you seen yourself? They would have known something was wrong. They would've figured it out eventually, it's better that they know" She replied. She'd be pissed too if the positions were switched and Jade had told their parents, but the fact was the positions weren't switched, so she couldn't feel too bad about it. Before either of them could say another word, Ashton came bursting through the door, and for once, she didn't actually mind seeing him. There was no denying that they'd gotten closer recently, though if anyone asked they would lie about exactly how close. They'd been spending a lot more time together, especially since the rouge werewolves had made them selves known, and had spent hours researching what they wolves might be after, but they still hadn't come up with anything- it was a pretty difficult thing to find out since you couldn't really just go around asking outright. Ever since her and Ashton had stumbled across one in the woods (okay, so maybe Erin couldn't be too hard on Jade for what she'd done), the rouge pack had been plaguing her mind and she'd been thinking about them pretty regularly. She spun around in her chair to look at who had burst in through the door, and her eyes landed on a very mismatched looking Ashton. He was wearing different shoes and he seemed to have his shirt on the wrong way around, and Erin couldn't help but try and stifle a laugh at his appearance. He was obviously worried about Jade, hence the messy look, but she still found it funny. She watched as he sat down across from her so Jade was between them "For once, i actually agree with him" Erin said with a small smile, calming down now that she was safe and okay. ______________________________________________________coded by nahara46 of gs, adox and swa

"My aim," Jade began, trying to sit up further but quickly realising that was a fucking dumb idea as her stomach and waist whined, "had not been to fight them. I just want to chat, you know, little chit chat." She had been so sure she'd have been able to do some good, so sure she'd be able to find out who they were, what they doing, why they were doing it. But if anything she'd made matters worse and maybe that's what hurt most of all. It's not that Jade had wanted to get hurt and she hadn't wanted to outright hurt the rogue pack either, that wasn't who she was because she knew it didn't tend to work when what you wanted was answers.
The fact that their parents were coming made Jade feel sick, how the hell could she explain this and what the fuck would she say? Saying sorry probbaly wouldn't do and after that, Jade was pretty clueless and lost for words. Still, Erin wouldn't leave her with them, wouldn't leave her to fend for herself like that. "I know, I know, I'd just been hoping they wouldn't have to find out like this." And by that Jade meant her in a hospital bed, probably looking like a complete wreck with no evidence of a proper plan she'd have had to offer them."I'm so screwed for when they come." Jade muttered, eyes flitting round the room as she said it before looking back at her sister. Erin would be so pissed if Jade had ended up dead.
The next thing Jade knew was Ashton. Bursting into the room like how he'd burst into her life, Jade couldn't help but smile. Smile at the thought that he was here at this insane hour but also because he clearly had no idea how to dress himself when he was in a rush. She appreciated it. Erin must have found it funny too as Jade could just make out her quieted laugh.
There they were, Erin and Ashton, sitting on either side of her. The two people that meant the most to her. The two people that meant the world to her. The feel of Ashton's hand around her own was an instant comforting action. As Jade actually looked at Ashton she could see how her actions, how seeing her like this affected him. Now she felt guilty, properly guilty. "I just... like to keep you both on your toes." Jade said, giving Ashton's hand the lightest of squeezes. "I'm sorry." She added after a moment, taking in both of their faces. She had so much love for the both of them. Maybe she'd never tell them as much but it was as true as the moon changing the tide and the fact that the Earth spun around the sun. "I'm an idiot, I know." Jade was clever at many things but when something got under her skin, when she wanted to take action she often forgot about what was really at stake, like this, like Ashton and Erin on either side of her, here because of her, because they cared.

Sabrina had only just been getting into a comfy position when the sound of the hospital door opening and two pairs of feet caught her attention. Looking up from the pages of the magazine she was reading, Sabrina took one look at Ashton and knew he was really in no position to talk so she just pointed the way, shaking her head once he'd left. She just hoped Jensen had filled Ashton in a bit. "Jenny, hey." Sabrina said, setting the magazine down on the table next to her as Jensen joined her. Sabrina hadn't been back in the pack for too long but yet they already felt like an extension of her, probably because they used to be and she'd just needed to slot back into their world again.
In the few seconds Sabrina had seen and spoken to Ashton that morning she'd noticed something that surprised her. He cared, like seriously, seriously cared which she'd be lying if she said wasn't a surprise. "He really likes her, doesn't he?" Sabrina asked, wrapping one hand around her coffee, her tone lost of sarcasm when she asked because this was not the Ashton she used to know, not the fuckboy she'd watched grow up.

There was a quip on the tip of his tongue, daring to fall, but the distance between his lips and Erin’s ears made him falter. Jade being here made him falter. He couldn’t say what he wanted to, couldn’t tease his lover about how there’s an awful damn lot they could agree on these days. Like how he knew they could both agree that their affair needed to be kept secret, that Jade could never find out if they both wanted to keep her- and they did. Erin couldn’t lose her sister, Ashton couldn’t lose the first person that made him feel. Couldn’t lose the second one either, for that matter, and he feared Jade discovering just what her boyfriend and sister’s study sessions entailed to would, well, push Erin away too. It was a dangerous, filthy, sinful line they were dancing across, but he couldn’t cut Erin off, couldn’t kiss her goodbye and tend to his sweet, innocent Jade. He needed them both, explicitly and for separate reasons, but he couldn’t imagine having one without the other. Couldn’t imagine letting either of them go. It was greedy and cruel and damn, he’d never felt this guilty before- never felt this much before- but he couldn’t let go. He wouldn’t say he loved them because he didn’t love anyone, that was never part of the plan, but he felt for them. He adored each of them, even if Erin wouldn’t let him show it. Affection made what they were doing so much worse, but that didn’t stop him from combing his fingers through her hair as they lounged on the couch, smothering her face with kisses as he tickled her, dragging fingers over the hidden marks he’d sucked into her skin . . . it didn’t stop anything. He showered Jade with cheesy, lame gifts, stole flowers from her mother’s garden to gleefully hand over just to see her cheeks flush pink as she rolled her eyes, and other stupidly romantic things that he’d never imagined he’d ever do before meeting the Little’s. He hated to say it, hated to even think it, but they were changing him. Probably for the better. Before his parents’ death, he couldn’t keep a steady girlfriend, always found one skirt prettier than the other. After, he was a mess, falling in and out of beds, pleading that it would solve something- anything. Then he was dumped into his uncle’s lap, parading through his second home until the Little’s stopped him in his tracks. Yeah, he was cheating on Jade, but that wasn’t the point. He could be doing it more, with anyone, but the twins had him tied down. Girls flock him still, but where he’d once be collecting numbers and planning his nights around different legs wrapped around his waist, he couldn’t care less. He didn’t want anyone else. Just them.
With that in mind, he censored himself, deciding to stick his tongue out at Erin in an all too childish manor before his eyes slid back to Jade’s face. There was a purple mark on her cheek, one that had him whining low in his throat as he shook his head. “You are an idiot, but you’re my idiot,” Ashton tried to tease, but it was too soft to reach his normal joking tone. His other hand rose to gently comb through her unruly curls, chuckling as he pulled out a leaf. Tossing it aside, his eyes softened even as his voice was stern, “You need to be careful, Jade. I know that you were trying to help, but you should have told one of us.” Jade still didn’t know that he was a werewolf, but she knew he had her back. Hell, tonight would have been the perfect time to tell her had she only let them in on her plan. Erin was pressing him to do that, not wanting to keep so many secrets from Jade, but he just didn’t know how.

Post by Jensen Pines on Dec 4, 2016 19:52:04 GMT
The situation was less than ideal. Jensen had been sound asleep when he’d been woken by the buzzing of his cellphone and the sound of fumbling in the bedroom on the other side of the wall. His clock had informed him it was four in the morning, the hour making him pause and then snap into action. This had to be serious, especially as he noted Sabrina’s name and Ashton’s curses in the room over.
Somehow, he found himself following after Ashton, Blake hot on his heels and asking what was going on. He’d fleetingly explained that Jade was hurt and for him to text Sabrina for answers before he resorted to banging on the window until his cousin let him in.
The ride was nerve-wracking, anxiety nearly suffocating as he prayed his seatbelt was enough in the face of Ashton’s frantic driving, but that all gave fodder to the inkling brewing in his brain. He’d never seen his cousin care so much, never scented so much fear in the air. He cared, and that impressed Jensen as much as it scared him. But he wasn’t the only one who noticed, that much made clear as he settled down beside Sabrina after Ashton had taken off, the girl asking the very thing that’s plagued his mind for months now as he shook off the nickname. He hated it and she knew it- just as she knew he’d never tell her to quit it.
“He does,” Jensen said softly, eyes scanning her face before he glanced back at the direction his cousin had taken off in, “And it scares me, you know? He’s never cared for anyone before and I just hope he doesn’t mess it up.” He bites his lip after shaking his head, gaze back on Sabrina as he cracked a shy smile, “He pushes people away when they get too close.” But she already knew that, experienced that when they were young.
He sighed, deciding to change the topic a bit, away from the confused and the morbid as he said, “I haven’t had the chance to say it, but I’m really glad you’re back, Sabrina.” They’d always been good friends, but when home life became too tough for each of them, they pulled away. Sabrina escaped the pack while he’d struggled to bear the weight of his family. It had only been recently that Blake dragged her back, and Jensen was happy for it, for she was welcomed to open arms.
If you don’t count Murphy that is, but he’s an ass to everyone.

"You just wanted a little chat with murderous werewolves?" Erin asked, her voice sceptical and full of shock. She shook her head, she knew her sister could make some pretty stupid decisions, but she had taken the biscuit with this. The only reason Erin hadn't completely flipped out was because Jade had made it out in one piece, and the relief from that had set in before she could get angry. "They might not be that mad, you never know" Erin said, though it was pretty obvious that she was trying to convince herself of that while she was saying it. They both knew Jade was probably going to be in serious trouble when their parents arrived, but Erin would do her best to have her sisters back, like always. Looking at the three teenagers in the room then, Erin almost wanted to laugh at how cliche it was. All the 'forbidden romance' would make a story that could probably out sell Twilight. She could see the blurb now- One Werewolf. Two hunters. Three hearts in the balance.
Jade Little is infatuated with heartthrob Ashton Pines, but what will happen when she realises things aren't all they seem in the supernatural world, or in the world of feelings. Okay, Erin never claimed she was a great writer, but she assumed the blurb would sound something like that. She couldn't help but roll her eyes when he stuck her tongue out at her, a part of her wondering how he could be so childish in this situation, while the another part of her was glad, since it added some normality to the situation. But then he had his attention fixed back on Jade, and Erin had to look away. She felt like she was intruding on a moment that she really shouldn't be there for. She moved her eyes back to the scene in front of her though when Ashton said she should of told one of them, and Erin nodded along. "Yeah, why didn't you tell me?" She asked. Erin was almost a little bit offended that Jade hadn't told her about the plan- did she not trust her? She must've known she would have been safer with her twin by her side, but instead she went on by herself. ______________________________________________________ coded by nahara46 of gs, adox and swa

Okay, so at least she hadn’t been the only one to notice. Then again it was both relieving to know she wasn’t imaging things but also worrying because when did Ashton seriously care about things? Like sure, he cared about his pack, whether he’d be eating and who he’d be screwing that night but beyond that, Sabrina wasn’t sure. “I hope so too.” Sabrina agreed, thumb pushing into the Styrofoam side of her coffee cup before adding, “more for her sake.” Because here was the thing, Ashton could seriously fuck you over if he wanted to.
Then again, couldn’t they all fuck each other over so easily? Sabrina’s parents had done it to her, her best friend had left her without more of a backwards glance, her eldest brothers had left, leaving her with her unruly and uncontrolled other brothers whilst having to make sure her younger sister was actually eating and keeping up with school. Sabrina had fucked people over too. No one was perfect and sure, she’d done it on purpose once or twice but facing what she had to when she stepped through her front door, well, sometimes it felt nice to make someone else feel the pain sometimes. Which of course was a dangerous was of thinking but oh well.
So maybe Ashton pushed people away for good reason and maybe in the past he’d pushed her away for a reasonable reason but when it happened, it hurt. So when Jensen told Sabrina that he was glad she was back she smiled and said “me too, Jenny, me too.” She’d missed them- even Murphy (who she’d often bumped heads with when she used to be in the pack). “I’m just glad you didn’t replace with me with someone else, ‘cos that would have hurt my feelings.” Sabrina joked. It was then that she felt her phone vibrate for probably the third time in the past 5 minutes. Pulling her cell out of her pocket, Sabrina rolled her eyes seeing they were all messages from Blake, “wow, Blake’s really eager for the goss.” She said showing Jensen her lock screen full of his messages. Truth was, Sabrina wasn’t sure how injured Jade actually was. The doctors were going to give the full report to Jade’s parents when they arrived and speak of the devils, Sabrina could just make them out as Erin and Jade’s parents as they were shown where their daughters were. Good luck to Jade, that’s all Sabrina could think.

“For all we know, there’s a perfectly good reason for the murders.” Jade said before thinking that maybe that sounded like she was saying murder was fine if you had a decent reason. Which it wasn’t, obviously. It was bugging her, what made someone decided to take innocent lives? There had to be a reason and Jade would try her damndest to find out what that reason was.
Maybe this time she’d try and figure it out with Erin and Ashton, too. Three heads being better than one and all that (and also the fact that she doubted they’d let her out of their site for a while).
Good question. Why hadn’t she told them? “Um…” Jade began looking between the two of them as she tried to actually remember why she didn’t tell them. She had had a reason, right? She didn’t have a logical answer, that was the truth and as her gaze fell to her the hospital sheet covering her she could do nothing but shrug. “I guess I just wanted to do something myself.” She said, thumb mindlessly drawing patterns over the back of Ashton’s hand.
A few moments later and Jade could hear approaching conversation down the hall. Two familiar voices and a gut wrenching wave of panic were heading her way. The doctor was the first to step inside the room, a warm smile on her face but any relief Jade felt from that was swept aside when she saw her own parents’ faces. “Now that you’re all here, I’ll tell you the extent to your injuries, Jade.” It couldn’t be that bad, could it? “You have three thing scratches along your stomach- they should heal within no time-, your right shoulder seems to be bruising around the cuts there, your left knee also seems to be deeply bruised and then you’re have move cuts on either side of your waist.” That seemed a lot and Jade couldn’t remember doing something that would have bruised her knee. Maybe Sabrina would know.
After a quick conversation with the doctor, Jade’s parents turned to her, their faces disappointed. “You better have a good explanation, Jade.” Her mum (Sandy) said, arms folded. Jade had expected this, a complete lack of sympathy for her actions. Now here was the situation Jade found herself in, did she lie and give a really good but completely bullshitted reason or did she tell the truth? Or there was option three- look hopelessly at Erin and hope that she could come to Jade’s rescue. It often worked.

"Jade, as far as we know both victims have been innocent civilians, sure, Bobbi knew some hunters but Charlie didn't have anything to do with the supernatural world. Does it really sound like they had a reason for being murdered by a pack of werewolves?" Her tone was soft, making sure Jade knew she wasn't trying to scorn her, but her sentences were also rhetorical and matter-of-fact. She didn't want Jade thinking that there was an excusable reason behind the murders, or even that there was a reason. Sure, maybe there was, but it must have been sick and twisted if they were willing to kill two completely innocent people. "It's not worth you getting hurt, or even killed, just to find out why these people are doing this" She added, taking Jades free hand and squeezing it, both as comfort and also to try and get her point across even more. Erin sighed, shaking her head lightly. Out of everything Jade could have chosen to do alone she picked this. Honestly, it would be funny if it hadn't been so dangerous. "You really shouldn't have done this by yourself. No offence, but this goes straight to the top of the list of most stupid things you've ever done" She said, then smiled at her sister, trying to lighten the mood slightly. If the mood lightening did work, it didn't last for long, as Erin didn't need supernatural hearing to hear the sound of her parents coming down the corridor. Erin glanced at Jade, gave her hand another squeeze along with a sympathetic smile, then turned to face the door, ready to defend Jade despite it being against her best interest to do so. Erin listened to the list of Jade's injuries, and while they did sound bad, Erin couldn't help but be relieved. No bones were broken, and there was no serious injuries, so Jade would be okay soon enough. That was all she could really ask for at that point. After the doctor was finished and had left the room Erin turned her attention back to her parents and tried to work out what to say now. She glanced between Jade and her parents for a second and sighed. "It was my fault" She said before she could realise what she was actually saying. "Um, i wanted to find out what was going on with the rouge pack and i brought Jade along with me... But we got split and Jade ran into them" She explained, looking back at her sister. Boy, did she owe her for this. ______________________________________________________Ashton Pines & Jade Little | words: 429 | notes: pls lets ignore the fact that Erin was in the house when Jade got hurt. Jensen huffed out a soft laugh as he shook his head, eyes lingering on the hallway his cousin disappeared into. “At this point, I don’t know who will be more hurt if he ends up ruining things between them,” he admitted, unable to tear his gaze away from where he knew Ashton was comforting his injured girlfriend. If he listened hard enough, he may have been able to make out the conversation going on between them, but he wasn’t one to intrude. That was more up Blake’s alley anyhow. “I’ve never seen him like this, you know? Every time he came to visit, he’d be boasting about whatever new girl he’d managed to get tangled up with back home before running off and hooking up with a local,” he continued, a weak smile on his lips as he remembered all of those sleazy grins Ashton would throw his way as he intertwined his fingers with a girl in Jensen’s class before heading out into the night- leaving him to pick up the check, of course, “But since he took her on the first date, Rina, it’s like he’s always been, well, a decent guy who doesn’t sleep with every girl that gives him ‘the look’.” He used air quotes, because only Ashton understood what the look even was. He glanced her way then, trying to get a read on her face. This was truly shocking, for all Jensen had ever known his cousin to be was a player- so the fact that he seemed to honestly be settling down had his world rocking. “I mean, he’s gone as far as to include her sister in everything and the two rarely get along,” God, if he only knew how wrong he was about that, but how could he? “He’s in deep, and I don’t think he’ll make it out of this any better off than her if he messes this up,” he said honestly, his fingers rubbing anxiously at his thighs.
Geez, he invested an awful lot into Ashton’s love life.
He blamed it on the fact that it had been all his cousin had talked about for the longest time and the sudden change in his relationship capabilities had him paying closer attention. That, and well, it was hard not to be in tune with his alpha.
Being more than thankful that Sabrina switched the topic from such a heavy topic, he was quick to tease, “You know Ashton wouldn’t let any other girl into the pack being the patriarch that he is.” Which wasn’t quite true, he didn’t think. It never came up, for they hadn’t really met any werewolf in town that was female and looking for a pack. If they weren’t under the Pines, they were with the Gold’s. Anyone was an omega or a lost wolf passing through. Should some supernatural woman just waltz up and ask to join the pack, he honestly didn’t know what Ashton’s response would be. Maybe he should ask.
When the phone was turned in his direction, Jensen couldn’t hold back a laugh, running a hand through his bed head as he mused, “Well, you know how Blake is- living for the latest gossip he can use for his own benefit.” He hated that his friend did it, but nothing he tried ever worked. Blake couldn’t and wouldn’t be stopped.
Jensen wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing.

It wasn’t often that he would admit it aloud, if ever, but Ashton was extremely thankful for Erin’s presence. She was a welcomed distraction among the endless machines beeping and whirling, among the pounding of his own heart and the fear in Jade’s scent. Strangely enough, she was an aura of calmness amid the storm of emotion and noise in the hospital and he latched onto her as he worked at easing himself back from the ledge. He couldn’t wrap his mind around the fact that he could have lost Jade tonight, that his inability to put together her plan before tonight could have led to her death. If it hadn’t been for Sabrina. . . no, he couldn’t go down that path. Not now, not in front of them. Preferably in his bedroom when no one else was home to hear his sniffling sobs. Anyways, the point was that this was no place for him to be dramatic and her controlled shock was doing wonders to keep him from bawling.
Not that her ‘control’ was much more than he was managing, but he knew she was holding back. He’d seen her freak out over more minor things than this in the past. She was reeling it back for her sister, just like he was aiming to do.
Being an over-bearing boyfriend panicking was the last thing any of them needed right now.
He was thankful that she was distracting Jade as well, for Ashton wasn’t ready to explain the black lines dancing up his arm as he absorbed the brunt of her pain- that last little bit that the medicine wasn’t quite vanquishing. Yeah, now definitely wasn’t the time to have the ‘hey, I know you’re in here because of werewolves, but it just so happens to be that I am not only one myself, but an alpha of a pack of teenagers and an old drunk’. Though, he knew that talk had been a long time coming. Later, he promised himself. Just not with Erin in the room and their parents on the way. Parents who were hunters and surely already pissed off with werewolves tonight as it was.
He’ll get to it, okay? It’s always just a bad time.
Ashton let them banter back and forth as he kept his eyes glued to his girlfriend’s pale features, for once comfortable enough just to listen. Of course, he was until Jade gave some stupid answer as to why she hadn’t told either one of them. Huffing out a startled laugh, he asked, “And why in hell would you ever want to do anything without me?” It was all he could manage, knowing that his honest concern would be too much for any of them too carry. How would he manage to look either of them in the eye once it was out just how much he cared about her? What kind of hope would that give Jade? How would Erin feel? Because this upset her, he knew it did- that he could be open and loving with her twin, but everything they did had to be kept a dirty secret behind locked doors.
He didn’t have much longer to ponder the thought, because his mind was already shaping around his response to Erin’s quip about the victims, his eyes finding hers once more. It had been something they bickered about more than once when trying to figure out the reasoning behind the rogue pack. “We don’t know if Charlie knew anything about the supernatural world or not, Erin,” he stated, doing his best to keep any attitude out of his tone for Jade’s sake. “But she’s right, Jade,” and damn did he hate saying that, but she was. “I don’t know what I’d do if you had gotten hurt any worse than this out there on your own, baby. This isn’t worth losing you over,” he murmured as he reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind Jade’s ear, a hint of a smile on his lips as he stared into those pretty eyes of hers. It was moments like this, where she looked so goddamn beautiful no matter the circumstances, that he hated himself for cheating on her.
His head snapped up a moment too soon as he caught the sound of hurried feet making their way towards them, his hand going pale as he put a stop to taking her pain. Now wasn’t the time to get caught. Ashton couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief as it was proven that her injuries weren’t critical, but it didn’t last for long. While their mom was glaring at the pair of them, their father had his sights on where he was cradling Jade’s hand. Ash met his gaze head on, daring him to say something about it. Their dad wasn’t a fan of him, and he had figured that was just because, well, he was a dad, but as he got to know him better, he figured it had to deal more with the fact that he was a Pines and that their name had a reputation in this town. Not for being wolves- they’d kept that down the best they could- but the men in this family (aside from Jensen, that damn golden boy) weren’t known for being the best.
Their mother loved him, though. So that was a plus.
When Erin threw herself and took the blame, he was quickly reminded why he was drawn to her too. As guilty as it made him, he couldn’t help but toss a proud look her way. That brave girl was his, just like her (stupidly) brave sister was his too. It was greedy, but when hadn’t he been taking more than he could chew?
But as self-less as Erin was being, Ashton refused to let either of them take the blame when he should have known Jade was up to something. He was a damn werewolf. What good were heightened senses if he couldn’t put them to use and scent the anxiety that must have been rolling off Jade earlier that evening as he was leaving? She knew she was heading out tonight, and he should have too.
“Sir. Ma’am. I can’t let them take the blame for this,” he started sincerely, squeezing Jade’s hand as he looked each of them in the eye- doing his best to play up his southern charm, “I was the one who put the idea in their head. My cousin was good friends with Charlie and Bobbi had always treated my uncle right, I just wanted to find out what happened to them. They deserve justice- and I know this isn’t something us kids should be messing with, but I couldn’t help myself. It’s my fault. I dragged them into this, but I didn’t know they were going to head out tonight. If I had,” he gave Jade a pointed look, glancing Erin’s way to keep up with her excuse, before letting his eyes meet their father’s once more, “I would have done everything in my power to keep them safe if I hadn’t been able to convince them to stay home.”
He offered a bashful smile to their mother, one that had always worked on her before when Jade and he had begged for ‘one more hour’. “And I’m awfully sorry that I hadn’t been there for them, I- if Sabrina hadn’t been there to save Jade, I don’t know what I’d have done,” he whispered, dropping his gaze as tears brimmed at the surface- but he couldn’t cry, not here.
And no matter how honest those damn tears were, no matter how much he hated that they were there, it sold his story that much more.
