Okay so, Liam was a horrible person, he left his girlfriend without even saying goodbye and like completely missed a few months of his sister growing up but he left because of her, because he needed to change before he could see and be with his family and Rose again. He didn't want to risk hurting them if he didn't have to. Yet, he didn't even say anything to Rose, didn't text her, call her, didn't have social media for a long time. And now, now he was back, back to face what he did and back to finally actually be the #niceguy that he wanted to be again. After a few days with his family he decided to go to Rose's house after the first day of school. He decided to take Aubree his now one year old sister with him because who could be mad at someone with a cute little 14 month old in his hands. He was scared though, he wasn't sure how to react. Despite this feeling, he walked up to the door and slowly brought his hand up to the door and knocked.
That's when the door opened and Liam saw Rose for the first time in months. Liam gave his sweet smile, like he never did anything wrong. "So, I"m a dick. But I'm a dick who's wondering if you'd like to come to the park with my baby sister and I and talk?" Liam asked her. He wouldn't be shocked if Rose just closed the door on him and told her to never talk to him again. Aubree waved her hand at Rose and whispered a sweet little,"Hi."

Rose had heard from Iris earlier that day the news, she hadn't known what to think. There was a huge part of her that just wanted to run up to Liam and hug him because at least he was alive and well (or at least she hoped he was) but there was also another part that just wanted to slap him. She hadn't done either of those things and had spent the whole day avoiding him by hiding out on the school bleachers with Leon. The school day had passed in a wave of worry and panic though as she tried to think of what she was going to do when she did finally see him.
She just hadn't expected to see him like this, at her house whilst he was carrying his younger sister. Well jokes on you Liam, Rose had seen enough of young toddlers these past few months to not be swayed by their cuteness. Instead after opening the door and realising it was him, Rose had just started, hand gripping onto the door frame to keep her standing upright. "Yeah, you're a dick." She finally said, crossing her arms over her chest. So far she was acting surprisingly calm, she hadn't expected herself to act like this. It was almost like she was entirely detached from the situation at hand. "I will go to the park with you though but this is your only chance, so know that." This was his final chance, there was no way she was walking back into anything to do with him if she couldn't trust him, whether that was friendship or something more, at the moment she wanted nothing to do with him so he had to impress her.

Liam hadn't known what to expect. There were so many different variations of what could happen going on in his mind. She could run up and hug him, she could close the door in his face, she could agree to go and somehow, some way, she did a little bit of both and for some reason that made Liam feel a little releaved. She had decided to go but she hadn't promised anything and that was the Rose that Liam knew and loved. Maybe the feelings would never go away, and he was sure Rose wouldn't take him back but he at least wanted to be a friend or someone to her. They were bestfriends for the longest time and now, Liam ruined all of that.
Liam smiled at her, grateful that she had decided to go with him and he was grateful that he would now be able to explain everything to her. He didn't think she wanted him to hold her hand or anything so he kept his hands to himself and began to walk to the park. He put aubree in the swing and began to push her. "Look Rose," Liam started, hesitating a little bit. He had to be careful with what he said because his sister repeated everything so maybe y'know bringing her along wasn't the best of ideas. He thought about how to code this so that his little sister wouldn't find out. "When I left I didn't have control over my emotions, I needed to figure out what to do. For you and Aubree and my family...and I didn't want to tell you because it was like admitting defeat. That I wasn't as strong as I thought I was or that everyone thought I was. It was the scariest thing I had face even scarier than when I had cancer because I didn't want to hurt anybody and I thought I'd come back and surprise you....show you the control I gained. In hindsight I should've told you I was looking at colleges in Italy or something."

Rose kept their walk to the park silent and she was grateful that the park wasn't too far away from her house. It was so strange to be with Liam like this, as if one word or statement could just make or break them. It hadn't never been like that for them before, she'd always known what to say to him and vice versa and now, now this was becoming a very painful walk where she didn't know how to make idle chit chat. Rose watched as Liam put Aubree in the swing and momentarily wondered if she should have Elena and Aubree meet so that they could be toddle friends.
Snapping into focus when Liam began to speak, she noticed his hesitation and she could see why. He'd brought his sister with him and probably didn't want her to know the truth. Ah, a conversation in code, perfect. Rose didn't know how to react other than to feel sad. Glancing down at her feet, Rose toed the ground in front of her, trying to think of something worthwhile to say in a way which wouldn't make her too angry or him too upset. "Liam, you don't know what it's been like these past few months." Rose looked up, sparing a look at Aubree before taking a step closer to Liam in hope that Aubree wouldn't hear. "I had no idea what had happened to you, no one did." Rose paused for a second before adding what she'd been worried about the whole time Liam had been gone, "I thought you were dead." She'd spent countless nights talking to Iris about it, asking her what she thought and offering her counsel as well. She was also curious about Jasper. They'd both felt hard done by.
"You should have told me, it would have taken you 5 minutes and it would have saved me so much worry." She knew deep inside that she'd been so worried because she cared about him so much, once she'd called it love but now she wasn't so sure. "I'm glad that you're in control now though."
