Her eyes followed the movement of his head. Ah, there it was. If Jade had been more aware of her surroundings then she probably would have seen it, then again, it was very easy for all these shops to blend into each other. To be honest, Jade was surprised that a movie rental shop would still be open anywhere, let alone this town in California, wasn't the world all for streaming whatever they pleased? Clearly not. Jade could see the appeal in renting a movie though, holding the case in your hand and putting the DVD in a DVD player and then not having it buffer. Jade was relieved to hear that even he got lost, a smile cutting it's way across her face even if he was just saying it for her sake.
Her head shot up though, eyes bright with a new found joy, yes, that sounded like a good idea. No, Jade didn't want to seem too keen but of course she was going to take up this offer. It was the best she'd heard in a while. "That sounds great actually. I'd bring Erin but I don't think she gets on with Ashton too well." Jade was happy with it just being the three of them, it was the kind of combination that had to be easy, fun.
Regaining her composure, Jade nodded her head towards the movie store. "Lets get going then," seemed she'd found herself a friend pretty easily.

Jensen watched as Jade glanced at the movie rental store, could almost see the gears working in her mind as surprise crossed her features. He couldn’t believe that there were even any left, let alone two in the same Californian town- though Video 2*C was going pretty far downhill. No one really ever went there, with it being so out of the way and all, but it was still persistent. Still open, however miraculous that is. He could see the charm to it all, but it was just so inconvenient to go through the rental process that he really just preferred Netflix, but desperate times call for desperate measures and he really wanted to watch this movie. The Patriot, a classic his mother used to watch with him when he was a kid and TNT refused to play anything else. Maybe it was because of his American History class, or because Ashton kept raving about Mel Gibson the day prior (his cousin had a man-crush on the guy and Jensen hadn’t a clue why- he was a decent actor, but really?) but he had to watch the movie now. To relive some childhood memories or just to freshen up on the Civil War, he didn’t know. What he did know is that if this place didn’t have the movie, he may lose it- which is so very un-Jensen like, but it’s like searching for a song you only know a line to. It’s a thirst that needs to be satisfied or he’ll suffer.
Or he’s just being a dramatic teen boy desperate for a war movie- blood and violence and all that.
Jensen caught her eagerness at his proposal and couldn’t stop himself from smirking. Though it was quick to wash off, his features sobering at the mention of ‘Erin’. “Yeah, I don’t think they do either,” he says, sheepish as he looks down at the ground, his hand latched back onto his neck- a nervous tick, “Last time I saw them together, she smacked him pretty hard- though knowing Ashton, especially being drunk, he probably deserved it.” He gives her a small shrug as a ‘what can ya do’ kind of statement before nodding, wanting to get off the topic, “Yeah, let’s.”
He takes a step towards the shop, glancing at her before carrying on. Jensen couldn’t remember much after that- at the party, that is. He’d been with Iris, talking, and then all of a sudden Ashton was knocked down and the girl, who he later learned was Erin, stormed off- leaving Ashton to follow. His cousin didn’t tell him what happened after, but he can’t imagine it was any good.

Ha- so she hadn't been imagining some kind of angst between Ashton and Erin! Jade couldn't help but be curious as to what Jensen thought of their relationship, she didn't know how much he knew her sister but evidently he'd met her at some point. Ah, the halloween party. Jade had opted out of that night, choosing to just stay at home and scroll through her social networks until having the spontaneous idea to make a pizza from scratch at 9 pm. Long story short the idea of pizza making had been stopped when she realsied she only had the cheese aspect of the recipe. "Wait- she smacked him?" Jade was sure Erin hadn't told her that, had managed to skip over that detail. Well then. Deciding to leave that train of thought there before her mind went into overdrive considering what had caused the slap, Jade followed Jensen to the store.
Entering the store, Jade first took note of the music choice they were blasting- some emo band it sounded like with way too much guitar for Jade's liking. She had no idea what film Jensen was actually looking for, turning to him, Jade decided that it'd probably be worth finding out, "so, what was the film?"
(This is really short and bad i'm sorry</3)

Jensen froze up for a moment, eyes darting her way for a moment before glared ahead and picked up his pace again- not wanting to get run into by an unknowing shopper because he had halted in the middle of the walkway. Should he have not said that? Clearly Erin had avoided telling Jade about the incident for a reason. He didn't know either of them well, so he couldn't even fathom a reason why her sister wouldn't have told her aside from not wanting to upset Jade because she so clearly had a crush on his cousin. But he'd already spilled the beans, might as well explain what happened and not leave Jade further in the dark. With a anxious wave of his hand in her direction as they walked into the rental store, the music making him cringe for a moment before he explained, "She did. They were both pretty wasted and what Ashton told me was that he'd something pretty bad and that he deserved it." He shrugged, leaving it at that because he didn't know how to explain that his cousin had went after her- frankly, Jensen didn't know what happened in that room. Ashton hadn't told him, and he hadn't asked.
At her second question, Jensen went back into action and set out on a mission to find the film. He headed towards action, figuring he'd start there and make his way through the store until he had it in hand. Over his shoulder, he detailed the film, "It's called 'The Patriot'. It's a Mel Gibson movie, set during the Civil War era- we're going over the war now in History and Ashton won't shut up about Mel so I kind of just had the need to watch it. Used to watch it a lot with my mom and I don't know," his shoulder raised for a moment and then sank, shrugging to be something he planned on doing a lot today, "It's a good movie." He flashed her a soft smile before beginning his search, wondering how she would take the information.

Jade listened with open ears, eyes narrowed at the ground. She'd been drunk, she'd smacked him which was, in part, probably because of him. It sounded so much like Erin yet felt so foreign for Jade to hear, the have to understand and come to terms with. Pushing a hand through her hair, Jade's eyes shot towards Jensen, trying to read from his facial features and behavior if there was more that he wasn't letting on. Then again, at the end of it, did she really want to know more? No, well, not from Jensen anyway. He'd been nice enough to tell her all of this, if Jade wanted more information she'd get it from her sister.
In the shop, Jade trailed after Jensen, taking in the shop as she past it whilst trying to recall the last time she'd been in a movie store, must have been over a year if not two. "Mel Gibson... wasn't he in Chicken Run, too?" Jade asked with a grin, stopping by Jensen's side. Almost sounded like Ashton had a crush on Mel if he'd been talking about the actor a fair bit, ah well, each to their own and hadn't Jade already established that Ashton was turned on by burritos so frankly following that, this should be no surprise. Crouching down to look at some of the lower shelves, Jade's fingers ran over the cases whilst quickly reading them, no, not down here. Standing up with a click of her knees, Jade went to look behind them, only noticing a beat to late that this would probably be the wrong section for a Civil War era movie, after all, this was a Star Wars movie she was looking at. Turning back round to Jensen, "spotted it yet?" Jade asked as she rubbed a hand over her neck.

A breath of relief fell silently from Jensen’s lips as Jade didn’t press the topic of Ashton and Erin any further, because he honestly didn’t trust himself to not spill something his cousin didn’t want him to (not that he knew much about what happened anyways, but still). He was honest to a flaw. The truth had always been his forte. Someone had to be the good to balance Ashton’s bad, after all- and Jensen didn’t mind that role all that much. Still, he was glad the topic was dropped, leaving him with nothing but Mel on his mind- which Ashton would be immensely proud of.
He paused in his search to let out a bark of a laugh, eyes finding Jade as he nodded and said, “Yeah, that’s him,” pausing for a moment as he shook his head and went back to fingering the spines of the cases as he looked for ‘The Patriot’, “God, I forgot he was in that movie.” He’d seen that stupid chicken film too many times to count, but he’d be lying if he said it didn’t have a soft spot in his heart. Maybe it was just in the Pines’ gene pool to have an affliction for Mel Gibson. Best if he didn’t look too deep into that.
A smile lingered on his lips as he continued the hunt for his movie, eyes narrowed as he eyed all of the titles in the action section- wasn’t in alphabetical order, the workers seemingly too lazy to do their job and organize the shelves after the crowds have picked through the selection. He was just about to give up hope, to tell Jade the bad news that it just didn’t seem to be here when the familiar case caught his eye. End of the middle shelf, caught between a mess of neon-colored cases- there it was. Red, white, and blue, ‘The Patriot’ in all of its glory. He was quick to snag it, almost as if he was afraid someone else would take it before he had the chance to- though it was clear that no one else had even touched it in ages if the dust had any say. Letting out an elated laugh, he held it up and looked the girl’s way as he beamed, “I found it!”
Like a kid in a candy shop.

"I think most people try and forget Chicken Run if they can." Jade suggested with a lazy smirk, fingering a DVD case's plastic coat before realising what she was doing (beginning to undo the packet was what she was wondering, girl didn't know how to chill) and stepping away with a small shuffle. Jade had tried to enjoy cartoons when she was younger but there was just something about them that she struggled to understand and enjoy. Maybe it was the weird way most of the characters looked or the fact that at some point in the film someone just had to sing but Jade struggled to sit through a full feature length film with a cartoon cast- and yes, that included Disney films.
The quick movement of Jensen's hand and arm caught Jade off guard as she'd been lazily staring at the shelf. Attention now on him and what he'd found, Jade was relieved to see that it was what they'd come looking for. "You found it!" Jade replied matching his words with a laugh, Jensen looked rather proud at this moment which was funny given the context. "I was getting worried then that it wasn't going to be in this shop and you'd be devastated for the rest of the day." Jade said with a soft smile before looking up and around her to see if she could find a sign for the till to pay at. Ah, just over there in the left corner of the shop. "Is that all you need or are there more Mel Gibson films you have an urge to watch?"

That was it. Jensen only needed one Mel Gibson movie for the day, couldn't promise about tomorrow though. He paid for the movie, and on a whim asked if Jade would like to join him and Ashton to watch the movie.
His cousin was stupidly happy when Jade walked into his little home on the outskirts of town, settled down beside her on the couch while Jensen watched from a distance. He treated Jade much different than Erin, he couldn't help but note as the night drew to a close and his cousin didn't so much as move in for a kiss. Keeping it innocent. Treating her right.
Jensen could only hope it stayed this way, but knowing Ashton, he worried.
