Trouble.
That’s who he was and just how it is. Where ever he went, whatever he did- rarely did something good ever come out of it.
Since the moment he was born, he’s raised nothing but havoc. It’s just a simple fact. Ashton equals trouble. So when his parents met their demise in a fatal car accident on their way to one of his boxing tournaments and the rug was ripped out from under his feet- well, he found his footing, pat off the dust, and walked back on the hardwood floor, cursing his fall. He didn’t care for that rug anyways.
Loss wasn’t something he dealt well with. Not when it came to competitions, and definitely not when it came to death. It was his Achilles heel, what made him weak. He could take a punch, he could handle a broken heart and some cruel words. He could even manage being a freak of nature who took a howl at the moon once a month (okay, not quite so stereotypical, but the point was made- werewolf boy), but knock down his ego and take away the people closest to him? Yeah, you’ll manage to get him flat on his back, licking his wounds as he whimpers and sighs.
It took time to recover- god, his parents were six feet under, of course it did. A week was what he gave himself, determined to not let his sudden orphan status deem him as weak. He wasn’t. He was okay- or at least he would be. Eventually. Until then, he’d play it up. Ashton was a fairly decent actor, pretending he wasn’t a mutt and selling any lie that graced his lips with ease. So this wasn’t new. He’d play the part of being fine and along the line it’ll just fall in place. Character bleed. He’ll just become the hero he’s painted in his head- though most would deem him a villain.
He was a dick, naturally born and never changing. He had his chinks in his armor, everyone did. At least his wasn’t a freaking green rock. Jesus, he couldn’t stand Superman. Batman was where it’s at, and look at that- he’s already got the dead parents. He needs a checklist: fear of bats, black suit that over exaggerates his abs, and a British butler. Well, he could check off the last one- his uncle wasn’t a butler of any sort, most likely sold organs on the black market- the creep, but he did have one mean accent.
Off topic, completely. Get back on track. Personality trait listing, go.
Ashton was all charm- seductive grins, gentle touches, and the richest purr ever heard. He was a lady killer, chick magnet, etc. Though he played that card far more often than he should. When he was in the mood, he’d have a girl in his lap- because he was hot and he knew it. Ashton could have just about any girl he wanted just based on his looks alone, so most of the time? He did. Love was a thing he believed scarcely in. His parents’, bless them, relationship hadn’t been the smoothest, and every other marriage around him fell apart at the seams one way or another- he just didn’t see the point in wasting time in playing that game. Where he let women believe they held a place in his heart, it was all part of an act. If it took three measly words to get up her skirt, then he'd waste his breath and promise something he'd never fulfill.
Well, he says that now, but he figured there’d be someone who would worm their way into his heart- there always was one.
The general douchiness aside, Ash wasn’t unfriendly, no. He was quite charismatic and had no problem carrying a conversation. It wasn’t his goal to ruin anyone’s day, but he didn’t plan to make it either. He spoke his mind, and if someone didn’t like it- they just usually smacked him and scoffed, but he was used to it at this point. He wasn’t the easiest person to get along with, but he was funny. That made up for his shenanigans, right?
So new town meant getting new people used to his general bluntness and messy flirting habits.
Best place to start? The mall.
Not bothering to ‘dress up’ for the whole ordeal, he just slithered out of his truck in jeans, a white tee, and a grey hoodie left unzipped and flapping in the wind. His hair was untamed- he didn’t even bother trying to deal with that mess. It looked fine how it was anyhow. Hello? Permanent hottie here.
With easy, confident steps, Ashton made his way into the mall, emerald irises scanning the crowds as he tried to pick out faces that seemed to accommodate his needs. He’d search until one fit the bill.
Or until someone bumped into him in this crowded place.

Thoughts on Beacon Hills so far? Relatively dull, little to do, not big enough nor close enough to a beach to be exciting. So overall it seemed rather bleak and simply uninteresting or at least Jade thought so. She hoped though that the mall may be entertaining because her other option was to spend the day at home reading which wasn't boring exactly but Jade didn't want to have to read To Kill a Mockingbird again so that she could 'make fluent, understandable notes this time.' In her opinion her drawing of Scout in a ham costume had been all the notes she'd needed. Her teacher disagreed.
The cool of the mall shocked Jade for a moment, the heat in California was still very much there and Jade had never agreed with things being too hot to the point where if you touched a piece of metal you'd flinch, it seemed a bit unnecessary. Therefore even though the chill air was a contrast to outside it was rather welcoming even if there seemed to be a faint coverage of goosebumps over Jade's bare arms. Oh well, she'd acclimatize soon enough.
Now Jade had never been one for shopping but watching other people shop was a good past time. Quite frankly Jade liked to judge what they would buy, which probably came from calculating how Erin looked her entire life. Gotta have that sisterly judgmental 'I can't believe you're wearing that!' bond.
That's how it happened. Jade had been too busy watching a 16 year old girl with clearly dyed blonde hair hold a crop top, which looked at least 2 sizes too small for, against her frame when she stumbled, losing her balance resulting in her crashing into someone. Smooth her sister would be proud, not.
"Fuck." Another thing, Jade swore, a lot , mainly because her parents hated it and who didn't love pissing off their elders? "Sorry." Stepping back, Jade took her first look at who she'd bumped into. It was her fault so a sorry was given although that's as far as the apology would go. This person looked unfamiliar, then again Jade knew hardly anyone here.

"Woah, little lady," Ashton purred, his forever repressed Texas accent peaking through- which he quickly stamped down on as his hand shot out to steady the girl who barreled into him, but his hand fell quick as she stepped out of his hold. Whatever, he played his part in 'helping' her out. He'd say it was a job well done. A round of applause, a small bow- he could go home and feel satisfied at his act of social aide for the day.
Talk about ego.
A smirk tainted his lips as he eyed her up and down once- not bad, but he also didn't really care. He had rules when it came to playing with hearts, and preferred to stay out of that whole mess the best he could- but there were those few that snagged him. Best not even think of it, thoughts like that only fed his imagination- and god, who knew if this girl would even stick around to tell him her name? Shut it down, Ashton.
He dragged a hand through his unruly hair and spoke easily, "Mm, I'd watch it out here. Not everyone is so easy going when someone tries to shove them over, ya know?" Teasing, it was his specialty- one that admittedly got him smacked more often than not, but it was fun. Sue him. It's not like he'd stop even then.
How else is he supposed to get his kicks in this new town?
Nibbling on his lower lip as he side-eyed the rest of the crowd, he found most of them scowling at the pair of teens halted in the center of the walk way. Too bad, he didn't care. Stepping around them didn't ruin their day. Exercise and all that.
Granting the girl his attention fully once again, he hummed lowly as if thinking before asking, "So does the human bulldozer have a name?"
He was really expecting her to kick him in the shin or something, but he'd praise her if she could take a joke. Not everyone can, so the few that do are usually cherished.
Or at least in his book.

Catching only the end of his statement, even though she could tell he'd reached out to help her, she shot him a glare. Like Erin, she wasn't one for pet names and she'd make that known in whatever was the first way that she could think of. She watched him studiously, a wary look in her eyes, knowing he was evaluating her, not doing anything to stop it, yet. Finally shifting her position so that her hands rested in the back pockets of her jeans, Jade followed the movement of his hair before tuning in to what he was saying.
"You were in the way." Erin commented idly, tossing her hair over one shoulder in a swish of partially curled tips. She noticed the tease in his voice and part of her had relaxed. The matter of whether this stranger had been blocking the path or she'd been just oblivious to her surroundings, wasn't important as he nibbled on his lower lip and Jade tore her attention away, to the ground. Boys still got her stomach in a twist, attractive ones were the worst and as powerful as she knew she could be once her family had located the supernatural, the male species was still daunting, terrifying even.
The low hum made Jade's eyes drift slowly up to the boy. "I'm not a bloody bulldozer." Jade replied with some gumption although her eyes had a glow of bemusement in them although it went out like a light once she blinked. "But I am known as Jade," I am known as Jade, what the hell kind of sentence was that, curling up her fingers, Jade cast her eyes aside, willing herself to get.it.together. for the love of God. "Does the human road block have a name?" Jade asked after a moment, spinning the question back to him.

Biting his tongue seemed like the best option here. To not comment on how it was her who had actually run into him, and he hadn’t been in anyone’s way. He had simply been drifting along with the rest of the crowd and this girl just so happened to decide to run into him individually. Her fault, not his- not that it bothered him anyhow, accidents happened and no one was actually harmed- and he really should just keep his mouth shut and not say anything that would cause further drama. He really should.
So of course he didn’t.
“I was in the way?” He scoffed, falsely agitated, and the playful smirk gave that away- Ashton didn’t want her getting the wrong idea here. He wasn’t mad at all, not even a little bit, and he really didn’t want her to think that way. Thus, the small smile on his lips as he continued, “Personally, I think you purposefully ran into me because you wanted a reason to talk to me.” The boy threw in a wink for good measure, letting her know he was teasing.
Ashton caught her gaze lingering on his lips for just the briefest moments before she quickly diverted her attention. Honestly, he was used to. Teen boy with a pretty face, and sometimes it got old. Girls swooned, boys spitted him- blah blah blah. All that jazz. He knew he was attractive, and yes he played it up occasionally to get what he wanted, but he was always slightly taken aback whenever he caught someone staring- never fully used to it.
Shrugging it off and just jogging it up as the norm, Ashton cocked his head slightly as her gaze found his again- and god, he really liked her attitude. All the spice and sass and bite- it vaguely reminded him of the girl he'd met the first day of school. Maybe Beacon Hills was just stuffed to the brim with bitter women. Though he wasn't really be all that bothered by the idea of that.
Ashton couldn't contain the chuckle that rose with her words, head tilted back and a hand pressed against his stomach as he laughed. Not a bloody bulldozer- god, he loved that comeback.
Calming down from his outburst, he wiped at his eyes and evened his breathing. With a large grin on his face, he nodded and slowly repeated, "Jade." His lips formed a considerate pout before he nodded, "Yeah, I like it." Not that his opinion on her name really mattered.
Holding in his next bout of laughter by sheer will, he nodded and spoke around his blinding grin, "Yes, in fact, the human road block does have a name- it's Ashton."
Without giving it a second thought, he offered his hand out for her to shake, lips still curved upwards.
This was the happiest he's been since his parents passed.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] back off motherfucker DO YOU THINK I'M STUCK UP CAUSE I'M ALWAYS PICKING FIGHTS? [attr="class","itokaytext"]"Wait for me, i just need to get my jacket" Of course Jade hadn't waited for her, meaning Erin had to get to the mall by herself, and then look for her. There was no denying that the two sisters were close, but they were just pretty selfish when it came down to it- well, no, they weren't selfish girls, really they were anything but, they just weren't that patient. Erin was a little bit pissed off, but she wasn't one to hold grudges about something small like that, so she just headed over to the mall by herself and prepared herself for looking through the crowds for her petite sister. Crowds were not Erin's thing, to say the least. She hated crowds, always had and probably always would. There was just something about a load of strangers pushing up against her as she tried to get where she wanted to go that just wasn't appealing to her.
She finally decided to check out one of the clothes shops, as she knew from experience that her sister had a weird habit of watching people shop and judging their fashion choices, so it seemed like a good idea. She hadn't even made it to the shop before she saw her sister talking to someone who she couldn't recognise, as his back was to her, but she headed over anyway. "Hey, thanks for waiting" She said as she approached the pair, completely ignoring the fact that they might actually be having a conversation.

"Ah, yes. I always go out of my way to run into cocky boys." As nervous as Jade could be around the opposite sex, her personality didn't change and she could still be a sarcastic mothertrucker if she wanted to be, it was engraved in her to some extent. The wink pushed the sass, the momentary confidence out of her and she just stood there with a partially dumb smile on her face before she could pull herself together. Honestly, if she didn't find a grip in a second she'd need to abort this entire conversation.
After a moment though, the look was gone and Jade was stood up straight, seeming un-bothered by the conversation and the way his green eyes sparkl- no, maybe she didn't have a grip yet.
He liked her name, Jade grinned at that, unable to stop it before she realised that his opinion on her name was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. She liked his name. It suited him nicely although she wouldn't admit that since she was trying to look the epitome of causal, and she was beginning to think it was working, this keeping up cool, false appearances thing.
Glancing down at his hand, Jade was about to take it, to shake of course, not to hold, honest but someone had stolen her attention. It occurred to her then, the thing she'd forgotten - her sister. Eyes widening, Jade took a step towards her sister although she quickly went back to where she'd been stood when Erin continued walking towards them.
"Ah, Erin, sorry." It was a weak apology, basically pointless but Jade wasn't sure what else to say. Her patience had wain thin that morning and even though she'd given Erin an 120 second countdown, the girl still hadn't come so Jade had left. It didn't occur to Jade to introduce Ashton to Erin, their conversation had gotten sidetracked at her sisters appearance.

"And I always make sure to let at least one pretty girl run into me," he purrs with a smirk printed permanently on his lips, chin tilted up in a cocky manor. His eyes sparkled with a teasing glint as he looked her over once more, still curious as to who she was and what she planned to gain out of this interaction. Honestly, Ashton enjoyed her company, quite liking the way she rolled with the punches he threw and tossed a few of her own right back at him. This dance they were doing, the banter they were exchanging- it was all what he looked for in someone when he was searching for company. Many people didn't take well to the teasing and taunting and cocky manor he held, but Jade? She was golden, and he silently applauded her for being compatible with him.
Silence fell upon them, the chatter and hustle of the crowd around them muting the soft stares they sent each other. His fingers wiggled as if to entice her into shaking his hand. Maybe she had a germ issue. Or maybe she just didn't like touch, or didn't do this where she was from. Was she from here though? He didn't know, being new himself and all. Maybe the people of Beacon Hills just didn't touch hands weird.
Before his thoughts could steer into any odder directions, there was a familiar voice barking behind him and Jade's attention was stolen. That was rude, for one thing, but he couldn't be bothered to express that when the girl he'd just meet spoke the addition to their chat's name. Erin. No way. Turning swiftly on his heel, a grin parted his lips, joy rushing through his veins as he recalled how much he'd annoyed her. That was a good day. "It's you!" Ashton cheered, a laugh falling off his lips as if he didn't really believe it. Glancing over at Jade, he arched his brows and tried to connect the dots, "You know Ms. Grumpy Gills?" He fell into an aura of calm, letting his excitement tapper down as he glanced between the two.
Oh, this would be entertaining.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] back off motherfucker DO YOU THINK I'M STUCK UP CAUSE I'M ALWAYS PICKING FIGHTS? [attr="class","itokaytext"]Erin smiled at Jade, shaking her head to tell her not to worry about it "Nah, it's cool-" She began saying, but she was cut off quickly by the guy her sister had been talking to. Her eyebrows shot up when she saw who Jade had been talking to- a bit surprised. Obviously there was no reason that she should be surprised, after all, they all lived in Beacon Hills, and they were all the same or very similar ages, so it made sense that they'd meet at some point. But still. She thought her sister might have better taste. She pushed that thought away- maybe she should give him another chance. She had been pretty pissed off in general when she'd last seen him, and he'd obviously been playing off that, but who wouldn't? Maybe she should try talking to him now she wasn't pissed off and she might get a better opinion on him. After all, Jade seemed to like him, and she tended to trust her opinion on things and people.
Just as she'd finished that thought he turned his attention back to Jade as Erin took her place next to her, across from Ashton, and he refereed to her as 'Ms grumpy gills'. Already he was trying to piss her off. Okay then. "Ms grumpy gills is actually her sister" Erin replied with an obviously fake smile, the kind that made it obvious you were calling them an idiot without actually saying it.

Okay, so at least Erin wasn't mad at her, that was a positive. What surprised Jade was that Erin and Ashton had already met, well, that wasn't that surprising but still, Jade would have thought Erin would have mentioned someone like him. Then again, she didn't seem to be particularly enthralled by his company. Jade's eyes flicked between the pair quickly, trying to fit the pieces of their knowing each other together. Jade could only assume school, they hadn't really met anyone else from anywhere else.
With Erin beside her, Jade felt put together for the first time since she;d laid eyes on the boy, with his lil cocky smile which she needed to stop thinking about because crushes on people you'd just met, were overrated, right? Besides this wasn't a 'crush' this was just her admitting that he was too attractive for his own good and that she had no chill and needed to relax.
It was obvious to see how much Ashton was enjoying this. Jade forced herself to smother her giggle at the 'grumpy gills' comment, although on occasion that was not a bad way to describe her sister. Then again Jade wasn't perfect. The effect was immediate, Erin seemed to tense up and Jade's amusement faded at her twins reaction. This was a tricky situation, obviously Jade would defend her sister through thick and thin but then again, it had been a funny thing to say and Jade didn't really want to lie to herself or anyone for that matter. At Erin's comment, Jade smiled as if to confirm that this was true. "Twins, actually. This lil asshole is mine." Jade teased, nudging her shoulder against Erin. Although they weren't identical in looks they did sometimes do those rumored 'creepy twin things,' or at least they did when they were younger; like the time Erin had started crying in school and Jade, in a completely different room had also started crying. Yeah, weird.

To be honest, Ashton had a very hard time gripping the concept of biting his tongue, of keeping the thoughts swirling around in that head of his out of his mouth. He understood that it was a vital tool needed to actually maintain a conversation, that not everything he had to say was pleasant and people didn't tend to stick around when people spoke their mind. It shouldn't be that way. People should want honesty. They should want that bluntness and not some feeble lies to get them through the day, but it just wasn't the way things worked. No, they turned their nose up at the things he'd say, frown upon his unkempt vocabulary.
The jist of it all is Ashton is annoying and no one likes him.
He considered the two, gaze batting between- searching. Nothing screamed twins, and he would have never guessed, but now being told, he could easily pick apart the personalities. Both bubbling with sass, brimming at the rims with defiance and quick wit. Though, where Erin left a bitter taste in his mouth and was ever sour, Jade was a bumbling blusher and slow to get her tongue to cooperate. Or at least, these were his observations from his short span with the two. He could easily see them getting on, a spitfire group that didn't deal with anyone's crap.
If he could on get over the hurdle that was Erin's attitude.
It didn't bother him. In fact, he loved that she so blatantly couldn't stand him- but if he actually wanted to keep this company? Well, he'd have to do a little work to persuade her into caring for his presence. Plus, he doubted being awfully rude to one would exactly please the other.
So take this as a lesson (temporarily) learned. He withheld the sarcasm.
Nodding slowly, he sucked his lower lip into his mouth, nibbling on the vulnerable flesh as his gaze batted between the two. "Hmm," he hummed almost conversationally, still considering the twins. He waited for the moment the shock hit him, that some mystical 'twin' thing would happen- and when nothing happened, he just shrugged, the embodiment of nonchalant. "Gotcha," Ashton said with a hint of a drawl, glancing around the mall before tossing his hands in the air (ever gesticular) to motion to where they were blocking the hall, "So would you guys like to stop being- as Jade so cleverly said- human road blocks and head to the food court?"
He arched a brow, tossing in, "Food's on me," for a good measure. An act of kindness went a long ways.
Or maybe it was a little goes a long ways.
Whatever, close enough.

Jade waited a moment for Erin, 'the braver one' as it seemed so often, to say something in response. But whether Jade didn't give her enough time to say something or Erin had nothing to say, Jade was the one to answer Ashton. Part of Jade must have been really paying attention to him as her ears picked up on the drawl in her words and she wondered if he wasn't from here, maybe, like them, he was new?
"Actually, you were the human roadblock. I wasn't stood in the way." Jade said flippantly although her tone was teasing and the smile on her face proved she wasn't being serious. Tossing a glance over to Erin, Jade hoped she'd catch her eye since Jade felt bad agreeing to lunch if Erin really didn't want to spend time with him. If it had just been Jade, she'd have said yes, no problem, no hesitation at all. With her sister though, well, she did enough for her that she wasn't going to force her - whether it was accidental or not - into a situation she'd hate.
Willing for Erin to pay attention to her, Jade wished and not for the first time in her life, that she and her twin had some weird telepathy thing going on. It would be so useful.

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Josefin Sans"] back off motherfucker DO YOU THINK I'M STUCK UP CAUSE I'M ALWAYS PICKING FIGHTS? [attr="class","itokaytext"]The suggestion of a meal paid for by Ashton was a bit out of the blue, and took Erin back a little. Why he'd decided a meal was the way to go in this situation she didn't know, but he obviously thought it was the right thing. She, personally, did want to say no, as she was trying to be civil with the boy at the very least, and spending more time with him would just mean that he would be able to play with her a little more and piss her. Still, it was obvious that Jade was enjoying his company, and Erin didn't want to upset her by saying no. Everything Erin went through and did was to try and make Jade happier. Her hands were blood red so her twins could be pure.
So, she nodded, despite her own wishes, and agreed to have lunch him. "Sure" She said, looking quickly over at Jade and smiling at her. Sure, she knew that she could tell the two to go and get lunch by themselves and Erin could meet them later, but she thought that if she did suggest that her twin would protest and miss out on making a friend.

Maybe if he had a sibling he'd understand these glances between the girls. Was it just a twin thing, or were all blood brothers and sisters like this? He figures that they may just all be this way. A silent conversation flowing between the glares from one sibling to another, telepathy of some sort. Echolocation, transfering thoughts through the sheer force of their stare. It could just be familiarity, after being intertwined with each for so long that they just know.
Or Ashton was just an idiot and none of that happened at all. He wouldn't know, the closest thing he had to a sibling was Chad- a squinty-eyed, blonde troublemaker who played as his double, his only true friend back in Texas. So maybe there was something more to siblings, maybe not- all that mattered was whatever went on between Erin and Jade's silent gaze ended up with them agreeing.
Fantastic.
A soft (for once, non-daunting) grin peeled his pale pink (and obnoxiously plump) lips back from his blindingly white teeth, eyes twinkling with hope (and a hint of mischievousness) as he nodded along to Erin's singular reply. She probably only agreed to please Jade, but hey, he'd take what he could get. "Nice," he said with a loud slap of his palms, spinning on his heels- turning towards the direction of the food court. Taking a step forward, he tossed a look over his shoulder, winking at the girls as he cooed, "Come on, food's awaitin'."
Ashton really hoped they'd join his step rather than hanging back- that'd be no fun.

At Erin's agreement, Jade sent her a beaming smile, grateful that she'd said yes to this; hopefully they wouldn't regret it.Hmm, yes, it was nice, Jade thought as she watched him spin around. Her own fingers brushing against Erin's hand, Jade began to follow after Ashton although making sure to keep herself in step with her twin. Part of her was certain that she was going to bolt into the crowd at the earliest convenience.
Had Jade made any friends since they'd moved to Beacon Hills? No, not really.
