Natalia was back, clearly, she wasn't the only one to return to Beacon Hills though after an absence. Through the grapevine, aka Rose, Natalia had been informed that Sam was back. Now, what were her feelings for Sam? They'd hit it off before she'd left and well, things had been... nice between them although there had been no 'sexual' actions between them so to speak. There was definitely a tension between them that hinted that there could be. Or at least that's what Natalia had thought before he went back to school and she later fled to Mexico to join her pack which had worked but then Alex and Rose had dragged her back, Natalia wasn't mad although at first she'd wanted to refuse to leave, after all, she was part of a pack there but she had no friends (although she didn't really have any friends in Beacon Hills, just a handful -okay maybe more than a handful- of enemies) and no family there so she came.
Sitting at a lone table in the corner of the cafe, Natalia was nursing a coffee between her hands, eyes locked on the window, wondering if she wanted to go and find Sam or if that seemed to suspiciously eager especially since whilst in Mexico she may have had a one night stand... maybe but that wasn't important now. It was while she was gazing out of the window that her eyes latched onto the very person she was thinking of heading towards the door of the cafe. Fingers grasping more tightly around the cup, Natalia waited with anticipation for him to come inside and notice her. Jeez, when had she become to soft and desperate.

Coffee. Yeah, coffee would solve all of his problems. Of course, it would. No doubt. The sugar-induced liquid would be the mystical cure-all to his stress, totally. One sip and the problems would drift off. That's all it would take and oh- who was he kidding? He was definitely doubting the 'magical' power of coffee, but that didn't stop his trek over to the quaint little cafe he used to frequent as a teen.
Sam had been on edge, more so presently than normal when it came to returning home to a household stuffed with disapproval and angst. Why? Oh, just because this time around there was no Theodore waiting to have his back or Noelle to stand off for him. Nope. His brother was out of state for the summer on a hunt up north, and his little sister was roaming the country with their cousin on a 'college road trip'. Not to mention it he wasn't just returning to his scornful father and absent mother, but to his high school crush, he couldn't quite shake. Not that he wanted to shake her, or maybe he did- oh god, he needs the coffee now to prevent the panic attack rearing its ugly head.
Not much had happened with Natalia. He had taken her back to his house and they stayed up all night talking- which lead to her drooling on his shoulder and him inevitably sleeping on the cramped couch after depositing her on his bed. After that, not too much went on. With the holidays and all, there was just no time to rekindle any old flames. Were there any flames? Was their meeting just a fluke? God, Sam could be such a girl sometimes. Just chill out, breathe in, and move on. Natalia is a grown woman, as he was a grown man. They could handle this like adults and- oh my god is that her? God, all he wanted was coffee and to avoid any awkward encounters. He could just leave, it's not like he's actually in the store yet. No, no- wait. Relax. Act cool. Sam could be cool, right? No, no he couldn't.
Wow, his mind really wasn't rooting for him. Fantastic, just another person (thing? himself?) not on his side.
Before he even entered the shop, Sam took a moment to actually and authentically chill out. No overworking mind and no fluttering heart. He could act normal, he was normal. That's why he left for college, why he got out of the hunting life. He wanted more than this, and the only reason he came home was that his dorm was infested with termites and it was just cheaper to come home. Sammy made that decision, so he could definitely battle the repercussions of that like a man.
So dragging a swift hand through his mane of hair in a lame attempt to calm it, Sam pulled open the shop door and marched his way over to the counter. Ordering something stocked full with caffeine and adding a shot of espresso on top of that, he was sure not to glance over his shoulder until the cup was in his hand and he had thanked the barista. With one more, less than confident inhale, he spun around and let his fall onto the only girl he'd ever really fallen for. Gulping down any spastic emotions and thoughts still rattling around in his mind, he slipped through the vacant and crowded tables alike to get to the one Natalia sat alone at. Clutching his cup as if it was his lifeline (and totally, kind of was), Sam gestured to the empty seat across from her and threw on his largest, most giddy grin- only to mask how truly terrified he was, of course- and asked politely, "Mind if I join you?"

(i keep failing to click post so for the fourth time...)
At first Natalia was certain Sam hadn't seen her (or was ignoring her), maybe she'd just dropped off of his radar altogether. So, there she sat, brooding as she flicked at the edge of her paper cup, watching him subtly through lowered lashes, knowing he wouldn't notice. Natalia had mastered the art of being subtle from a young age, she didn't always use it but when she did, she could do it well. There he was though, heading towards her through the maze of tables to find her in the corner.
Sitting up straight, Natalia still had one hand grasped around her cup but the other held her head up in her head, looking at him with almost a feline glance. Calculating him for a moment, Natalia used the hand holding her head to gesture to the empty seat, not saying anything yet, just watching as he sat down. Then, also like a cat, she pounced... not literally, that would require too much effort. "So, I haven't heard from you in, well, months. What's up with that Samuel?" Drawing out her metaphorical claws, Natalia suddenly switched to a more kitten-like approach "I needed you but that's not important anymore, so I won't tell you why." Why Natalia was acting so strange she wasn't too sure but she was enjoying these sudden change in emotions. "How have you been though? Back to your old booty calls?" She teased, leaning back in her seat.

So far, so good- he supposed. At least she was talking to him. Just the teasing lilt to her voice was better than he'd expected. After skipping town to head back to school without getting a chance to offer her a goodbye, Sam was wary on how she'd welcome him back, but this? This was great. This he could manage.
With a cheeky grin, Sam calmed his jitters and took the proffered seat, glad she was accepting him back so easily. It was instinct to be so cautious, to keep a keen eye out for red flags leaning in favor of a dispute- for he'd learned quickly from his father that if he wanted to survive in his childhood home he'd have to watch for the signs and hide out until his dad's temper had tapered off. He grew up on guard, so as he sat before the girl who'd haunted his dreams for years upon years, he measured her tone with precision.
He was swimming in safe waters for now.
Sipping casually from his cup, he played it cool, not giving her any insight on how he was reacting on his interior. A small quirk of his lips as she grew concerned of his disappearance, he let hope flicker before it was quickly stomped out by her next statement. She needed him? For what? What had happened? So many questions and yet, he knew she would answer any of them- she said so herself. Running a hesitant hand through his unruly locks, he let his gaze drop to the table where his fingers tapped uneasily against the surface.
The water was tainted with blood, now he was swimming with the sharks.
Gulping as he tried to regain his calm demeanor and dampen the worry shining deep in his hazel irises, he quickly tried to revive the conversation, not wanting things to grow awkward or further unsettling. "Uh, so-sorry about disappearing on you. I just- school," he coughed through his stuttered speech, trying to find his words but they'd all run off. He wanted to ask, so bad, about what he was needed for, but he knew it was a dead end. So with his best puppy dog look, he finally glanced back up at Natalia, nibbling on his bottom lip as he continued, "Well, um, school. I've been at school, but uh- I'm back for summer break." Get a grip, kid. You're better than this. You grew out of this stuttering dweeb. Man up. Inhaling sharply, he shook his head and forced on a smirk- giving into the voice in his head and putting his heart to the side for a moment.
Setting his elbow atop the table, he rested his chin on his open palm and met her gaze levelly. Whilst his other hand fingered the heated cup of coffee, he spoke with a hint of pride- doing his best to appear relaxed, "No, no booty calls. I mean, Gen came back to town with me, but I wouldn't call her that." Something twinkled in his eye as he mentioned his friend, an undetermined emotion flitting quickly across his face. Glancing quickly down at his cup, he palmed it and set it to his lips, not wanting to meet her eyes as she cast his gaze out the window. Genevieve was a girl he'd know for the past year or so, majoring in health where he concurred law, but they shared math and history classes. She'd returned home with him on a deal- she'd help him take care of his ailing mother and he'd give her a place to stay. If there were any emotions involved, well, he didn't dwell on them.
He knew who his heart really belonged to. No other girl stood a chance.

Her mood, she could tell was surprising him. First of all he'd been pleased and a warm feeling and settled in the lower pits of her stomach, feeling pleased herself. Watching him closely, Natalia easily picked up on the quirk of his lips, he wanted to know why and maybe she'd tell him eventually. His whole body language shifted, gone was the grin and now there was nervousness about him. It took Natalia a moment to realise that she wasn't just watching him closely she was reading his signals.
Eyes tracking the drumming of his fingers, Natalia took a sip of her drink, sad that she was nearly at the end of the beverage. As Sam started to speak, well, stutter, Natalia looked back up at him, leaning back in her chair, cup pressed close to her collar bone. "Ah, school. Remind me, what are you learning? Or is it studying?" Natalia wouldn't know, she'd never even looked into attending college, maybe if she'd gone the past couple of years wouldn't have panned out in the way they did. She probably wouldn't be a werewolf for a start. She was used to that part of her now, it had a lot of perks. Noting the smirk, Natalia was drawn towards it but she knew she needed to sort out her emotions so instead chose to focus elsewhere, on the warmth emitted from her cup against her skin.
What Sam said nothing stunned Natalia without a doubt. Straightening up, Natalia leaned forward, mimicking the position Sam was in and placing her cup down on the table. A girl. Sam had come home with a girl and all this time Natalia had been certain that there was something there for her if she'd wanted it. Maybe she needed to work on how well she understood the signals people sent out. "Oh." Natalia said after a moment, the word popping out quickly. "Why?" Natalia couldn't help herself, she had to know.
Maybe it was only once something was taken that you wanted it. At least that's how she felt.

This was all so confusing, why couldn't anything ever just be simple? Why couldn't they just, you know, not play this game of back and forth and get to the point? But then that wouldn't been them, would it? Sam plays the stuttering heartthrob and Natalia is the stubborn goddess. So they acted it out, played their roles and moved through the actions of it all. One little tweak though- Sam got a hold on his vocal cords and blatantly refused to fall into a verbal mess again. No more stuttering. Though, he did gulp, clearly unsettled by Natalia's intimidating demeanor. Oh why did he always have to fall for the hard to get and the scarily dominate ones? Geez. Anxiously fingering the mole just left of his nose, he purposefully kept his gaze out the window as he returned her question with a simple answer, not caring to bore her with school talk. She clearly didn't go for a reason. "I study law," his voice was soft, but certain- determined to not seem so submissive and shy, because with anyone else? Any other person besides Natalia, he wasn't. He was assertive and so sure of himself, but she just made him weak in the knees and numbed his tongue. He chalked it up to his boyish crush and continued on, "Don't care much for hunting anymore, but guess I can't help taking out some form of monster." Shrugging as if it wasn't a big deal, he allowed himself to hint at another grin- but once again, it fell off quickly. She sounded... upset that he had brought a girl home? Why? It's not like she was- oh, no way! Natalia was so not jealous that he' d brought someone home, was she? Nah, man. Don't get your hopes up. He allowed himself to steal a quick, confused glance her way, reading her expression swiftly- not lingering on her clearly agitated face. Spitting out a lazy, "Um," as he turned his stare back out the window, his arms fell to his sides and he fiddled with the hemming of his flannel under the table. Lips held in a firm line as he tore and yanked at a few spare threads, Sam battled his wits to come up with some reasoning other than 'she's cute, kinda looks like you, and wants to help my mom- oh, we may have kissed once, but don't worry about that'. Yeah, that just wouldn't do. Swallowing down all his terror and boyish feelings, he let his gaze fall even with hers as he explained in a surprisingly steady tone, "Gen, uh, well she majors in the medical field, and my mom's sick- so she offered to give me pointers on how to care for her if I gave her a place to stay for a bit. She's, uh," come on, Sam, you don't have to tell her this- she doesn't own you, "She's staying in the spare house with me for a bit." Wow, way to tattle on himself. Why couldn't he play it smart around her? How could one look from Natalia make him skittish and babble? Biting his lip, as if waiting for a punishment, he continued to pull at his shirt, anxious for her reaction. He should have lied, God, he was an idiot- when did telling the truth ever work? But with her, did he really have any other choice?

What was he looking at so closely? Head turning to the window, Natalia half expected the so called Gen to be there distracting him from her. This jealous side of Natalia was one she'd never been aware of before. She wasn't used to it, had no idea as to how to deal with it. Giving up on actually seeing anything worthwhile outside, Natalia looked back at Sam with slight wonder in her green eyes. "You must be very smart then." That was all Natalia knew about studying law as she'd never looked into it, imaging that she'd find it terribly dull to study. "Do you think all the werewolves are monsters?" Natalia asked quietly, almost worried as to what he would say. She had to tell him but she just didn't know when. Definitely not now. The more Natalia heard about this Gen figure the bigger the knot in her stomach became, twisting and writing inside of her like a worm. A bitter feeling. Natalia was normally bitter, it was her go to emotion, this was new though; this longing for something with wasn't hers. Which she wished was hers. The spare house... so were they sleeping together? Natalia hadn't realised or even considered how serious this relationship might be. "Well, I'm sure she's lovely." Natalia said in the sickliest most sweet voice she could muster. In fact Natalia was never sure she'd reached that pitch before. To top off how genuinely she really felt about Gen, Natalia smiled with her lips close, although it being so fake it didn't quite reach her eyes. She was a hunter not an actress. "I'd love to meet her sometime. Maybe I could call this guy I met in Mexico and we could all go to dinner."

Natalia just seemed to be filled to the brim with curiosity today. Hit with question after question kept Sam on his toes, and he had to play this smart if he didn't want to lose her after just sparking a friendship. So far, it had seemed there was a rift spreading between them, and he couldn't have that if he wanted this to progress into something else, and boy, did he want that. So rather than commenting on how 'smart he must be', he skipped to her inquiry of his opinion on monsters. Squinting slightly as the cooling cup sitting untouched on the table, he debated how he wanted to reply- but he knew, without out a doubt, that he didn't think that. His little sister had been attacked as a kid, forced into the supernatural end of the spectrum, and she wasn't a monster. Noelle hadn't ever hurt anyone, no one but he even knew about it. So really? It wasn't a hard question to answer at all. Meeting her eyes once again, he let a soft smile paint his lips as he shook his head, his voice low as he replied, "No- of course not. It's not like they have a choice on what they become. I mean, yeah, some are bad and need to be put down, but the ones who are just as scared of themselves as the rest of us are? The ones who haven't caused any harm? No, they aren't monsters," his eyes cast down some as he mumbled, "Being a werewolf, or anything really, doesn't make you a monster- it's what you do with that power that decides that." Pursing his lips, he shook his head again, preferring to not talk about the subject at all. It's why he left- to get away from all the supernatural talk and to quit hunting. He just couldn't do that anymore, just slay whatever was abnormal. It wasn't right, but that's why he was doing all he could to follow the legal route into his own form of 'monster hunting'. Quirking a brow her way as she began to address Gen, he couldn't quite understand the sudden mood swing. Sam wasn't stupid. He'd gotten into Stanford on a scholarship, he'd graduated high school at the top of his class, and he'd spent the majority of his life reading people and following the trails they left behind- so he was smart enough to know that she was faking. The smile, the words, the eagerness- it was all just a rouse that he knew was a hoax, but he'd let her believe he fell for. He nodded along with her words, and even pretended to be naive enough to smile, but once again, it was gone in an instant. God, couldn't a man just smile for ten seconds without having it smacked of his face? He blames it on his dumb luck. A spout of jealous rage he wasn't quite prepared for curled in the pit of his stomach, making his chest rise and fall heavily as he tried to control his thumping heart- twisting his face as he cocked his head sideways and sputtered out, "G-Guy from Mexico? Why, why was there a guy in Mexico?" His lips twitched as he glared at her, jaw working in small circles as Genevieve was quickly forgotten and his mind suddenly filled with endless questions as to who and why. Of course it wasn't like they were together, despite how badly he wanted that, but still- he was pissed that she did that. Though she didn't have any reason not to.

Chewing at the edge of her nail, Nat listened to Same speak closely, paying close attention to every word he said. It seemed safe to tell him but something held her back from telling him at that very moment. Fear stopped her. She hadn't used her power correctly she'd probably used it in the worst way and Natalia knew that. What was worse was that she'd enjoyed it, enjoyed abusing the power she knew she had. She had been scared though. Terrified of what her family would do if they found out; that had been the main cause of her killing of other werewolves to hide the fact that she was what they were killing. If she told him now, if she just mentioned it casually, would he scold her for using her power badly. Probably. Pushing the secret to the side, Natalia pushed her nail across her lip.
When Sam started nodding along and believing her whole wanting to see Gen act, Natalia believed it for all of two seconds but like Sam, she could see the lie. They both needed to stop playing this game of toying with the others' feelings if they wanted their relationship to progress, it was just a matter of who would yield first. Something about Sam changed dramatically, an emotion to match her own. Ha! At least now Natalia wasn't the only one sitting her jealous. Hmm, how to answer that.
Pushing a hand through her hair, Natalia considered how to answer the question in a simple way or maybe she should make it complicated. Decisions, decisions. "I went to Mexico to-" Natalia caught herself, a smile catching the end of her sentence at the hilarity of how she'd come so close just then of telling Sam everything right then and there. "Explore the culture." Natalia settled on after a moment, a complete lie but some people did go to to Mexico to do that, why couldn't she? "And I did do some exploring... of specific things like whether the locals were good kissers or not." Natalia hoped that last part stung, hoped it would make him angry. Why? Well, it was all part of their game, their tango that they seemed to constantly fall into, trying to get one up on the other or maybe that was just Nat. "Then Rose and Alex came and took me back here to hell but also to you, which is nice." There it was a bit of softness toppling out of her for him, to make him stay.

Stubborn- it was a Styles family trait, right up there with an uncontrollable temper, uncanny pride, and a fearlessness beyond bounds. The whole lot of them were fighters, in it 'til the end- so when Natalia issued a challenge? When she kept dragging out the Mexico deal? Yeah, of course Sam kept going, kept egging her on. It was in his genes, in his blood to stand his ground and put up a good front. In a lot of ways, he was the black sheep of the family. Refused the lifestyle, had a bigger heart, different personality. He wouldn't be his father's lap dog and fought his way out of that mess. He made something of himself and changed his fate. So no, he wasn't the typical Styles, but when it came to this? When he got flustered and upset? There was no way to tell the difference between him and the rest of them.
A frown imprinted thickly on his lip, Sam crossed his arms over his chest, making himself look even larger as the muscles laying just under his flannel rippled. He heaved out a low grunt as she spun her tale, frustrated at the mess of it and unspeakably jealous. It wasn't like him. He could usually keep himself tame, refrain from interactions such as this- especially when dealing someone he had a crush on. You don't fight with the people you want to sleep with. It's like a rule, and one Sam just broke, and continued to break as his jaw tightened and his fingers flexed where they sat on the opposing arms.
It hurt, and it stung. All of it, the reality of it. He got it, he did. He'd left when she'd needed him, not that he'd known, but all the same. So she did what she had to, and that consisted of running off to Mexico and hooking up with some guy- all while he flirted mindlessly with Genevieve, trying to overcome his feelings for a girl he could never have by throwing himself at another. He didn't know where he and Gen stood, didn't even know where he and Nat, or he and his family stood. Sam didn't know a lot, despite his diploma and college residence- but he did know he wasn't backing down from this war between them anytime soon.
Though he knew he really should.
The moment she stopped talking, he snapped back, voice with a grudging curl he didn't know he was even capable of, "Mm, I understand. Did some exploring of that type my own, and god- would you have guessed that the locals up at Stanford are fantastic kissers?" It was so snarky, eyes squinted as anger gleamed within the hazel depths. He was just flat out pissed. Upset that she was unknowingly shattering his heart with every word she said- simply throwing it in his face that he would never be good enough, but a dude on down south was just enough. He nearly went further, to explain the extent of his 'research'. She wasn't too far off when she preached about his booty calls- he wasn't the type to just go around and toss himself at whatever willing body was lying around, didn't have a flock of girls just waiting for him to use them, but he did acquire a few girlfriends while he was at school. Jessica, Katie, Sandy, Ruby, and now Gen- but it was never just for convenience, and they never lasted, because who wants to date someone who'd already sold their heart to another?
So that's why had the decency to be guilty after he'd quipped at her, head falling with shame and arms following. His fingers tore at the threads again, his own voice matching the gentleness of her own as he spoke quietly, his anger faded, "Yeah, I'm glad I got dragged back here too." The 'back to you' was left unspoken, but it felt wrong saying it after his little fit.
Neither of them meant what they'd said, but it was a game they couldn't quit. Not yet.

See Natalia hadn't been expecting a response like that. In her own eyes, Sam was still a geeky high school student who would not be able to do any 'exploring', clearly that had changed. It surprised her though, her posture slackened for a moment before she regained her composure. Crossing her right leg over her left, Natalia rested her hands there, trying to look as if none of this bothered her. If they didn't stop this now - this desire to hurt each other - then there would be no return, no chance of being well, anything to each other.
Teeth worrying her lower lip, Natalia applauded herself for keeping relatively calm, it would just be her luck if she got too heated and went all werewolf on the situation. She'd try to avoid that as best as she could.
Sam changed though, his head fell, blocking his face and maybe that was for the better, it would probably allow Natalia to think a bit more sensibly. "Good..." Natalia responded, fingers sliding together on her laps to resist the urge to lift his chin. No need to give too much away, right? "As long as you're happy with Gen then that's fine." Natalia said after a brief pause, collecting her thoughts so she didn't look like such a bad guy. Fine was a long way from what she wanted though. What Natalia wanted was him although she was struggling to admit that to herself let alone anyone else.

It was an endless loop, up and down- over and over again. A roller coaster of emotions. He'd gone from the top of the hill, spiked with anger, to wallowing in the valley, drowning with a sudden sense of guilt- and like that, he knew he'd be the first to cave. Of course he'd be. Sam didn't want to ruin the only chance he had at this, at what he'd wanted since he knew what love was, but Natalia? She didn't have anything to lose if she turned him away after this stunt. Right? It wasn't like she cared for him that way, she never had before. So it was on him to turn this around if he wanted to hide in her shadow for just a little bit longer.
Head still hung with shame, Sam hid behind his curtain of hair and fiddled with his sleeves- his coffee forgotten and bottom lip bitten tender with a mix of worry and angst. Maybe Teddy was right, he was a teenage girl. He sure acted like it.
Chancing a glance up at the woman, he eased a bit when he caught her relaxed state- didn't let himself linger on her for too long to see if it was genuine or not, but it calmed him either way knowing she wasn't on the verge of just ditching him. Great. At least now he had a sliver of hope that he could get this train back on track.
Rather than commenting on her comment about Genevieve, Sam just gave her a shrug and moved on. The more they talked about the girl who could easily become his girlfriend in the days to come, the more both of them would work to tear each other apart and that wasn't exactly his agenda. Straightening out in his seat, he let a hand push through his chestnut waves and his hazel eyes meet hers. He didn't know what he wanted to say- knew he wanted to get out of here, somewhere less tense and more welcoming, where they both could feel free and move on from the hectic mess of a reunion they'd made, but where? He didn't have a clue. His house was out of the question, with Gen hanging around there and all. He assumed her own home was off limits, but wasn't sure- wouldn't offer anyhow. There was his car, the shops lining the town's roads, and the woods and the serenity it offered.
He knew a few neat places in the forest behind his house. Caves, lakes, small hideaways that bundled trees created- all places he'd hide when he was younger, places he felt safe. But it was also inherently creepy to offer to take a girl out into the backwoods after having a dispute, so- nah.
Fingers rubbing tentatively at his bottom lip, muffling his words some, Sam did his best to keep his gaze level with hers as he asked, "Why don't we get out of here?" He left it vague, giving her the option of the place- if she even agreed to join him, that is.

With the push of his hand through his hair, Natalia's heart gave a jump, eyes brightening slightly when they met his. Temptation everything was so damn tempting with him. If Natalia was being completely open with him she'd tell him how she truly felt, how the idea of Gen made her skin crawl, an animal like desire to go and eliminate this other girl growing inside of her. That feeling she could probably put down to well, being a werewolf.
That was also something she had to tell him but oh how she was worried what he'd think. Would he be upset that she'd lied? Probably.
His question was one which Natalia contemplated for only a few seconds before with a single jerk of her head she agreed. "Good idea, Samsquatch." Natalia said a small smile curving at the edge of her lips. Pushing herself back in the chair, Natalia looped her back over her shoulder, heading towards the door, out of the tightly packed cafe with its constant smell of coffee.
"Did you have somewhere you wanted to go or..?" Natalia asked as she stood beside Sam outside, sunlight warming the top of her head as she tilted it up to look at Sam.

Oh god, wow. That was super easy. Sam, close your mouth. It's not that big of a shock, Jesus. Teen girl, that's all he is. Plain and simple. Someone buy him a skirt. Really though, it was that easy? They had just verbally hatched it out, anger brimming just behind their lips and spite lighting the flame in their eyes- and then just a nod? Her joking with him? Talk about whiplash. Jeez, he had to pick the most difficult, dangerous fish in the sea, didn't he? Alright, the shock gradually erased from his features and his head began to clear. Humor laced with disbelief curled his lips into a lazy grin, smile growing faint for a moment as his mouth curved around a silent gasp before the grin returned shyly. With his hazel eyes twinkling vibrantly, he shook his head, a laugh catching in his throat as he let his gaze roam across her face. "God, I should have never told you about that," he groaned dramatically, hand pressing to his forehead as if it actually annoyed him. It didn't bother him, but he had to act like he did. It was part of the game they played, just like him responding with, "Yeah, let's go Gnat," was too. Still silently stunned, Sam just watched her rise, gaze following her as began to make her way through the crowd. It only hit him when she reached the door that he was kind of supposed to be following and not gawking as his eyes followed the sway of her hips. Perv. Shaking his head at himself, he frantically found his footing, shoving himself into a standing position as his hands danced to grip his abandoned coffee cup. Ditching it in the trash as he scrambled to her side, Sam threw his hands through his hair and calmed his breathing. Three, two, one, and he was out the door and squinting at the sun. His ears perked at her voice, only to have a faint blush paint his cheeks as her question registered. Head dipping to hide his face behind a wall of shoulder length chestnut locks, he mumbled, "Uh, no- not really. I mean," no, abort mission- no woods, Sam, "No. Wherever you have in mind?" Back to the fumbling and stuttering it is.

Sam's eyes on her face send electric waves through her veins, her nerves sparking on anything that they touched. "It's a cute name... sort of." Natalia replied with a vague air as her eyes flicked over him like a cat watching a mouse. When he referred to her as Gnat, well, she laughed for the first time in a while, unable to stop it. It was short lived but warm, the sign of something unavoidable. Glancing down before she stood there was a faint trace of a smile still on her face, making her face glow somewhat.
Once they were outside, Natalia couldn't help but feel her heart sink slightly. Stuttering Sam had made a reprise and she'd be lying if she said she hadn't enjoyed cocky, vaguely pissed off Sam who spoke his mind. Maybe she'd be able to find a way to bring that character back later, hmm. Brushing her teeth over her bottom lip, Natalia contemplated where they could go. There wasn't much in town, Natalia had never really seen the pull of bowling with it's borrowed shoes and balls everyone else had used.
"Want to go for a walk?" Natalia suggested, she was watching him closely, checking him for a reaction or lack of for that matter. "I can walk for hours."
