Ellie had gotten to Kai from Blake. She had told Kai who she was, and that shed like to help. Honestly, she didn't know why Kai agreed to come. She wouldn't have ahreed if she was getting a text like she gave Kai. She probably sounded crazy. She knew that Erik was alpha, but honestly she didn't take Erik seriously. Erik was an immature child who seemed to always throw bratty tantrums, and she had only meant the guy three times.
She knew that even if she wanted to help his back, she'd never refer to him as the alpha. From what she heard about Kai he should really be the alpha.
She was now just sat at a table in the coffee shop. A warm caramel latte in arms reach, and a folder of research in front of her. She was texting though, to make it look like she wasn't a completely loner. That was her way of not being awkward.

When Kai had first received the text from Ellie, he was skeptical. He had called Erik to ask about her, but he tried not to give too much away because he was afraid Erik would freak out if he knew that the two of them were meeting up behind his back. Then again, it wasn't really behind his back. Ellie just wanted to talk to Kai. It was none of Erik's business, right? That's what Kai kept telling himself.
As he walked into the coffee shop, he thanked his lucky stars that neither Tyler or Ari was standing behind the counter. He wasn't in a coffee mood, so he just scanned the room and figured that Ellie must have been the only teenage girl in the place sitting by herself. "Ellie?" he asked, just to make sure it was her. He felt like he had been set up on some kind of blind date, except without the date part.

Ellie looked up when her name was called. "You must be Kai," Ellie said. Once she sat down she began speaking. "Look I know I sound like a total creep, but I most lost my brother, and honestly I will do anything I can to keep him safe. I don't care if you think I'm a lousy human, but I will go to anyone who will listen to me. You just seemed like the most adult person here," Ellie said. She was really hoping that Kai would actually listen to her.
"I'm obsessed with supernatural, and I don't mean the show. I mean everything about it. So, I can be vital to you. Plus, I know a lot about kanimas," Ellie said quietly. She was really hoping that would attract Kai's attention. She wasn't sure if Kai really knew much about the kanima, but Ellie heard a lot about weird attacks. They also sounded very kanima related.
"Look I got it you may know all this, but I still think I can help. I'm really sorry but going to your boyfriend wasn't going to happen. I've met him, and I'm really sorry but honestly to me he's a huge fucking asshole, and I don't intended on running anything by him."

Kai took a seat across from the girl and listened to her whole spiel. "Oh don't worry, you're definitely not the only person that thinks of him that way. I did for a while. Still do, depending on the day." Kai never cared when people insulted Erik. Part of him felt like he should defend him, but they were all right. Erik wasn't really a nice person. "Well, here's the thing. I already know a lot about kanimas. We all do. But it doesn't matter how much you know about a kanima if you don't know who the damn thing is or who is controlling it." Kai appreciated the girl's enthusiasm, but he never liked bringing civilians into this kind of business. They only ever ended up getting in the way or getting themselves killed, and that was a weight Kai didn't need to be carrying. Maybe Erik had already told the girl this, and that's why she came to Kai, he didn't know. But if that was the case, he wasn't going to be able to do anything for her.

Ellie just laughed a little. "I've lived in this town most my life. I can narrow it down to a further list than you or Erik could." Ellie said. "You know I'm not asking to fight right ? Because I'm aware I'd be a burden, but research is my forte, especially supernatural resource. Don't believe me? Ask my brother. How do you think I originally figured out he was a werewolf?" Ellie hadn't been positive, but once Blake's cancer completely vanished she had her theories, then Erik hinted it toward her. She didn't actually find out until a few months ago. "Same with Liam. It's a wonder how this town has two terminal cancer patients living, and healthy," Ellie said. She figured out the Liam one before he turned. She always had her theories, and her research was right.
"So it's not like my research is wrong," Ellie said. She was very cocky, and a know-it-all when it came to supernatural. She wouldn't even let a werewolf say they knew more about supernatural than her.

Kai shook his head. "But it could be," he said. "A human has no business dealing with the supernatural. It could only end badly. I appreciate your effort, I really do, but it's not safe. No one should have told you that werewolves exist in the first place, and I'm sorry, but your little obsession is a lot more dangerous than you might think." Kai had come across civilians like Ellie before, and he'd learned how to deal with them from his father. It didn't matter how much they thought they knew or how helpful they thought they to be, it was none of their business. That was the rule. Kai had never failed from following his father's rules before, in fact, he'd only ever failed when he strayed from them, so he wouldn't dare risk this girl's life to feed her little hobby.

Ellie just stared at him for a moment o two. "Whatever I guess I'm just wasting my time," Ellie said. She stood up and began to walk away. "If you ever change your mind then just text not that you ever will, after all, I'm just a lousy human," Ellie said. She walked away and made her way out of the cafe.

Kai didn't understand why the girl got so defensive. He never looked down upon humans, after all he basically was one. The only thing that made him different was the fact that he was a werewolf. But he couldn't risk Ellie's life when all she could really offer him was information that he already knew. If it ever got out that she was digging around about the kanima, it could get back to the kanima's master, and that could end with her in a body bag. Kai knew that the same could happen to him, but he didn't really have a choice on whether or not to be involved. Technically he didn't have to get involved, but Kai wasn't the kind of person that could sit around and let people die when there was something that he could do about it. But Ellie was trying to throw herself into something that she had no business dealing with because she had an obsession with something that she shouldn't even know about. Kai didn't know why Erik wouldhave led her to believe that she could help them at all, but he would definitely have to talk with him about it later. Erik had a habit of bringing innocent people into dangerous situations and not realizing what he was doing, but Kai wasn't going to let him get some naive girl killed because he thought it would be fun.
