It had been two years since Adrian Santos had set foot in Beacon Hills, and the only thing that he could think about doing upon his return was reuniting with Adam. The two of them had spent a lot of their childhoods together, training to be the best hunters that they could be. But Adrian knew from a young age that he wanted to grow up to be more than just a hunter. Of course he believed in what the hunters did, but Adrian was the kind of person that wanted to be remembered for doing something great. He couldn’t just hunt werewolves and keep it a secret for his entire life. He had a hunger for fame and attention that went far beyond his moral standards. Adam seemed to him to be the complete opposite, preferring to stay in the shadows and hunt werewolves in silence. It was no secret to either of them that Adrian was into men, but the fact that Adam was also some level of homosexual was a much more recent discovery.
The two of them had a few drinks as a sort of going away party the night before he left for college, and they’d had a moment or two that night. Though the next morning Adam claimed to have no recollection of what had really happened. Adrian doubted that he was actually so intoxicated that he had no memory of the night, but eventually he had given up on trying to get Adam to tell the truth. If Adam was so in denial about being gay or bisexual or whatever it was that he was, Adrian wasn’t going to be the guy that forced him out of the closet. Not the night before he moved halfway across the country anyways.
Adrian’s return to Beacon Hills was not part of his grand plan to rise to fame, but college wasn’t the scene for him. He’d never been a big fan of school, and college required far too much self-motivation that Adrian definitely did not have. After a semester, he dropped out of college, but he was living in Florida, and he wasn’t going to leave that just because he didn’t enjoy college as much as he thought he would. He spent the next year and a half with a strict schedule of partying, drinking, hang-overs, and repeating. It was the best year and a half of his life, but he decided that it was time for him to make a real life for himself, which involved moving back to California and getting a real job. His parents had enough money to support him until he could support himself, but they were pressuring him to get his shit together, so he figured it was time to turn things around.
But becoming a real adult could wait. Right now, he wanted Adam. He had no idea what the man had been up to in the past two years, the two of them hadn’t made much of an effort to stay in touch, but Adrian was seriously hoping that he had managed to come out and they could run off into the sunset and live happily ever after. However, knowing Adam that was never going to actually happen. But he had grown into a slightly better person in the past two years, and he was willing to wait for Adam. He loved the man, though he’d be damned if he ever admitted to it. After all, how could you claim to be in love with someone that you haven’t seen in two years?
Walking down the familiar street, Adrian couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face. His hands were shoved into the pockets of his ridiculously tight pants as he stepped up to the door of the Raider household. It occurred to him that he had no idea if Adam was still living there, but if he wasn’t he could at least ask his parents where he was staying now. After taking a deep breath, he sighed out as he knocked on the door, anxiously waiting for someone to answer the door.

take me to church, I'll worship like a dog* * * * * Adam had been wasting his days lately, doing his best to procrastinate actually getting a job and doing things with his life. The reality was that the guy was a master at doing not a lot and getting paid a surprising amount to do so, usually by beheading some poor soul he didn't even know, and reaping the payment for doing so. No, he wouldn't consider himself a hitman - he was too lazy to actually give the small dealings he did an actual name, merely thinking of himself of 'doing the world a favor'. After all, if someone wanted you dead enough to pay someone to actually do it, you must've done something pretty fucked up, or were just genuinely a twathat in the first place. He didn't particularly care, either way, because it's not like it really was any of his business as long as he got paid. Today was no different to any other day in the life of Adam Raider, professional slacker when it came to doing anything professional at all. He'd gone to bed too late and too drunk, only to wake up hours later, surprisingly unhungover but still determined not to really start the day. He was a night owl, always had been and always would be, and it showed. He was just about dressed, if by dressed you meant throwing on a pair of shorts and a hoodie and hoping that no one dared to visit. It wasn't like many people knew he was there - his parents hadn't exactly decided to move back in with him, and so the empty house was his, and he didn't even have a pay a dime for it. It was only just past noon when there was a knock at the door, and Adam forced himself to answer it, not quite sure who to expect. His parents, maybe? Definitely not Abby, and definitely not - "Adrian?" There was a hint of shock in Adam's voice as he realised who it was that'd come to call, automatically leaning his weight against the door as his mind raced. Last time he'd seen Adrian - well, it was a time he didn't really want to talk about, and had been in complete denial about since it had even happened. The guy was meant to walk out of his life and never come back, and Adam was meant to be living his life as a (relatively) normal, straight man. This couldn't be happening. Not now. Still, he somehow managed to pull it back together, signature lazy grin slapped across his face as he replied, "well, I did say college wasn't your style - this is such an 'I told you so' moment." * * *

At the sight of Adam, Adrian’s heart took a slight leap. It caught him off-guard slightly, causing him to chuckle awkwardly. “Hey, it was worth a shot,” he said with a shrug, regaining his composure. “I sure as hell have missed you, though.” His tone was more flirty than one might normally use in a casual conversation, but this conversation was anything but casual. From Adrian’s perspective, they were both very aware of the underlying awkwardness that was really happening, but he was sure that Adam wasn’t going to mention it. After all he was “straight”, and Adrian was very much so a homosexual. But Adam had just had a drunken night that he “didn’t remember” that had caused Adrian to spend the next two years getting all dreamy-eyed about him. No awkwardness there. Not at all.
“Well, aren’t you going to invite me in?” he said with a chuckle, but he wouldn’t have been surprised if Adam made up some excuse to get out of having to face him. Adam was so far in denial that it wouldn’t have surprised Adrian if the man actually believed he wasn’t into guys. Then again, maybe it wasn’t Adrian’s place to judge. He just refused to consider the idea that their night together had been as meaningless as Adam portrayed it to be.

take me to church, I'll worship like a dog* * * * * "Wish I could say the same to you," Adam replied, a clear joking tone to his voice. Adam had missed Adrian more than his head (and his dick) had cared to admit, mind running overall the stupid conversations they used to have each other, only feeling a certain hollowness in their sudden absence. It was almost as if he'd mourned his best friend leaving, only the pain in his chest was the type that couldn't just be written off as a casualty of friendship. Adrian had hit him hard and fast, like a drug you had to keep taking if you wanted to avoid the shock of the fall back down again, and yet had disappeared so fast that Adam just hit the ground immediately. He hated himself for it. For starters, his own feelings towards the man made him uncomfortable, and right now he was doing all he could to repress all the things he could remember doing to Adrian that night, because it was the one mistake he didn't plan on doing again. He couldn't afford to, not when their friendship was on the line. He'd do anything to write that night out of his life, he really would, and yet it seemed like that was doomed to just not happen - clearly something was working against him. "But I guess you can come in, Santos." With that, Adam turned and headed back inside, leaving the door wide open for his former friend. This was going to be awkward, he could already feel it, and yet he enjoyed Adrian's company too much to leave him out on the doorstep. * * *

“Oh come on, you know you’ve been counting the days until my return,” he said with a wink. As Adam invited him in, he followed him into the familiar home. “So, how are things? Still living with your folks, I see.” Adrian wasn’t judging him at all, though. At the moment, he had been living with his parents as well, but only until he could get his own place. Adam’s family was always closer than his own anyhow, so he figured that Adam might have just wanted to stay so that he wouldn’t be out of the loop on all of his family’s affairs. Either way, Adrian did not have any room to judge him for still living with his parents, considering he probably would have been in the same situation had he never gone to college.
“And I hear Abby’s living with the Dalton’s now?” Adrian hadn’t kept in contact with anyone while he was away, but he had contacted Abby upon his arrival just to make sure the girl was doing alright. The two had been fairly close before he had left, forming a sort of sibling-like bond in their childhoods. Adrian wasn’t at all surprised when Abby gave up hunting, as he had suspected that she would from a young age. What had really surprised him was how she had completely cut herself off from her family. She had always been such a dependent kind of person, but he hoped that she was still alright despite whatever differences she had with her family.
