Kai's eyes practically bulged out of his head. "Erik, don't be rude," Kai scolded. He just wanted this to be a nice dinner and of course Erik had to mess it up. --- Preston only assumed that Erik didn't think he would understand what he was saying when he said it. Unfortunately, Preston had taken French for six years at that point, and he knew exactly what he was saying. But he definitely wasn't going to say that, so he just played dumb.

"ce ne est pas désagréable , il est juste de parler de nos plans," Erik said. He was annoyed at Kai now. Erik was just trying to have fun. "si vous me acheter une boisson , je vais me taire," Erik said trying to compromise. He looked over at Kai. He couldn't order his own drink because he was under 21. He could pretend like he wasn't drinking it though.
----
Ari was going to kill Erik. She was going to. She was so ad at him. She looked over at Kai and whispered. "il sait français." She looked pissed.

Preston blushed a little, looking down at the table and trying not to draw attention to himself. "...oui," he said awkwardly, glancing to Ari and then away again. This was just going swimmingly. --- Kai sighed, feeling more embarrassed than he ever had before. "Fine, fine," he said, and then he pulled the waitress aside to order a drink for Erik. Kai wasn't legal for a few more months, but he still had a fake ID from his high school days, so he just used that. Of course, giving Erik alcohol right no probably wasn't the best idea, but it was all he had.

Erik grinned at Kai amd then sat back. He stayed quiet because he did make a promise. He'd stay quiet until he finished his drink. Then he'd go again.
☆☆☆☆
Ari didn't know what to say anymore she looked over at Preston. "I'm so sorry," Ari whispered. She felt so bad because she felt bad.

Preston smiled, shrugging a little. "It's fine," he whispered back. Preston was no stranger to Erik and Kai trying to sabotage Ari's love life. They'd done it plenty of times before. --- Kai sighed when Erik seemed to actually be keeping his promise, for now anyways. "So Ari, how are things?" he asked. The two of them hadn't actually talked in a few days about anything other than the date, so it seemed like an easy way to start some kind of normal conversation.

"I've been good. I uh registered for college again." Ari said. She looked skeptically at Kai. Silently asking him if they would be staying. She wasn't sure what they were planning buy she wanted to stay here.
☆☆☆☆☆☆
Erik shot a look at Kai. He wasn't planning on staying. He didn't want to stay. He wanted to go explore the world. He was clearly about to go off. He was holding his tongue simply because he wanted sex.

Kai sighed. He knew Ari wanted them to stay, or at least he thought she did, but Erik obviously wanted to leave. He figured that they might as well eat first. When the waitress came back, they all ordered their food and then they were left in an awkward silence. --- Preston honestly had no idea how he was supposed to act in this situation, so he thought it better to just stay quiet until someone actually spoke to him. Part of him wanted Erik and Kai to leave, but he wouldn't dare say that. He just wanted to have a good time with Ari, and they weren't making that very easy.

Preston was glad that someone finally acknowledged him, even if it was Erik. "I work at a law firm, well sort of. I'm not actually a lawyer yet, but I will be one day. Other than that, I'm just a dad, I guess." Preston still hadn't told anyone that he had been accepted to Harvard because he knew he wouldn't be able to go. Not with Hope. So it was better not to let anyone else try to talk him into it.

Erik nodded not actually wanting to start conversation. "A lawyer. Nice catch ari," Erik said clearly not meaning it. He chugged the rest of his drink. He needed more but right now he wouldn't say anything.
--''
Ari rolled her eyes at Erik. She was praying that someone else would start a conversation. She read for Preston ' s hand and laced her fingers around his. She could feel her heart skip a beat. It was awkward sitting with werewolves bevause they could hear her heart speed up.

Kai smiled. "So things are going well with Hope, then?" Kai asked. He only knew as much as Ari had told him about Preston's situation, but he didn't judge him for it either. Everyone made their mistakes, and Preston seemed to be doing a really good job at continuing his life even with the mistakes he had made. Kai wasn't overly fond of the guy, but he couldn't really hate him either. --- Preston nodded. "Yeah, she's fantastic," he said. "And her grandfathers have been helping out a lot. That's where she is now, actually." It was easy to see how much Preston loved his daughter just by the way he talked about her.

"You let your daughter who's a werewolf alone with hunters," Erik saod like Preston was the dumbest we son ever. He just kind of stared at Preston. He wasn't sure what kind of person was that stupid. Eigh t now werewolves and Hunter's were at war. You didn't just hand your kid off to one.

Preston was a little thrown off by Erik's comment, but he tried not to come off as mean. "They would never hurt her. They follow the code," he explained. "It's kind of a complicated situation, but I trust them." Preston just assumed that Erik didn't know the whole story, so he thought he just needed to explain it all. --- Kai nodded, smiling. "That's really great that they're being so supportive, even after what happened to their daughter," he said just before realizing that bringing up Kylie may not have been the best idea.

"Yes because they totally dont kill off their own family members for being werewolves," Erik said to him. He was getting flustered and this wasnt his I'm trying to be a dick talk. This was naturally coming out. He didn't get what Preston was doing and honestly he was going to put that child in danger.
----
"Stop," Ari told Erik. What else could go wrong? She didn't get why they had to ruin this dinner. She was fine the way she was. She should've gotten the courage to go out alone. She ran a hand through her hair. She debated just asking Preston if they could leave.

Preston shrugged. "You have your opinions, and I have mine," he said. "But I know that they would never hurt her." Preston was trying to be as non-confrontational as possible, but Erik wasn't making that very easy. --- Kai just rolled his eyes and stood up. "Alright, I'm really sorry for this, but I think we'd all just be a lot happier if we left," he said, grabbing Erik's arm and practically dragging him out. "It was lovely seeing you again, Preston."
