Nate had been fighting with Myra a lot lately, and Nate hated every second of it. They almost never fought, but ever since she and Erik started hanging out, Nate felt like he was being left behind. He hadn't even told her about him leaving for college early yet because he hadn't had a chance. Today was no exception. Nate was royally pissed off, and anyone walking past him could probably tell that. As he walked into his house, he slammed the front door behind him and fell down on the couch. No one else seemed to be home, so he ended up just sitting on the couch crying to himself. He hated crying. To him, crying made him weak, and it wasn't like he wasn't already weak enough. But right now he was alone and angry at everything, and he had no idea how to fix any of it.

Mason was just dropped off by Lia at his house. Mason didn't want to walk him and he didn't have a licenses so Lia just normally drove him or Preston. When he could actually get Preston to care about him. He walked in quietly and set his stuff down.
He walked into the living room and was shocked to see nate crying. "What's wrong?" Mason asked.

Nate didn't hear Mason come in, so he jumped a little when he heard him ask what was wrong. "W-What?" he said, frantically wiping the tears from his face. "N-Nothing. I'm just...I'm fine." He wanted to just run off to his room, but the other part of him actually wanted to talk to someone. But Nate figured Mason would just laugh at him.

"You are aware I saw you crying right?" Mason asked. He sat next to Nate. "What's up?" Mason asked. He was actually concerned for his brother. despite what people think he actually did care about his siblings.

Nate raised an eyebrow at Mason. "Since when do you care?" he asked. He wasn't usually so off-putting, but his fights with Myra turned him into a different person, and not a pleasant one by any means. Not to mention Mason usually didn't care about Nate's feelings at all, so it was hard to believe that maybe he was actually concerned.

Mason just shook his head. "I'm not Preston. I actually give a shit," Mason said. He looked over at Nate. "Come on you can tell me. I'll play 20 questions if I have to figure out what it is," Mason said.

Nate leaned back, falling into the soft leather of the couch. "First off, Preston does give a shit. He just sucks at showing it," he said. Nate and Preston had always been close, and while Preston and Mason butted heads a lot, Nate knew that Preston would always be there if he needed him. "And second, Myra and I have just been fighting a lot. And I'm afraid that once I tell her that I'm leaving for college so soon...I'm afraid she'll just give up on us. I don't want that." Nate was fully prepared for Mason to tell him that it wasn't a big deal, but to Nate it was. Myra meant everything to him. But so did MIT. He didn't want to be in a position where he had to decide between those two things.

"Why have you and Myra been fighting?" Mason asked. Mason was too busy with Mason to notice Myra or nate acting weirdly. Mason looked over at Nate. He did actually look like he cared.

Nate shrugged. "Depends on the day," he said. "Mostly this jerkwad Erik." Nate couldn't help but feel threatened by Erik because he was everything that Nate wasn't. He was strong and attractive and if Myra wanted him, then there was nothing Nate could do to change her mind.

Erik?" Mason hard of the name so he began to think of who it could be. Then he remembered. "Myra has been hanging out with Erik? And I'm sure your relationship is fine. Myra wouldn't just leave you she's not like that. " Mason liked to hang out with Myra and he didn't think Myra would do anything bad with Erik

Nate shook his head. "It's not Myra I'm worried about," he said. "Well, kinda, but not really. It's just this Erik guy is everything that I'm not. And I can see the way that he looks at her and vice versa. She says that they're just friends, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't see it that way. And I know that if he wants her then there isn't much I can do about it."
Nate was being stupid, and even he knew that, but he couldn't help it. Myra meant everything to him and he was just terrified of losing her. "I still haven't told her about leaving early for MIT either because I'm afraid she'll just give up."
