Mason was forced by Preston to go to the doctor. He didn't want to be there. He had barely even talked to Preston besides the occasional yes or no. He had only really talked to Lia, Myra and of course Pierce. Pierce was the only person he was having normal conversations with. Pierce didn't treat him like anything was different though. Pierce just talked to him and it made Mason feel comfortable. He never brought up the accident and they just stayed in the house.
Right now though he was in a doctor's office. He had his arms crossed and was texting pierce. He didn't want to be at the doctors. There was nothing wrong with him. He didn't think there was. Well he was more indenial that something was wrong. He figured that this was normal after the accident.
He heard his name being called and hesitantly stood up. He lingered at his chair for a moment and then walked in. He sat on the corner of the couch. And just went back on the phone. Maybe the doctor would just let him leave.

Ryland was having a particularly long day after having to call the police on one of her patients. It was her least favorite part of her job, but she understood why it was necessary. It was all about the safety of the patient, but she also knew how the institutes that they are taken to treat them which makes her regret having to do so. But she had to finish off her day, even if she didn't actually want to.
"Mason Miller?" she said to the small crowd in the waiting room. A blonde boy stood up at the name and walked towards her. She smiled kindly, let him walk in, then she closed the door. "Hello. Have a seat," she said. "I'm Dr. Grayson, but you can call me Ryland if that makes you more comfortable. I don't mind either way." Flipping through the paper work, Ryland tried to get a read on what Mason was there to see her about. "So, tell me about what brought you to see me. It says here that you had an incident with a mugger? Tell me some more about that." Ryland wasn't the kind of doctor that liked to jump to conclusions and diagnoses like most doctors. She liked to assume that whatever anyone was going through could be easier talked out than medicated until it was obvious that there needed to be other measures taken.

Mason just looked up at the doctor. He didn't say anything for a moment. All he could do was just look at the ground and then went back to looking at the ground. He ran his hand through his hair nervously and just shook his head. He meant the didn't want to talk about it. He tried to ignore it but he began to think about it every time someone brought it up. As if he could feel the pain of the knife he grabbed his forearm.

Ryland waited for Mason's response, but Mason didn't say anything. She sighed, this was going to be harder than she thought it would be. "Mason, we aren't going to be able to solve this if you don't talk to me," she said. "We don't have to talk about that if you don't want to. We can talk about whatever you'd like to." Ryland tried to be as comforting as possible, but with patients who refused to talk it always got complicated. Most patients wouldn't want to pay so much for an hour of sitting in silence, but teenagers were different. Teenagers didn't actually want to be there, and usually only attended because someone forced them. So then she would have an angry parent to deal with when they wouldn't speak up.

Mason just shrugged and looked at the doctor. He didn't care if Preston got made at him. He didn't want to talk about it. He wanted to go home. He just looked at his phone when he heard it go off. He retired pierce bacj as if he wasn't doing anything.

Ryland thought for a moment about how she might get through to the boy. "You're not very talkative, are you?" she said with a slight laugh. She knew the boy wasn't stupid. He was most likely completely aware of the fact that his silence frustrated her. But how could she get him to talk. "How about this," she came up with an idea. "I'm going to ask you a few questions, and all you have to do is answer yes or no. Can you do that?" Ryland just prayed that he would say yes.

Mason thought for a moment. Did he really wnat to answer these questions? Eventually he just shrugged which was his version of yes. He looked over at the doctor. He didn't wnat her asking about what happened but he knew that was what he was here for

Ryland smiled. "Okay, so about what happened that night. You were alone at night, right? And this man just jumped out at you and robbed you, then proceeded to beat you?" she said, flipping through the notes to see if that was the story that had been written in the papers. Then she looked up at Mason to see his reaction.

Mason nodded hesitantly. He began to picture it in his mind. The events kept playing in his mind. "Stop! " Mason yelled. He wasn't sure if he was yelling at the doctor or the mugger. He was shaking though. "Stop!"

Ryland stayed calm, having dealt with this sort of situation before. "Mason, stop. Calm down. Take a deep breath with me, okay? In and out. You're perfectly safe here," she went through the motions as she tried to calm him down. She was starting to think that the PTSD idea wasn't so crazy. But it was treatable, she knew that. She just had to get through to Mason to make sure her speculations were correct.

"Leave me alone!" Mason yelled. His hands covering his ears. This time he was actually talked to the doctor. He just wanted pierce there but no he'd have to walk out o Preston there and Preston judging him. He just wanted pierce. Pierce knew how to calm him down. He just wanted this to be over. He didn't wnat to think about this.

Ryland sat quietly, waiting for Mason to calm down. It might take a while, but she knew it would happen eventually. "Mason, would you like me to get you anything? A drink or anything?" she asked. She tried to be as comforting as she could, but there wasn't often anything she could do in this situation.

Mason shook his head after he calmed down. Mason wrapped his arms around himself. His jacket came off while he wss freaking out and the word stitched on him was visible but he quickly covered it up by putting his jacket back on.

Ryland waited until Mason was seemingly calm again before asking another questions. "Okay, I'm going to ask you a few questions about what has happened with you since the event. Have you been experiencing any anxiety or hallucinations?" she asked. His condition was becoming a lot more clear to her, but she still had to ask some more questions.

Mason just nodded hesitantly again. He knew that that was a problem. He didn't like to admit he had problems. He just looked over at the doctor. "Is there something wrong with me?" Mason asked quietly and shyly.
