Jasper had always had mixed feelings about Christmas. On one hand, it was Christmas, a time that was meant to be joyful and excited and, let's be honest, presents were always great fun to open. He always loved getting things; he was horribly spoiled and materialistic, always had been. On the other hand, the Gold's house at Christmas was never fun. His dad was usually drunk, his mum was usually trying her hardest to avoid his dad, and Levi? Well, she did always seem to have a natural ability to disappear when she wanted to. The night usually ended with his muffled crying and the threat of violence, the yelling and shouting enough to drive Jasper and Levi to try and escape to one of their rooms, Jasper often trying to protect Levi from the flying shoes and and broken slurs of angry words unspoken until dark drunken nights and disrupted days.
If there was one word to describe Christmas at the Gold's, it would always be interesting.
Still, it was the first Christmas without his dad there to interrupt and, as much as he and Levi were looking forward to a Christmas alone for once, their mother had insisted on at least trying to make it more than just a family event. That meant inviting people and, whilst he was popular, it wouldn't be right to say he had many friends. Popular only really meant rich and rude, not much more. Still, Levi had decided Sky had to come, and Liam was probably going to be invited (even if Jasper had absolutely no idea what he would actually be doing at Christmas), which only really left one person to ask. Iris. Still, even if she was busy on Christmas - which Jasper quickly realised she might considering her family seemed very much orientated around each other - he definitely had to give her her Christmas present and the card that came with. Knocking at her door nervously, he rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet, badly wrapped present in hand.
