It was officially the beginning of Christmas in the Bennet household.
Christmas tunes flowed from the speakers in the living room, and various ornaments and lights were draped over the floor or the sofa's, waiting to be given a home on the tree. Christmas was quite possibly Lottie's favourite time or the year as it was really just an excuse to eat good food and be spoiled rotten with gifts from your family and friends. She already had most of her presents wrapped up in festive paper with bows or ribbon decorating them tucked up in her room, hidden from her dad or Tyler. She'd been idiotic enough to not hide them before, and, well, there hadn't been much of a surprised look from either of them when Christmas day finally came rolling round.
Though, not everything was as perfect as it seemed. They were all doing a good job to ignore it so far, but there was no denying that there was something missing from the scene.
It was the first Christmas here without their mum.
They were still making the house as festive as they normally would, but there was little things like when her mum and dad would steal a kiss under the mistletoe and her and Tyler would make fake gagging noises, even though they both knew it was actually pretty cute. Those little things they'd always taken for granted had suddenly just slipped through their fingers, and they hadn't been ready for it.
Still, she pushed those thoughts away. Her mum may be gone, but she was still determined to have a wonderful Christmas without her, even if her dad did burn the potatoes at dinner. Picking up a bauble and rolled it in her hand for a moment before throwing it across the room and hitting Tyler on the side of the head, a grin instantly coming to her lips.
