"So how are you and Jasper?" Sky's mother asked her over her shoulder while she was in the middle of yet another masterpiece. Sky sat on the couch with her phone in her hand, her feet curled under herself.
"What?" Sky replied, unsure of what exactly her mother was asking.
She shrugged. "Well, last I heard, you two hooked up at a party, and you haven't spoken a word about him ever since then. I'm just trying to stay caught up here."
Sky laughed a little. Her and her mother were more like best friends than anything else, but Sky liked it that way. She could get away with what she wanted to, but her mom was still there when she needed her. "I guess there's not really much to catch up on. I think we're avoiding each other."
"You think? Sky, you can't just run away from your problems like this. You need to go talk to him. Like now." Sky's mother had stopped painting and was looking right at her daughter.
"Now?"
"Yes, now. Go. Go go go." She practically shooed her out the door, and Skylar laughed a little, but went outside anyways. Did she actually want to talk to Jasper? She wasn't sure. Part of her was dying to see him again, and the other part of her never wanted to see him again. Not to mention Levi. God, Levi. The girl made Sky crazy, but not in the same way Jasper did. It was all so complicated.
Skylar decided to take her mother's advice though, since her mother was right more often than she was wrong. She walked to Jasper's house, and just as she was going to knock on the door, she realized that Jasper might not be the one to open the door, which might make things slightly awkward. She pulled out her phone and texted Jasper. 'Hey, we need to talk. I'm on your porch. Come let me in?'.

Levi, for the first time in years, was actually out, doing things with her life, leaving Jasper to lie upsidedown on the sofa, so bored that he was genuinely watching Guardians of the Galaxy at a distorted angle, even if he wasn't sure whether it was funny because everyone looked wrong, or if there was just a little too much blood rushing to his head... Either way, watching an angry raccoon wave a gun around from the wrong way round was hilarious, and it's not like anyone was in to judge him for doing it, right? Levi probably would've joined in if she were here, truth be told, the film was her favourite (of the moment, anyway, the girl had a habit of changing her mind every single time something new came out). They were just about at the dance off moment when his phone buzzed, and he forced himself to sit up properly, making a conscious effort to sort his hair out as he checked the text. It was Skylar.
Fuck.
Standing up and heading over to the door, he briefly considered just pretending he wasn't in, but he also knew that, whilst he was a jackass, he wasn't that much of a jackass. He'd just have to face what went on, whether he liked it or not. Fumbling to push his phone back in his pocket, Jasper swung the door open, leaning against the frame as he greeted her lazily, "y'know, I misread it as porsche the first time round, almost died of shock." He wiggled his eyebrows at her jokingly, even though they both knew Jasper loved his car more than he'd care to admit. Sure, he'd smashed it up more times than he'd care to admit, but it's not like he couldn't afford to fix it again and, if he couldn't, he could just buy another one. Life was easy when you were rich, probably always would be.

Skylar laughed a little at Jasper's joke, but anyone could tell than it was a tense laugh. "Can I come in? I need to--," Sky was about to turn this into a soap opera by saying 'I need to discuss some things to you', but then she noticed what was on Jasper's television. "Wait, are you watching Guardians of the Galaxy? I fucking love that movie." Skylar smiled, but then realized that her Marvel nerd was showing again. She became serious again, going back into soap opera mode, but she decided not to finish her previous statement. It was obvious that she'd come there to talk at this point, right? Why else would she be there? Not to mention she'd texted it to him too, so if it wasn't clear by now then Jasper was much more thick-headed than she thought he was.
She just walked past Jasper instead, letting herself in. If he didn't want her there, he wouldn't have opened the door. "Have you been avoiding me?" she asked curiously. She couldn't decide if he was purposely avoiding her, or if he had just forgotten about her completely (which seems sad, but was probably completely possible with Jasper.)

Jasper bit back a laugh, knowing that only Sky could try and be serious, only to get distracted by something as ridiculous as Guardian of the Galaxy; every other normal person would manage to keep their anger together long enough to not care what film was playing, they'd just go completely soap opera and storm in, possibly yelling the house down about something Jasper had clearly done wrong. People had a habit of assuming things were Jasper's fault, even if half the time he had nothing to do with it. Still, he followed her in anyway, running his hand through his hair as he tried to figure out what to say. He hadn't intentionally ignored her - he'd just been his typical self. In truth, he hadn't really seen anyone lately. He'd just spent his time either with Levi or his mum, determined to try and forget that anything had happened between him and Skylar, or him and Iris, for that matter. Women were just hardworking, and he really could not be arsed letting his head be turned into a mess of other people and feelings.
"Not intentionally?" he replied, although the statement was hanging on his lips like a question. Nervously, he threw her a small smile, not quite sure what else she expected him to say. That was all he really had to say, wasn't it? It answered her question, at least.

Skylar felt somewhat relieved that Jasper hadn't actually been trying to avoid her, but there were still a million questions that she wanted to ask. Of course, she would ask them all because she knew that Jasper would get tired of it eventually and just leave her or fall asleep or who knows what else. "That's good, I guess," Sky said, biting her lip slightly as she glued her eyes to the floor. What else should she say? All she really wanted to do was kiss him, but that was definitely the worst idea that she could have possibly had. "We just hadn't talked since...well you know." Because that wasn't awkward, Sky thought to herself. Why was she acting this way? She'd never been this uncomfortable around Jasper. But that was before they'd drunkenly hooked up with each other and then ceased any communication. Now they were just a big ball of awkward, and Sky wasn't sure if they could ever go back to how things were before.
