Hate wasn't a strong enough word, it couldn't even brush the tip of the ice burg. This place, this vile chunk of land was the epitome of her disgust, loathing it getting easier and easier every waking minute she was forced to spend here. Beacon Hills wasn't home. California wasn't home. America wasn't home. She hated it here. Dispensed her parents for dragging her out of Wolverhampton, and placing her in a land she once dreamed of coming to, but now couldn't stand. Everything was different. The cars, the roads, the time, the land, the weather, the people, even the way her family acted was different. She was made to drop all that she knew, everyone she grew up with, everything familiar, for her dad to get a new job in the land of the free. Grateful was the last thing on her mind, for change wasn't something she'd ever been good at adjusting to. Once upon a time, Willow had been a little ball of sunshine, all smiles and jokes, but toss her over seas and she delved into a darkness she didn't know possible. It was a phase, her parents were convinced, but she didn't see how she'd ever get over moving from her home to a place she had just the faintest clue of. Two weeks here, and she still hadn't smiled. The first seven days were spent enrolling in school, unpacking a box or two, and getting acquainted with the home the best they could, the last seven were her enduring long days at school, friends being a word she hadn't brought up since the move. Aside from her older brother Leon who wasn't doing much better than her, not that he'd ever say that, being the only person she could turn to. The time zones made it hard to stay in touch with her friends back in England, and any effort anyone here had put in talking to her was a waste. She wasn't easing up to anyone, and was set on staying that way for as long as she could. The moment her parents set out for work early Saturday morning, she tore out of the house, sending Leon a text to not worry about her- that she was just going to explore. Like that was a good idea. Two hours after leaving 'home', she was deep in the woods that surrounded the town with no cell reception, lost. Every turn she took led her in a circle, and eventually she'd just given up on trying to get out. Facing the frigid air in a thin purple shirt, dark jeans, a heavy brown coat, and a maroon scarf, she struggled to keep the shivers from shaking her. Her skin was as pale as snow, face losing color as the cold nipped at her. Standing alone in a small clearing of trees, she kept shooting glares at every noise she heard, paranoid that something was going to jump out at her. There was the briefest moment where everything was calm, but then it happened. A twig snapped and she swirled in place, body quivering as she searched for the source of the sound. Lips parted to yell out to whatever the source was, the sixteen year old ease them shut again, eyes widening with fear as a figure peaked out of the treeline. Yeah, Willow didn't like it here, but that didn't mean she wanted to die today. Every sense of hatred melted into fear. The girl was genuinely petrified for her life.

Lottie, if you're going to keep going crazy and getting lost in the woods, i want you to at least know where you're going- It's for your known good.I just want my little girl safe. Her dad probably could have phrased what he had said better, but he'd never really been that good with his words or being subtle, so it was probably as good as she was going to get. She could have been faced with a lot worse coming out of his lips, but she wasn't, instead she'd had a map jammed into her hands and had been shooed out the door. She didn't have anything better to do, so had actually done what her had had told her and went to try and get her head around preserve. So far it hadn't actually worked, she she guessed she wouldn't be able to learn all the routes in a few hours, but she could dream none the less. After walking for a few hours she decided she wanted to go home, but she needed to work out how to actually do that, which meant trying to navigate the map, which she'd never been very good at. Lottie looked up, trying to work out where she was, but it was all just trees everywhere, apart from one lonely girl. The site of her made her jump, stumbling back so she nearly fell. She didn't know what to say for a moment, but she finally found her voice "Uh- are you okay?" She asked, since the girl look terrified.

"I, uh," she was speechless, honestly scared out of her mind at the fact someone else just happened to be out roaming in the same section of the preserve she'd been. The girl seemingly lanky, and though taller in comparison, not as large as Willow eased her a bit, but she was still anxious. She already hated the place, there was no need for a strange encounter in the woods to make he dread it more. Gulping, the brunette had never been the shy type, so she found her voice and replied, "I'm okay, just lost." There was an undeniable accent in her words, clearly giving off she was from England. Biting her lip, she dared to take a step forward, the need to not be alone out weighing her fear by a long shot.
"Are you," she paused, arms hugging her chest tightly as she shivered, "Okay, though?" It only seemed polite to ask, and even if she was grumpy and spiteful, she was not going to be rude to a random blonde she met in the woods. For all she knew, one wrong move and this girl would either dice her into pieces or strand her. Biting her lip intently, she hoped the girl caught on that Willow was not a dangerous person and that she could come closer (as long as she didn't try to stab the sixteen year old, or anything, in that case she could stay right where she was).
Hopefully this girl knew a way out of here and was willing to help, but if she didn't, at least Willow wouldn't die alone, right?

It was obvious the girl was scared, and while Lottie was nervous too, she was uncharacteristicly calm during this encounter. It was strange. Maybe it was just because the girl obviously not from around her, and even though they were both lost, Lottie was the one with the map. For once, she was actually the one with the upper hand in this situation. It was a strange feeling, and one she liked; it'd be nice if she could have the upper hand in more situations. But, she was never in situations like that, so she'd have to make the most of this, really. Now, she just hoped the girl didn't randomly pull a knife and try something. That really wouldn't be to great.
She nodded to answer the girls question "Yeah, just a bit lost, too" She admitted, giving a hint of a smile. She really wished she hadn't thought of a knife, because now she was more on edge, and a lot of her former confidence in herself had gone. So much for upper hand. She stuffed her hands into her pockets and pulled out the little map she had "Do you want me to help you get back to town? Well, i could try and help, i'm not very good with maps" She added, taking a few hesitant steps towards her.

Lost too, great. Well, at least she'd be stranded with company. That was an upside. Slowly allowing herself to un-tense as the girl proved more or less harmless, Willow let a hint of a hopeful smile grace her lips at the mention of a map. That was one of her specialties, probably the only thing she picked up out of Geography. As soon as they found out where they were exactly, it should be pretty simple to get out of here. Letting her drama-filled, spiteful ego drop, she found herself becoming, well, her. There was no one to ward off and make it known she hated this place besides this girl, and at the moment, she was her only hope. It was best to play nice.
Allowing her feet to drag her towards the blonde as the girl stepped her way, she gradually came to her side, leaving some distance for safety. Glancing up at the obnoxiously taller girl, Willow registered just how short she really was. Smiling gently, she reeked of innocence, but it didn't meet her eyes. She was still flustered about being lost. "I can help with that," Willow murmured softly, pointing at the map, "Probably." Laughing anxiously, she sent her palm into her hair, scratching at her chesnut locks with a twinge of nerves.
"I'm Willow, by the way."

"Lottie" The blonde replied, handing the map over to Willow. Hopefully she wouldn't just take the map and run, but it also didn't really matter if she did, because Lottie didn't know how to use it. If she did take the map she'd be a lost girl with nothing instead of a lost girl with a map she couldn't/wasn't using. It didn't really make much of a difference. The girl seemed pretty trust worthy, though, kind of innocent and not the type of person who would leave you stranded, so she assumed (hoped) that she would help her out.

"I love the name," she replied truthfully, fingers snaking around the paper and accepting it gratefully. Scanning over it swiftly, she tried to pinpoint certain features of the landscape that she'd encountered to those on the map. Nibbling on her bottom lip with concentration, her finger glided over the surface before halting over a small circle of blue. It was the closest pond to the air where she'd entered, and had been the only one she had gone past. That was their key out here- she hoped. Speaking her thoughts, she explained, "If we can find this pond, I may be able to get us out of here. The thing is, I don't remember which way it is," she'd gotten so turned around in these woods that she barely knew up from down, "Any clue or should I just pick a direction and hope for the best?"

Lottie smiled as a thanks. Really, she should've grown out of the name by now, but she'd never been that fond of the name Charlotte, and it would just seem wrong to start calling her that now, so she'd stick with Lottie for now. She let her eyes scan over the map, as if she knew what she was looking at, then let her eyes trace over the surrounding trees. She had no idea what she was looking for, though. That's when Willow spoke again, and Lottie pushed her mind back, thinking about that pond. "I'm pretty sure it's back this way" She said, voice a bit unsure, but she was pretty certain that she'd seen it about 10 minutes before finding Willow. It was better then nothing, just wondering around blindly.

Smiling graciously as the thin blonde girl offered a tidbit of advice, she nodded and dragged her finger in the direction opposite of what she pointed to trace to approximately where they were. Glancing around, her head bobbed up and down a few times as she compared her surroundings to the map in her hands. Finally, she nodded in agreement and folded the map up. "I think you're right," she glanced up at the girl with a smile, taking one last look around before deciding that Lottie was definitely correct. "All we have to do is find that pond and we'll be out of here, yeah?" For the first time in a long time, a smile graced her lips, eager to just get out of here and not have to do it alone.
"Shall we," she asked in as polite of a tone as she could muster up, finger pointing in the direction she'd said the body of water was. Maybe this wouldn't be as bad as she thought.

Lottie nodded, completely ready to get out of the preserve and just go home and have some hot chocolate or something. Or maybe she could go over to Starbucks and see if Tyler was working or not, maybe she could tempt him into giving her a free drink since she'd had such an obviously traumatic day. She'd have to see later, though, as first she actually had to get out of here with Willow. Turning her attention to that she simply replied with a smile and "Yeah" before setting off with the dark haired girl. They'd been walking for nearly a minute before Lottie spoke again, "So, you're from England? When did you move here?" She asked, turning her blue eyes on the girl as she waited for a reply.

A smile miraculously still gracing her lips, she stepped along with Lottie- hopping over fallen trees, and scurrying around puddles. They'd barley been tredding the land for a minute before the comfortable silence they'd been in was shattered by a small grouping of questions she'd heard on loop for the past few weeks. Glancing up at the girl, she nodded, voice sickly sweet though she fought back being vile. She hated talking about purely based on the fact she hated being here. "Yeah, I'm from Britian, and just two weeks ago. First week was spent unpacking, the next was at school. So you go to Beacon Hills High?" A slender brow arched evenly on her forehead, eyes scanning over the blonde as she desperately awaited an answer. If she played her cards right, Willow could end up with a friend by the end of the day, and boy did she need one of those.

"Wow, that's a quick adjustment" Lottie said, but in some ways she could relate. When her mum had died everything had changed so quickly, it was strange, obviously a parent dying was very different from moving, but the point was she could relate to how hard it was to have your world flipped without being able to do anything about it. She let herself get lose those thoughts of her mum before she got too engrossed in them and ended up just being depressed for the whole way back, and she was glad for the question Willow asked. "Yeah, i do. Do you?" She asked, even though she was pretty sure she knew the answer.

Willow nodded slowly in agreement, that topic personally being one of her least favorites. She didn't have time to adjust to the move, let alone the country itself. Her parents didn't believe in wasting time. Their reasoning being that the kids had been in school before, this was no different, but it was. So much different. Didn't matter now, though, winter break was coming up and she'd be free to sulk at home without her pesky alarm waking her up every week day.
Tilting her head towards Lottie to present a soft smile at her answer, she replied in a calm voice, feeling comfortable enough in the presence of her to be herself. "Yeah, don't really like it though," she shrugged, not bothering to explain further because it was obvious. She didn't have any friends, and no drive to actually even to go to school. Sighing, she looked back ahead of her, trying to keep the conversation rolling by asking, "Have you always lived here?"

Lottie shrugged, Beacon Hills high wasn't a great school, and it was prone to things like break-in's and attacks every now and again, but it managed to maintain a good grade average and all that, so parents kept sending their kids there. It was pretty boring most of the time, though, and the people could be pretty crappy. "Hm, it's okay, i guess. I'm sure you'll get used to it. And yeah, i do" She replied, looking over at Willow and smiling lightly. Maybe, just maybe, Lottie had found a new friend in the girl. She sure hoped so, anyway.

The bland tone behind Lottie's words didn't reassure her much that Beacon Hills High was promising when it came to enjoying, but she nodded nonetheless. It wasn't necessarily horrible, there had been worse schools back in Britain. Still, she couldn't stand the place. She'd come around, probably, but until then she would just make do and move on from the petty hatred towards the grouping of buildings and bundles of students.
Smiling a bit as she confirmed that she'd grown up here, it made her a bit more hopeful on the chance of them making it out of here alive. Glancing up at the blonde, she couldn't help but admire her. She was beautiful, really, much more so than herself. Keeping her eyes on the girl, she continued to ask questions, "What's it like here, really?" She'd heard all the generic answers of it being 'great', but she wanted honesty.
