New student. The words just didn't sit well in his mouth. Not only were the people and the school facilities foreign to him, the country in it's entirety was fresh stomping grounds. A week, that's all the time he and his younger sister were given to adjust to the new life style before they were tossed into the local public school here in Beacon Hills. California in it's whole was a new world to the family from Wolverhampton, England, yet he was still urged to go to school despite his bags and boxes not even being unpacked. Never being one to object to his superiors, Leon obeyed and dragged himself out of bed way too early Monday morning, body still suffering from the severe case of jet lag the plane ride over here had given him. After waking his sister, and listening to her complain about the things he'd never dare bring up out of the sake of avoiding an argument, he went and got ready himself. Showering quickly, he threw on a plain black t-shirt, an old pair of blue jeans, and tugged on some socks he wasn't too sure were clean or not. The morning only dragged on from there. His mother had thrown together a meal, forcing him to sit down and eat it as Willow flooded the room with dread and misery. Needless to say, the sixteen year old wasn't too pleased about the move as a whole. She had to leave all of her friends, everything she was familiar with, and just her life in general. The older boy didn't face that problem. He wasn't exactly leaving anyone behind and didn't really have much back in England he cared for. His only problem was the whole ordeal with the time span. He hand't adjusted to the American ways yet, and he was already being forced into society. Shoveling fork fulls of food into his mouth, Leon was quick to get out of the steamy kitchen, never one to battle confrontation well.
This wasn't to say he was shy, because he wasn't be any means. He was always the one to present, to talk for his friends when words wouldn't grace their lips. He was everyone's rock, the go to man when something needed to be done. There was a drive somewhere in the back of mind that kept him going until he finished, allowing him to excel in school and generally do well when placed in groups of people. He mingled well with others, yet had no problem being alone. Whatever got him to where he needed to be he'd do, anything that brought him down he cut off. Simple as that.
Urging on a pair of black converse as the clock ticked at him, he was losing valuable time he thought he had too much of. Slicking back his damp hair, he slipped into a leather jacket that did fairly well at blocking out the heavy breezes winter brought on, he danced down the stairs into the living room. He made a move to grab his backpack, only to have a hand stop him and a voice flood his ears. "Please keep an eye on her and keep her safe, Lee," his mother begged in a whisper, desperate for her eldest to keep her baby safe. That was something she didn' t have to say, for Leon already had a game plan on keeping little Willow safe in the big, bad, American high school. Nodding to ease her mind, he grabbed the strap of his maroon read bag, and kissed her cheek. Plucking his phone off the kitchen table where he'd left it, he patted his pockets to make sure his wallet and keys were in place- which they were. Easing his way towards the door, he yelled for his sister to hurry up before pulling himself outside. Today, they were going to walk. The school wasn't too far from their new home, so it wasn't much of a hassle. Normally he would have driven, but he was still trying to grasp the whole idea of different sides and all.
Once his sister waddled outside, they set off, making small talk until they arrived at the grand school. The look on their faces was twisted, their stomachs knotted at the idea of all the questions they'd receive being the new kids. Shaking it off, Leon played brave for the girl and lead her to her first class, making sure she had a map of the school and her schedule in hand before he departed and looked for his own class. Keeping his head down as he walked through the halls alone, he tried to not draw much attention to himself. That was something he was genuinely good at, and he did it all day, managing to stick to the back of the classes and chatting with the teachers at the end of each lesson before heading to the next one. The day went smoothly, until lunch came. Being new had many downsides, the main one being he had no friends. Willow didn't have the same lunch he had, so he was utterly alone. Tray in hand, he cast a glare across the room, looking for a vacant table without success. A lonesome look on his face, he once again turned his head down, walking along the wall in hopes of finding a seat before lunch ended.

Abandoned by the majority of her friends, Rose walked the school alone, gaze set straight ahead, not bothering or working towards making eye contact with someone who hated her. Lessons were much the same. Lunch was a slightly more tricky situation, people still occasionally came to her, after all, not everyone knew the truth but Lia never came and Liam... well, as far as Rose knew, Liam was gone.
Today on a Monday, Rose ate alone. Seats empty around her as she fiddled with her phone, trying to look busy, trying to not show that she bored out of her mind. Lonely, oh so lonely. Shoving a piece of apple into her mouth, Rose crunched down on it, swallowing before looking up and around. For once looking for someone's eyes to catch. Someone to ease the loneliness. There was someone, some other unknown lonely soul. Actually, he was really unknown.
He was new. It must have been his first day, he looked utterly lost.
Studying him for a moment, he must have felt her gaze as he looked up and Rose tried to look away, not fast enough though and her eyes caught his. Offering him a small smile, Rose glanced from his tray to the seats around her, as if saying you want to sit down?

At this point, Leon was convinced he'd never find a spot and his lunch would go to waste. He only had a few classes after this so it wasn't like he'd starve, but still. It wasn't the best thing to spend his first day utterly alone. Aside from that girl in math who'd kept casting flirtatious gazes his way and he'd fallen ultimately awkward- which was something he never was. He wasn't shy either, but being foreign to this school and country, he didn't know how to socialize with the people here. What were they like? Did women fawn over English accents like everyone said they did? Would he be considered cool because he's from Britain? Or would he be an outcast for the rest of his time in high school? Back in Wolverhampton, he'd been rather popular, yet didn't have any close friends he really missed. People always left, and he learned that early on in life, so he just stuck to himself and those who appreciated that. It kept him going straight and helped out the ones who bothered to stick around in the long run.
So when he felt a pair of eyes on him, Leon was hesitant to look up, scared of what he'd see. America was weird, the people here either feral or far too kind. Hazel irises batting up, he caught a girl in a rush to look away, but he'd caught her. She seemed reluctant at first in motioning him over with her eyes, but she had. Now it was his choice. Did he really want to bother this girl if she was so cautious on inviting him over or should he just kindly object and hide in the bathrooms? The number of people lingering behind him as he halted the flow of students decided for him, and he made his way over to the brunette in a quick motion.
Setting his tray down gently on the near empty table, he slowly took a seat, still not too sure on the idea. Once his bottom was firmly in place, he leaned forward and spoke to her over the roar of the crowd in his charming accent. "You really don't have to let me sit with you if you don't want me too." He was just as used to rejection as he was praise, generally being all around grounded making it easier for him to get over little bumps. Leaning back some to escape her bubble, he offered her a cheeky smile, his pudgy cheeks hiding his eyes behind the layer of tanned flesh.
His hands fell to his lap, backpack still firm on his back as he adjusted himself on the seat. His face softened into just a kind mask, eyes roaming over the girl's own face for a moment before he once again spoke, this time not feeling the need to curl over the table as the lunch room dulled its noise. "I'm Leon, by the way. Just moved here a week ago." Not wanting to over step his boundaries, he still didn't touch his food, not wanting to start eating and her change her mind on having his company.

Rose could sense the hesitation rolling off of the boy and rolled her eyes inwardly, not letting the action show on her face in case he noticed. Still, he was brave enough to walk over place his tray down and slowly take a seat. Eyes flicking back up to him, she was momentarily surprised at his lean towards her but decided to roll with it. Oh, he sounded so sweet and polite. At first Rose didn't notice the accent and replied without commenting on it. "No, you're fine. Better you sit here with me than on the floor by the bin all by yourself." Rose pulled a small smile, easing her way back into her chair.
It was hard to tell what this guy was like. British. Incredibly so. Manners and politeness seemed to roll off of him, it was a pleasant change to the normal nature of those around her. Eyeing the bag still on his back, Rose guessed that he was still doubting whether she was okay with his company there. Any company would do. Being constantly lonely was sickening.
Now when he spoke again, Rose picked up on his accent easily. It was obvious that he had only just moved to the states recently. His accent was still crisp and clear. "Rose and I've lived her my whole life. So, welcome to Beacon Hills." And all of it's craziness and supernatural shit.

So far, so good, he guessed. She hadn't snapped at him or bitten his head off, maybe today would end with him getting a new friend. Maybe. There was just something about her that kept him leaning away, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Didn't matter now, lunch didn't last long and the odds were she would forget him by the end of the day. Not that he didn't leave an impression, the new British kids were being spoke about all over school, but she just seemed to have so much on her mind that Leon would just slip into the shadows of her thoughts.
Despite her words, he still didn't take off his backpack, ready to leave at any moment even though she insisted it was okay that he stayed. He knew not to push his luck. Pursing his lips, he kindly kept his gaze level with hers, his hazel eyes holding the smile that didn't meet his mouth. He was sweet, really, just unsure in this environment. Usually, he was a mixture of authoritative leader, and a cuddly teddy bear- even if his size was a bit baffling. He outstretched his father's height long ago, yet was average around here, maybe just a tad bit taller than the general population. As long as he didn't stick out that much he didn't mind at all.
Finally, a small grin graced his lips as she spoke her name and accepted into the community, his accent coming into play again as he returned, "Rose, lovely name, and thank you- no one's properly welcomed me here. Though, it's not really like I left the house anyways." Leon hadn't gotten the chance to site see. It was unpack, and then school.
Easily managing to keep the smile on his lips, he tilted his head some, fingers teasing the food on his plate, but never commiting to actually grabbing it and eating.

Maybe his bag on his back was a comfort, like always wearing the same piece of ribbon around your wrist; Rose decided not to question the bag on his back, choosing to not make it awkward. "So I'm guessing you haven't had a chance to explore the area then yet?" Rose asked, snatching another piece of apple from in front of her, Rose bit down on part of it before noticing him fiddling with the edges of his food. Did he not like to eat? Has she just signed up to lunch with someone who after all didn't actually enjoy food?
Rose hoped not.
"Are you.. going to eat?" Rose asked after a moment, small smile twitching at the corners of her mouth. "It's cool if you're not." Rose added hastily, trying to once again avoid discomfort.

"This is the first time I've left the house since getting here," he teased lightly, really not meaning it. Sort of. He'd been to the store, walked around his neighborhood, and that was it. There was no time at all to explore while unpacking. "I've had my nose stuffed in boxes for the past week getting my house to somewhat resemble a home, haven't had a chance to check out the town." Shrugging, the bag bobbed on his back, and he could tell it bothered her. She kept glancing at it as if it was a tumor lodged on his skin. So hesitantly, he eased it off and set it in the sat next to him as he settled into the seat once again.
Leon was just so out of practice with the school system and society that it was taking him a bit to adjust into talking. Luckily Rose was putting up with him.
In his chirpy accent, he gasped, "Oh! Yeah, sorry. Just, didn't know if I should or not. Seemed rude. Sorry, hard to explain, I just," he cut himself off, dropping his head as he blushed at how awkward he was coming off. That wasn't him, he was charming and collected, not anxious and fidgety. He blamed the new environment. Dipping his hand onto the tray, he plucked up a carrot, nibbling on it as he kept his gaze down.
Collecting his cool, he threw on a smile and looked back up at Rose as the vegetable fled down his throat and into his stomach. One piece of food down, just the rest of the orange lengths and a greasy peice of pizza to eat before his lunch was gone. "Why are you alone?" Leon decided to dare to ask. She was a pretty girl with a lot of charisma, why was she all by herself during the most sociable time of day?

"Ah, I'll have to show you the 'sights' then," Rose commented using little quotation marks with her fingers as she said the word 'sights'. There really wasn't that much around but there was enough. So Rose was guessing that Leon and his family had no idea about the supernatural lurking in the shadows, in the very cafeteria for that matter; Rose could see her cousins bright red head from over hear. It was probably best though, not knowing about the supernatural, especially with the current lack of peace between hunters and werewolves. Smiling slightly as he lost his back, Rose tugged at the edge of her tray, fingers sliding across the cool plastic. As he spoke again, Rose wondered if she'd grow used to such a different accent around here. It was nice, a break from the normal twang. Oh and he blushed and Rose felt a wave of sympathy for him. "No need to apologize." Rose told him with a small laugh, this was the most pleasant encounter she'd had in weeks. His question though stumped her, the laugh falling short as Rose glanced down at the table, scouring her mind for a reason. "I'm alone because I did something stupid and now my best friend hates me and my boy-" Rose cut herself off briefly, "ex-boyfriend went MIA and we have no idea where he is. But that's what happens in high school. You'll be alright though, you don't strike me as an idiot."

Still attempting to properly recover from his embarrassed blush, a wave of relief washed over the boy at her promise to show him around and that heart warming laugh. In fact, it encouraged him to eat further, becoming more and more comfortable around Rose. She was a really pleasant girl to be around, and for the first time since arriving, Leon was actually glad they'd moved here. Yeah, he missed his pals and Sophia, but he knew- he just knew that everything would be better here. He would move on and meet better friends, a more loving girlfriend- and this realization all came from a gentle little chuckle gracing the girl's lips. So, with a new found sense of enthusiasm, he picked up his greasy school pizza and took a bite, even daring to scrunch up his face in a silly fashion and glance her way as he ripped the end off and chewed. But his playful action ended swiftly once she fell serious and began to speak again. Swallowing hesitantly, he eased the slab of food back onto the plate settled on the center of his tray and rested his gaze sorrowfully on her face. Her words struck his heart, for he of all people knew the feeling of being bitterly alone. Right then, he promised himself that he wouldn't let her wither the way he did. That he would be here for her whether she liked it or not. His lips twisted into the smallest of smiles, his caramel hued eyes filling to the rim with hope. Fingers pressed to the edge of his tray, he spoke to her in a promising tone, "Well, Rose, you aren't alone any more. I'm here until your friends come back around and when your ex returns from wherever he is- and I'll be here after if you'd like me to," then, on a lighter, teasing tone, he added, "And I can be an idiot at times, just you wait." Sending a playful wink her way, it was merely friendly- Leon was anything but a flirt. Loving and all, but oblivious to how inviting he came off as. Easing the pizza slice back into his grip, he nibbled at the end as he waited for a rebuttal.

Face turning into a grin as Leon attacked his slice of pizza, Rose couldn't help but laugh at the face he made, eyes sparkling with new found amusement. So far Leon seemed like the right kind of friend to have, open in happy, not to closed in but not in anyway too much in your face that you could only spend short periods of time with the person before pretending to have a pending issue to attend to.
He also had the kind of reactions to things which made you feel as if you could tell the person everything. When Leon spoke next though, he gave her more than she could have hoped for after inviting him to lunch. Smiling back Rose tilted her head slightly, "I think I'll keep you around for a while or until you get bored with me." Rose replied with a gentle smirk. "Oh I can be an idiot, too. We'll make a great pair." And just like that Rose was finishing her food and Leon was eating his pizza. "So, I don't think you told me why you and your family moved here?"

God, he was shocked. How was the school pizza this good? As greasy and heavily dosed in toppings as it was, it was the best thing he'd eaten since arriving here in the States. He was honestly impressed, and easily pleased by this slice of heaven. Whilst she processed his words and picked at her own food, he nearly had the entire slab of dough dissolved, the contents evaporating in the acid pit at the base of his stomach.
It was good pizza.
Snapping out of foodgasm, Leon tilted his head at her words, fighting down a chuckle and settling for a gentle grin. Boy, he was glad at her words. Graced with a friend and delicious food, today was more than amazing. Swallowing hastily, he placed the crust of the pizza down on the plate, eyes remaining glued on hers as he debated what to say. Luckily, he had a way with talking, and always knew what to say. From convincing his parents that his sister hadn't done anything wrong and that he was to blame (even if that wasn't true) to smooth talking his way into having people see his point of view. He was filled to the rim with advice and good thoughts, he was the one everyone turned to in the end for help. "I don't think I'll ever get bored of you, Rose," he cheered, smiling sheepishly as he nodded, "The best pair." Nibbling on his lower lip for a moment, he shrugged, voice crisp as he explained, "My father was offered a better job here in the States so he took it. I wasn't leaving much behind, but my sister isn't too pleased about it all."

"Don't say anything about boredom yet, I haven't made you watch the same Disney movie five times." Rose told him with a chuckle. The words bought memories though, memories of the fact that she and Liam had been discussing going to Disney, how he'd suffered in silence through a High School Musical marathon more times than she could really count. The memory of these events didn't make Rose felt empty and sad though, if anything it pushed a warm, nostalgic feeling thought her.
"The best, eh?" Rose queried with a rare smirk, pushing a strand of hair away from her face, not exactly in the mood to be tickled by it. Listening to Leon tell her while he'd moved here, Rose felt herself nod along, thoughts flitting to Jamie briefly. "So you weren't sad to leave? No girlfriend or group of friends you had to say goodbye to? The house you grew up in?" Rose had never really felt like like leaving Beacon Hills, it was home even with the chaos it had.

"You've got to be kidding me," he exclaimed with a bit too much eagerness, hands slapping his thighs as he leaned forward with a grin, "How is that boring?" Leon was a Disney nut. He loved the movies, the characters, and could recite any given song like it was nobody's business. "As long as the Toy Story movies are involved, I'm in for a marathon every week." Grinning from ear to ear, he let out a soft chuckle, calming himself out of his Disney induced hype. He found himself munching on his crust, mind flickering back to when he'd been teased for dressing up as Woody one year. Not letting it get to him, he set his food down and pushed the tray away. As hard as he tried, he kept thinking back on being bullied for his weight, and it had extinguished his appetite for the day. Hoping the sorrow hadn't brushed over his chiseled features, he dropped his gaze.
"The best," he said with as much cheer as he could muster up, desperate to not let his momentary sadness seep through his cheery mood. He was not going to bring this conversation into a her pitying him, he wasn't going to be a downer. Setting his full attention back on her, he strengthened his smile and debated how to answer her question without confessing everything about himself. Mystery is what kept people around, if he were to spill the beans now he wouldn't be as fun to hang around. "Well," he shrugged, putting it simply, "I was sad, but I knew that it'd be better here. My parents would do better here and Willow could use the experience with the world. I would get a fresh start," fiddling with his words, he tried to describe all that he'd left, "I had a girlfriend. She was beautiful, and I love her still, but I'm not going to make Sophia deal with an overseas relationship. It was hard to do, but I let her go. She deserves better than me anyhow. My house was nothing special, the one we have now is more functional, really," he sighed thinking about his friends, those four boys being the thing he really missed most, "Yeah, I left a group of boys behind. Harry, Niall, Louis and Zayn- god, you would have loved them." He spoke so highly of them, a glimmer of remembrance in his eyes as he recalled all the fun he'd had with his mates. He missed them, but didn't miss home.
Leon was better off now.

"Wait! You like Disney?" Rose asked with a happy laugh, "where have you been my whole life. I literally make people suffer through Disney marathons because they're not as fun when you watch them by yourself." Realizing that she was beginning to ramble Rose just slowly faded off into a grin. Well, at least they had one definite thing in common, that was always an easy way to keep a friendship going and at least now she probably wouldn't have to force any members of her family to watch films with her, maybe.
Noting a sudden shift in Leon's mood, Rose frowned, wondering what had bought it on. Not pushing the matter, Rose waited for him to say something else, feeling that was the best way to go. "Oh, I'm sorry about your girlfriend, that must have been rough on you both." And she meant, so many times Rose had thought back to Liam, wondering where he was and when he'd ever return. "Ah, well one day you'll have to introduce me to these four boys via Skype or something, I'm sure they're great." Rose told him with a smile, glad to have invited Leon to come and sit and eat with her today.

"I love it!" Leon chanted a bit too loudly, drawing the attention of a few nearby students. Honestly not even bothered by the glares, he let his sorrow fade and joy flourish once again. "Disney is my favorite," he said with an eager hype, mind racing with thoughts of all ths fairytales he'd watched over the years. "I've been in Britain," he lamely joked, chuckling at himself as she explained that she practically had to tie people down watch movies with her. "They're never as fun alone as they are with a friend," he agreed, friendly adding, "If you ever need a movie buddy, I've got you covered."
Slowly calming some, be just smiled gently and shook his head at her apology. Him and Sophia had dated for a year, yeah, but it wasn't so heartbreaking to leave. She had a promising future there, and he knew he'd be fine here. It was mutual and they were both happy in the end- they still talked and cared for each other. So softly, he said, "It was hard, but we lived. Everything is fine between us." His heart strings tugged, though, as she mentioned video chatting the boys. It was genius idea, and he easily agreed with a swift nod. "We should do that some time, but no promises on Niall not flirting with you, he's a hopeless lover. Harry, too. He's a charmer with those big eyes and even bigger curls." Chuckling, he really wished they were here. They made him whole, and now all he had was pizza blessed by God and a girl who proved a promising friend. He'd be okay, but he wished they were here, still.
