Honestly, Blake had never rented a film before in his life. He'd always been one of those people that either had to see something the minute it came out (aka any MARVEL film), or would rather stream it online so he didn't have to pay for something he was only ever going to watch once and then stash away in a drawer somewhere to forget about, and renting had never really occurred to him until know. The plan was to find a copy of Mean Girls and surprise Braydon with a chickflick movie night (something Braydon would have absolutely no say in), Blake ding his best to make up for all the crap that had gone on lately. It was easier than going out on a date, Blake still felt sketchy going out in public with no hair - sure, he could just explain that he'd had surgery, but that'd also mean reminding everyone about the accident, which he wasn't sure if he was okay with. Not only that, but his doctor was considering to chemo, and he was terrified of the time where he'd start having to buy wigs, or finding a way to explain to everyone at school why his hair wasn't growing back. Still, that was all stuff to worry about later, as right now all that mattered was the impending movie night.
Pulling his hat further down so it covered his ears, he moved to stand in the queue for the register, accidentally brushing shoulders with the girl in front of him. "Crap, sorry, I, uh-" he paused, biting his lip as he realised he actually knew who it was, even if they'd only really met once. "Alina, right?" he asked, offering her a nervous smile, almost a little relived that it was her and no anyone else. She already knew about half Blake's hospital problems (not to mention having some of her own, even if Blake hadn't figured out what yet), and so it's not like she'd be the one to judge, right?

Renting movies wasn't something Alina did often, but while she was on her way home from another chemo session, she decided that she might as well have something interesting to watch while she laid in bed for the rest of the right. Of course, the last thing she expected was to run into a familiar face. "Blake, hi," she said, smiling slightly. She didn't feel extremely up for socialization, considering chemo usually just made her completely exhausted, but Alina couldn't risk giving up her secret, right?
Though she was a little surprised when she noticed Blake's new haircut. "Nice hair," she said. "Or lack there of." It wasn't meant to come out like an insult, even if maybe it did. But Alina knew what it was like to be bald, and she'd spent a good amount of effort trying to hide it. How anyone would ever want to cut their hair like that, Alina would never understand.

Blake just forced a smile, knowing that it was just an offhand compliment, and that Alina really hadn't meant to upset him by saying it. She just didn't know how upset he was about losing it, and especially the very real idea that he might not get it back any time soon. He could buy a wig, he supposed, but it still wouldn't feel right somehow, he decided. "I, uh, I had brain surgery a week or so ago," he explained with a small shrug, hoping that would explain everything - not that Alina really needed to know. Honestly, part of him wanted to just tell her everything, but they'd only ever really spoken once or twice and, as sure Blake was that she'd understand, he didn't want to be the guy that spilled his sorrows just because someone was nice to him. Besides, he had Braydon to do that to, right?

Alina felt her heart drop a little. She had figured that Blake just shaved his head because he wanted to, not because he had to. She knew how that felt all too well. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," she said quickly. "It went well, though, right?" The least she could do was make sure that Blake was okay, physically anyways. Alina felt somehow connected with this guy, though she would never really admit it. Part of her had always wanted someone that she could just be herself with, but at the same time it seemed counterproductive. The whole point of wearing a wig and lying about why she was out of school so much was so that no one would know she had cancer. So telling anyone was just out of the question.

"It's fine," Blake replied with a small shrug, still insisting on throwing Alina a cheerful smile, even if still just felt a little rundown and under the weather. Being ill sucked. He just felt tired all the time, and Braydon and his parents were so hung up on making sure he was okay when it came to seizures, headaches and everything else that came with the brain, that they'd neglected to even notice the loss of appetite, the sleepless nights, or even how his mood had started to dip ever so slightly (even if Blake would be the last person to ever admit that). "And yeah, I think it went well. I mean, I don't think I could'v been much worse than I was before anyway, so..." he trailed off, not quite sure where he was going with this. Biting his lip, he pulled his hand down slightly, something he'd taken to doing now that he couldn't run his hand through his hair.

Alina nodded, biting her lip slightly before speaking up again. "Well that's good," she said. A yawn escaped from her lips, her exhaustion starting to get the better of her. But Alina didn't want Blake to think she was bored of him or anything, so she didn't leave quite yet. Though she wasn't sure how to keep the conversation going after that, which left her standing there silently, glancing from Blake to the floor. She really was enjoying their conversation, however awkward it may have been. But Alina had this new need to be friends with Blake. He was different from most of her friends, and she liked that.

"Tired?" Blake asked, raising an eyebrow at her as she yawned, although he couldn't really blame her if he was honest. He fault about as exhausted as she looked and, if it wasn't for the fact he'd insisted on taking a nap before he left the house today, he probably would be yawning too. It could be to do with whatever was going on with her, he supposed, if she was even still ill. He was still yet to tell her that he knew about that, he didn't quite know how to approach the topic without just sounding like a creep. Besides, for all he knew, she was just in hospital for a passing visit, right? He shouldn't assume, and so he wasn't going to. Part of him wanted to invite her over for the evening, concluding that what would probably happen is they'd put a film on and they'd both fall asleep, but yet again he really didn't want to be that guy, and so decided against it.

Alina nodded slightly. "I guess I've just been really busy lately. School and cheer leading and everything," she said. Oh yes, Alina was a cheerleader. If there was any stereotype for the typical queen bee, Alina fit into it. Except, of course, the whole cancer thing, but since no one knew about that, then it didn't matter. Alina never let anything slow her down. The future was always the most frightening thing in Alina's life, considering she never knew just how much future she had left. But she planned it all out like she had the rest of time to do everything she ever wanted to. If she acted like nothing was wrong, maybe it would actually become true.
