Pierce and Mason were at his house, for once, since they seemed to be the only people in town that could take care of Hope. Preston had work, Nate was visiting some college in Connecticut, Lia was at dance rehearsal, and they were all doing just about everything they could to take any stress off of Matt and Ryan, so they weren't exactly babysitting material. So that left Mason and Pierce, which initially seemed like a terrible idea, until you realized that between the two of them they had eight younger siblings. It was safe to say that they knew a thing or two about babies.
Hope was surprisingly expressive and happy considering how young she was. She almost never cried, and she always seemed to be smiling. Even if she was hungry or needed her diaper change she would only let out a little yelp or some quiet noise to let you know. "She is the chillest baby I have ever met in my life," Pierce said with a smile, Hope looking up at him from his arms. Then he looked at Mason. "Want to hold her?" he asked. Mason had been hesitant about holding and interacting with Hope, but Pierce wasn't sure why.

Mason shook his head. After the accident he wasn't sure about anything and he knew for sure he didnt want to somehow hurt the baby. He looked at Hope and she started staring at him. "Pierce the baby is judging me." Mason said very seriously.

Pierce raised an eyebrow at Mason. "The baby doesn't even have any idea that your clothes aren't permanently stuck on your body," he said. "How on earth do you think she's judging you?" Pierce was honestly quite curious, knowing that Mason's reasoning was probably going to be funny.

"She has a brain she can judge besides she's Preston's kid and he always judges me." Mason said. He continued staring at the baby who just giggled. @"and now she's laughing at me."

Pierce just rolled his eyes playfully. "The baby is not judging you, Mason," he said with a laugh. "And she's not laughing at you either. She just laughs a lot, isn't that right?" He looked down at Hope. It was safe to say that the little one had everyone wrapped around her pretty little finger.

Pierce laughed a little. "It's very true," he said. Why Mason was rambling on about all of these things, Pierce wasn't sure. He just decided to go with it, since he figured Mason was probably just nervous.

Mason just stared at the kid when it started crying. "Pierce she's crying!" Mason said as if he were completely terrified. He just stared unsure what to do.

Pierce was a little surprised when she started crying too, considering he'd never actually heard her cry. "Hey, it's okay," he said to her in his baby-speaking voice. He got up and made her a bottle before walking back to the couch and giving it to her. "That's better, isn't it?" Pierce looked up at Mason. "Come here." He patted the couch next to him, trying to get Mason to sit with him.

Pierce shook his head. "No, come here," he said, not letting Mason get away with trying to distract him. Pierce wasn't sure why Mason was so afraid of being around Hope, but he was going to figure it out somehow. "Why are you so nervous?"

"I'm not I'm fine." Mason said he stood up and tried to find something to do which was organize things. He just stared at the ground and then went back to organizing an already origanizied shelf.

"Mason, stop," Pierce said. "You're obviously not fine. What's going on?" Pierce wasn't sure if Mason was just nervous about having the baby around or if there was something else going on. But he'd get him to talk. He always did.

"I'm fine." Mason insisted. He looked at the ground and didn't say anything else. HE moved over to the coffee table and took the empty glass into the kitchen and then came back.

"Alright, then come sit with me," he said, raising an eyebrow at Mason. Hope was still sucking away at her bottle happily, feet kicking a little occasionally. Pierce had seen what happened when people stayed nervous around children. Isaiah would always refuse to be around anyone under the age of four, and it he still did. Pierce didn't want Mason to do that to himself.
