Iris was meant to be meeting up with friends to go ice skating for her birthday, which just so happened to be today. Today she was officially the dancing queen, but there was no one here to see that yet. She'd managed to get to the ice skating rink early since her dad was driving this way for a meeting or something so she'd grabbed a lift even if it had meant she arrived early. She'd gone in anyway and got sorted with some skates, and was just beginning to tie them up when her phone buzzed. Slowly she picked up the phone, dreading what the messages might say, and honestly felt like crying when she read them. "my mum's making me study today so i can't come. i'm SO sorry. happy birthday though x" "same. happy birthday, love you loads. i'll give you your present on monday xx"
Of course. It was one of the lows of having a birthday in the week coming up to exams. Her few other friends had already said they couldn't come, and the two that had just bailed on her were the only two people she could really expect to spend the day with her. She lent her head against the wall and closed her eyes, making sure she didn't cry over something so petty. It was only her birthday, she'd get over it. Now she was just torn between going home, wasting her money and moping around by herself now, or skating by herself and looking like the complete loner she apparently was.

Dragging Jamie into the ice rink, Rose kept tugging on her cousins arm, already feeling colder than she liked to be, it was no unknown tale that Rose hated the cold or being cold or anything to do with the cold for that matter but Jamie insisted, stating that this is something she was desperate to see in Beacon Hills. For some unknown reason Rose had expected to not see anyone else here but there, straight up ahead was Iris. Or at least Rose thought it was... she looked sad. "Iris! Hi," Rose said, releasing Jamie from her grip now that they were in here Rose didn't care what she did, as long as she was quick or if she got Rose a hot chocolate, not that her cousin was her bitch or anything. "You alright?" Rose asked after a moment, Jamie hovering by her side, "this is Jamie by the way, she's my cousin."

Iris' eyes shot open when she heard her name being called, and she pushed on a smile for Rose. Rose was a nice girl, and Iris didn't want to burden her with the fact that it was her birthday and everyone had better things to do. Not that it would be a burden, Rose probably wouldn't really care that much. "I'm fine. Hi Jamie" She said as she looked at the other girl, her voice quieter then usual as she was afraid it'd crack or something

"Hello," Jamie replied smiling at the girl who she assumed was Iris. "You don't look fine.. if you don't mind me saying that." Yes, there was the sign that Rose and Jamie were related neither of them had much in a way of a filter. "Are you going skating?" Jamie asked after a moment looking over at the ice with a certain curiosity, she hadn't been skating in years and she didn't think that Rose ever had. "If you are, could we join you, please?" Desperate attempts to make friends called for desperate measures and one of those desperate measures was forcing Rose to endure ice, an action Jamie was sure she;d never hear the end of.

"Well i am fine." Iris said sharply to the red head, pursing her lips slightly. She was still upset, but she was slowly becoming slightly frustrated and annoyed because that's just how emotions worked some times, much to Iris' annoyance. "Sorry" She added quickly, giving a shy smile to her before shrugging "I don't know. I guess i could, if you wanted me too..." She had nothing better to do, so she may as well try and make some new friends, right?

Liam was with Jasper after he dragged Jasper to the ice rink deciding he wanted to go ice skating. He was walking to go put on his ice skates. He saw his friend Rose there and smiled,"Hey Rose." Liam said with a smile not carrying she was talking to someone.

Ice Skating? No, no, no, that was something Rose did definitely not want to do but Iris did looked sad and even if she was denying it she wasn't a very good liar. Besides maybe if people saw Rose fall over on her ass about 20 times it might cheer them up. Hearing her name being called Rose spun around and saw Liam, "Liam!" Rose replied with a smile, looking at Jasper who had obviously been dragged here.

"Cool, I'll go get us some skates, okay Rose?" Jamie said but her cousin had already become distracted. Rolling her eyes and walking away, Jamie paid for both the hire of hers and Rose's skates, knowing that otherwise she would not get Rose onto that ice, or frozen hell as Rose would probably call it. Lugging them back over to the group, Jamie dropped them on the floor, looking out over the ice for a bit.

Jasper had let Liam go get the skates under the impression that he'd return pretty quickly, with skates. What he hadn't expected was for the fool to go and join a conversation with Rose Harper, of all people. Yes, Jasper was aware that they were friends and no, he wasn't happy about it. Still, he wasn't about to actively do anything about it, already knowing that the chances were that the more times Jasper would try to pull them apart, the more they'd end up trying to huddle together like two emperor penguins. With a sigh, he finally decided to make his way over to the group, making a conscious effort to not talk to Rose. It was only when he got there that he realised that Iris was there too, and so he quickly slipped round to her instead, standing next to her as he murmured, "I told Winston you said hi - he told me to stop damaging his reputation by pretending he and I were friends." He offered her a small smile then, easily recognising that she wasn't in the best of moods. He'd cheer her up if he could and, if he couldn't.. Well, he'd probably end up making a conscious effort to make it worse.

Iris was too busy watching the conversation between Rose and Liam and not participating in it that she didn't notice the next person joining the group. She couldn't help but jump slightly when she did hear his voice, and she came face to face with Jasper, his comment actually bringing a hint of a real smile to her lips. "Thanks. But i do agree with him, my reputation is probably bad enough without hanging around with you" She smirked, not that she really had any reputation to be ruined. Still, she took a baby step away from him, which almost caused her to stumble in the ice skates. Being on actual ice would be fun.

"Sometimes you really do hurt me with your words, Weata," Jasper replied quickly, feigning offense by pouting slightly, even if she had said meaner things to him before. Oh well. "I'll have you know my reputation isn't even that bad... If, y'know, you exclude the bit where everyone thinks I'm a pretentious dickbag with more money than brain cells," he continued, knowing full well what most people thought of him and, well, not really caring. People would talk about you no matter what you were like, so what was the point in trying to be anything other than who you are?
"Besides, I think you're reputation may be ruined by me already. I mean, some people might even think we're friends. Shocking, right?"

"I'm not even sorry" Iris told him with a shrug, pulling her hair over one shoulder as she quickly glanced over to Rose, Liam and Jamie to make sure they were okay. They seemed to be, and Iris was beginning to feel okay and normal again; so everyone here weren't her usual friends, but they were making her feel like less of a loner which she was very grateful for. Jasper's voice brought her vision back to him, and she smirked "It's really amazing that so many people know you so well" Yeah, she was beginning to think Jasper was nice, but he was still a pretentious dickbag and she couldn't deny it. She gasped at his next sentence, looking at him with fake horror "Friends? Oh god no. This cannot be happening to me"

"I know, it's horrible... I can't have you damaging my rep by making people think I'm actually a nice guy either, by the way. I mean, people might actually start considering me approachable - I'm really not sure I can live with that." He grinned again, unable to keep a light laugh from escaping his lips as he bothered to glance around at everyone else. They all seemed okay, and yet he couldn't actually figure out why everyone had decided to just stand in a huddle rather than actually, well, skate. Surely that was the plan when you went to an ice rink? ...Clearly not when you were with this group of people. "So, do you actually wanna skate, or is the plan just to stand on edges with skates and try to look pretty?" he added, raising an eyebrow at Iris, as he glanced back at the group again for a moment, honestly not caring what Rose and Jamie were doing - just Iris and Liam.

"Now now, don't get too ahead of yourself. I'm pretty sure most people still think you're a douche" Iris teased even though it was the probably truth. Hanging out with different people once or twice didn't tend to change peoples ideas about you too much. She glanced around the group again, wondering if they were going to go ice skating at some point or not. "I don't know. I was just going to go home actually then you guys turned up and now i don't know if im going skate or go home" She explained with a shrug, looking back at him.

Noticing the pairs of skates at her feet Rose let out another signature Rose sigh before picking up a pair and walking away. Knowing that she hadn't really excused herself from her conversation with Liam, Rose felt a sudden short pang of guilt but it quickly subsided when she reminded herself that if anyone was the victim here today, it was her. Replacing her own shoes with what looked just like a tragedy waiting to happen, Rose tightened the skates around her ankles and lower leg before wondering how from here on the bench she was supposed to reach the ice aka what Rose guessed would lead her to an early death.
