It had meant to be a simple trip out of town to collect some more herbs they'd needed- things like wolfsbane and mountain ash, but it had turned out to be so much more. Evans had been out of town with her dad, collecting the things they were running low of in the clinic, when they'd ended up playing hunters in the local woods- or were they playing the pray? She didn't know, but what she did know was that this wasn't just some training exercise, this was the kind of encounter her dad had been training her for her whole life. Local wolves who didn't know them had named them hunters, or just a threat, she wasn't sure, and had decided they couldn't risk waiting until Evans and her father struck first. That had left the two in an awful situation, as they had no weapons, no gear to fend off an attack of any kind. But there they were, in the woods, with only mountain ash which they couldn't even use too much of to protect themselves with.
By the time Evans had managed to convince the pack they meant no harm it was too late for her father. He'd past away, and she'd been taken to a hospital to be stitched up and grieve. Her only substantial physically injury was a gash across her side, but mentally she was suffering terribly. Her and her dad had been so close... Now he was gone.
They'd returned to Beacon Hills 3 days after the attack, his body in a box, then had the funeral as soon as possible. Now, a week and a half later, she was back at work, supposedly as if nothing had changed, but some of the spark had gone out in Evans. Instead of the relaxed sprawl she usually found herself in she was just hunched in her chair at the desk, and even that brought the tone of the place down. At the sound of the bell at the door ringing she sighed and glanced up to see someone walking in.

The damn dog had splintered her leg again.
Daisy was an erratic dog at times... If by 'at times' you meant pretty much all the time, because that's just what Springer Spaniels were like, really. She was the kind of dog that would happily bound from place to place, jumping through water like it was a trampoline. She seemed to have an affinity for just bounding along like a loon, only ever really stopping to catch her breathe when she was so tired that she actually felt like sleeping.. That, or you gave her some food, because everything wound to a stop when it came to meal time. Granted, Daisy was probably a lot more trouble than she was worth - either getting a bit too friendly with dogs with obvious trust issues, or just somehow managing to be the first animal to ever break its leg my attempting to pull a branch of a tree through a stile, but Griffin loved her all the same... Even if the poor thing actually belonged to his nuts twin sister, Darcy.
It wasn't surprising, really, they were both way too over-excitable and ambitious for their own good. Despite this, Daisy only really managed to get injured whilst out with Griffin. It didn't matter what Darcy did (whether it was contemplating taking the dog parachute jumping, or something equally stupid), the dog never actually got hurt, and yet Griffin couldn't even take it on one walk through the woods without it coming home limping. Somehow, no matter how hard he tried, Griffin's Daisy days always ended with him visiting the animal clinic. Every. Single. Time.
Stubbing his cigarette out against the windowsill and dropping the dud into the grass plant plot outside, Griffin pulled the doofus dog into the clinic. Her tongue hung out of her mouth as she panted, tail wagging almost as fast as the fan that he used to plug in back in the caravan in order to keep cool in the summer months whenever they were out in Texas, or any desert state, really. Despite injuring herself, Daisy was also glad of the attention from the vets. As he walked in, the lead pulled towards the desk as Daisy bounded up towards the woman set there, somehow managing to run and limp at the same time, before jumping up at the desk, muddy paws brushing lazily over all the papers.
"Shit - sorry," Griffin exclaimed lazily, pulling the back until Daisy slipped off the desk, tail still furiously wagging. After pushing a lump of chewing gum into his mouth (even some smokers weren't a fan of smokers breath, it seemed), he lifted his gaze from the dog and smiled at the attendant, usual cheeky grin flashing across his features before he explained further - "I think I may have, y'know, broken my dog.." It wasn't much of an explanation, but Griffin truly had no idea how the hell to treat animals, or even what was wrong with them, so it was a start.

Evans watched the man walk into the clinic, wishing she wasn't there, or he wasn't there. She didn't know, she just wanted to be alone, but obviously that wasn't possible. Her mum was handling things badly, and everyone else that apparently had a job here didn't have a shift, or they were ill, or something. She'd practically decided by now the they needed to do some hiring, even if it was just temporary jobs so Evans could have some time off. After all, she wasn't only mentally hurt at the moment, she did have a physical injury which she thought she should have time off for.
Instead of dwelling on the fact that she'd have to deal with another human, she just turned her focus down to the excitable dog which was currently bounding towards her and the desk. It was then that the dog bounced up and gave the paper on the desk a nice coating of mud. She just about managed to hold in her sigh, since the guy pulled his dog back down without causing too much damage. Raising an eyebrow slightly, she glanced back up at the guy "They doesn't seem very broken" She pointed out, it was meant to be a bit of a joke, but she hadn't really made an effort to sound too friendly. Oh well. At least she hadn't completely blanked him. "Just give me a moment" She said quickly, knowing she had to keep up some kind of politeness or she'd get complaints. Then she rummaged around her messy desk for a moment, flicking through disorganized stacks of forms and doodles and random pieces of paper before she finally found what she was looking for. Passing the form over to the man she told him "Just fill this out then we'll see what we can do for your dog" She told him, grabbing a pen from the pot on her desk and giving it to him, just in case he didn't have one. Before he could turn away, though, she spoke once again "What's your name sorry?" She asked.

The lady seemed nice enough, if not a little bored. Okay, so maybe her boredom seemed pretty justified - who wouldn't be bored in a place such as this? It seemed every person that came in seemed to look perpetually bored with the place - whether it was because they seemed to be middle aged soccer mum's who only agreed to have a dog to shut their ten year old up, or old ladies who clearly only had their pet cat to keep them company through the journey of old age. Whatever, he was determined not to stay too long, merely out of pure worry that he would end up like all the boring, hopeless dead-weights he seemed to be surrounded by. The only person that didn't seem to be completely written off when it came to life was the girl working there, and even then she looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here. Then again, was that really all that surprising? He almost wanted to help her, although he wasn't actually sure how.
"Griffin - Capello," he replied with ease, vague smile pulled across his face as he reigned Daisy in before taking the paper and pen, lead wrapped around his wrist to stop the ridiculous dog from knocking anything off the desk again. After an afterthought, he quickly added, "and trust me, if she hadn't injured herself, there'd be a lot more than just mud scattered on the floor." It was true. Despite how giddy the dog was already, it was nothing compared to her usual state of mania, running and knocking things over before you could even think to tighten a grip on whatever lead she was attached to. Still, he moved to sit down, which only caused Daisy to do the opposite, now attempting to barrel towards the young girl again, yanking Griffin's arm away from him as he tried (and failed) to write. Without thinking, he dropped the lead to the floor, letting the dog loose as it padded after the receptionist, clearly determined to turn that frown upsidedown.

Capello- the name rang a bell, but she wasn't too sure where she knew it from. She was pretty sure there was a family of them in town, but whether she'd been at school with one of them, or they were hunters, or in a pack or she just knew them from mutual friends, she couldn't tell you. Taking another look at Griffin, she decided to rule out him being in a pack, he just didn't have the kind of 'werewolf-vibe' that she noticed with most other werewolves. So, that left mutual friend, school buddy or hunter to pick from. She couldn't work it out just yet, so she decided she'd have a think about it while he was filling out his form.
She glanced down at the dog again when he began talking about it, and was greeted by the wide eyed gaze of a happy looking dog. She'd dealt with a lot of dogs in her time, so the whole puppydog eyes thing had basically worn off on her, but she had to admit it was a pretty cute dog, even if it did seem to want to flatten her, or try to, anyway, she highly doubted it'd manage to do that. "Well, muds hard enough to clean, so i'm almost glad you broke her when you did" She replied with a slight smile before he walked off.
She'd just lent back in her chair to chill again, and wonder where she knew the name Capello from, but less then a minute had passed before the dog was heading towards her again. She sighed lightly, then crossed round her desk, grabbing hold of the lead to keep the dog still. She wasn't great at her job, but even she knew that they could have random animals running around the place. She sat back down, keeping hold of the dog so Griffin could write up the form in piece while his dog excitedly muddied her trousers as she tried jumping onto her lap.

She had a nice smile. He shouldn’t be thinking that, but it was true. Her smile somehow managed to make her whole face light up – the thought of happiness genuinely just making her seem more attractive than the scowl she was supporting earlier, just like every other lousy customer in the small clinic. In their defence, they didn’t have a dog quite as ridiculous as Daisy, and so it was understandable as to why they weren’t too happy right now.
Turning his attention back to filling in the form, he answered most of them with ease. Things like name, dog’s name, dog’s age, injury blahblahblahblahblah. He paused at one, however – occupation. He could understand why it was on there – formality more than anything… But that didn’t mean he actually knew how to respond. He couldn’t exactly write ‘fraudster’, since most of his money stemmed from fake credit cards and drug dealing – because he moved round far too much to ever risk actually trying to get a job. Instead, he just scribbled the word exterminator, smirking slightly at his own inside joke before moving to hand the form back, taking back Daisy as he did so.
“Just for the record, I would’ve helped you clean up after her, had she been slightly less broke… She tends to cause a mess quite a lot, so you get used to cleaning it up all again.” Not quite sure what else to say, he hovered there for a moment, not quite sure why he wanted to find a way to make her smile again, but feeling like he had to anyway. "You don't seem very broken at all" Evans mumbled as she looked at the dog, taking the time while Griffin was filling in his form and Daisy was, apparently excited just to be there with her. She glanced up as she heard steps coming towards her and saw the owner returning, so passed the lead back to him and took the form instead, beginning to glance over it to make sure he'd filed in everything he needed when he spoke again. Her eyes flickered up to him and she smirked lightly "I'm glad to hear it" She told him before looking back down to the form to carry on reading it. Raising an eyebrow when she saw that he was a 'exterminator' she could help but grin slightly. So maybe he was a hunter? It would be a good cover name. "So what do you exterminate?" She asked, unable to help herself. She filled in the few little bits she had to do on that and another form while she waited and listened to his answer.

"Uh, pests?" Griffin tried, wincing slightly as she he tried to figure out what lie he was going with this time. It was a reasonable enough response, and seemed almost truthful. It was the kind of thing that he felt like he could do, when he got older and tireder and would rather hunt bees than wolves, because he couldn't afford any more injuries to a certain area of his body... Not that he could imagine himself getting old. In his line of work, people rarely made it to fifty, never-mind actual retirement. You either started running from your hunting or you died, there was no other choice. Squatting on the floor to stroke Daisy lazily, his fingers drifted through thick fur as he bit his lip, thinking for a moment before adding, "for some reason, I feel like you expected more of me." He finished it with a smile, gaze lifting to meet hers again once again, even if the ridiculous dog was threatening to lick his ear off any time soon.

Spoils. Evans breathed out a light laugh when Griffin told her she seemed to expect more of him then what he'd told her, and it was kind of true. She hadn't expected him to tell her right off the bat that he hunted and killed werewolves and other mythical creatures for a living, but he could have come up with a more interesting lie or something. Who would pretend they killed bugs as a profession? That was so boring. But then again, that was probably the point of using it. "Well, y'know, I recognised the name Capello and hoped you'd have a more exciting job, i guess" She told him, finishing off what she was writing then looking up at him with a slight smile. She'd started off her shift wishing she didn't have to go in, but she had to admit, Griffin had cheered her up a bit. She'd forgotten that it was nice to have someone come in who actually bothered to try and have a proper conversation with her. Still, she knew he'd come in for a reason, that reason being Daisy, so she knew she should probably get back to business. "There's actually someone who could check Daisy over free in about 15 minutes, if you don't mind waiting" She offered, hoping he wouldn't suddenly become one of those people who were willing to make Evans life hell purely because everyone who could actually help him/his dog was busy for a little while.
