Evans was extremely lucky that her family a) owned the local animal clinic and b) put up with her shit. It meant that once she'd decided to drop out of high school she slipped right into a job. School was just something that she'd never found that interesting, not when she knew about everything else in the world. Plus, as she'd got older she'd done more travelling with her parents, so had fallen behind in her work. Really, it just made sense for her to drop out, so she'd done it as soon as she could with the support of her parents, of course. It was probably just convenient for them anyway.
So, here she was, older now so she wouldn't even need to be in high school anyway and sitting in the animal clinic. She knew all about the other side of both the business and the town, so every time the bell on the door ringed she was sent into wondering if they were here to adopt, or for a vet check up or something mundane, or here for some supernatural concoction. She didn't really care most of the time, though, she just gave whoever it was what they wanted and then they left. The thrill of werewolves and kitsunes and other things like them had worn away long ago now, and she'd really just grown numb to it. Even if it wasn't really the best option for them she'd still explain them through it and let them make a choice- for example, she had recently told a bright eyed girl about the nogitsune and how she could possibly use it too help her friends, or whatever, even though it could kill her if she was stupid enough to go through with it. It was her choice though, Evans would take no responsibility. Never had, never would.
Booted feet were balanced on the edge of the desk she was sitting at, idly waiting for someone to come into the clinic and entertain her for a little. She was sure someone would come in soon, it had been a pretty quiet day so far and she was determined someone would come in and liven it up a it.

This was her second home. Aside from her actual house and the acres of woods behind it, the animal clinic was her favorite place to be. She felt safe here, and served a purpose. Plus she got on quite well with the cats when others struggled to tame the creatures. Call it instinct, but she knew just how their minds worked. Noelle had started coming here as a kid, always wanting to take home every creature she spotted, and care for them the way every child had. Animals were her passion, and well, now she was one. Score on her end.
Eventually she had been able to get a internship here, basically working the clinic as a volunteer. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday she'd be cleaning kennels, walking the dogs, and occasionally sitting in on appointments as a temporary nurse. It was a blissful thing to spend her time her and just help- plus she needed the hours for school if she wanted to actually graduate. That was besides the point, though. She couldn't have worked anywhere her heart desired, but she chose here where she got to collectively talk to animals and clean up after them.
Not a bad life, really, aside from the fact that she was essentially a walking pooper scooper, but oh well.
Since school was out for winter break and Christmas was on the horizon, she figured she'd head in to help out with the number of families set on getting their precious child a puppy as a gift or to just organize files if it there was no rush of customers that day. It was really a fifty-fifty thing here, sometimes there'd be an influx of people, other days there would just be the occasional supernatural seeking answers. She always eavesdropped, eager to learn about things like her. She played stupid a lot, hiding what she was from them expertly. No one but Sammy knew and she wanted to keep it tht way.
Pulling into the parking lot with ease, she halted her vehicle and hopped out. Fixing her golden hair into a tight ponytail, she flattened down her casual wear and headed inside. Upon walking in, she noted that it was a slow day, and she'd probably be spending most of her time in the back bathing dogs, but a girl caught her attention. Normally they wouldn't catch each other here. Noelle came in later while the daughter of the owners came in whenever- normally a bit earlier in the day. So when she spotted the brunette, she diverted her path and headed to the desk. "Hey, Evans," she cooed, leaning over the counter and smiling. This was one of those places she could just be herself and not hide, "Slow day?" Small talk was her specialty.

When the door finally opened someone walked in Evans diverted her attention to the figure heading into the clinic. She took in the blonde volunteer with a quick flash of a smile; Nolle was nice most of the time, if a bit nosey, but Evans didn't mind. It was hard not to be nosey, especially when she was here so much and there was obviously something else going on, and she was pretty sure that the blonde knew about all the Supernatural business that went down here, but since she came from a family of hunters it wasn't surprising really. Plus, the girl wouldn't tell anyone about what she knew, no one would believe her and it didn't even fit into her personality.
The dark haired girl had spent most of the day just chilling, listening to music and playing solitaire which, admittedly, was a bit boring, but it kept her amused and gave her something to do that wasn't work. She had done some stuff, just not as much as she could've. Her excuse was that she'd known Nolle was coming and had wanted to save her some stuff to do (which was total bs, but no one needed to know that). "Yeah" She said, pushing herself way from the desk with her legs "But don't worry, i saved you some stuff to do" She added with a smile. She didn't feel mean saying that, as she knew that she did actually enjoy doing things here.

"Odd that it's so barren here considering it's the holidays, " she spoke up, putting off answering the second portion of what Evans had said as she glanced around the clinic. Normally this close to Christmas the place was crawling with parents in a desperate need to find something to get their children- even if the pet chosen often comes back here a few months into the year. Not everyone was fit for animal care.
Pushing herself around the counter, Noelle joined the brunette on the other side, grabbing of the rolling chairs and dragging it towards the girl. Taking a seat a few feet away from her co-worker, she settled into the plush chair and sighed. Glancing at the desk before back at Evans, she put an eager pep into her tone and asked, "So what do you have for me to do?" Work was anything but a dread. She loved it, surprisingly. From filing papers to cleaning cages, whatever kept her occupied and mind of her problems was a safe haven. She refused to be pulled down into the recesses of her mind, the abyss of family bickering and her own inner beast easily stomped out by the barking by a dog in need of attention or buried under the tapping of a keyboard. As tedious as most of the things here were, she never put up a fight doing them because they helped her in thr long run. Plus, it eased up Evans load a lot.
Noelle knew that the girl dished some of her work onto her, but she honestly didn't even mind at all. She was thankful for it. Leaning back some in her chair, she prepped her mind to retain the list of duties.

"Mmm" Was all Evans mumbled in agreement to Nolle's comment about how bare it was. Honestly she had no idea why the place was so empty considering it was the holiday. Usually it was buzzing, all hands on deck. But the work sky brunette wasn't complaining, it meant she didn't have to do as much work or deal with snotty five year olds and their parents. Humming lightly for a moment she spun around in her chair then pushed her self over to the filing cabinet. Why use your legs when you had wheels? She let her fingers hover over the draws for a moment before turning back to face Nolle, not taking anything out of the cabinet yet. "Well. You can do filing, or there's sorting out cages and that, or we can decorate the place. I mean, we have to do it all at some point, but what do you wanna do first?"

Settling into her seat with a smirk tainting naturally on her lips, Noelle felt the teasing tone flood her mouth, the taste of her words bitterly joking on her lips. "Let's save the fun stuff for later and just get to business," she was stuffed to the rim with sarcasm, feet perching against the front desk with ease not normal for most humans (which she played of with the excuse of 'oh, I was in gymnastics as a kid' when someone questioned it) as she added, "Get the decorations." Sending a playfully wink Evans way as she brought her lame joke to an end, she just chuckled at herself and glanced around the clinic's office. It really needed some livening up, for the monotonous paint and dull silence was overbearingly boring and made the place unpleasant to work in sometimes. With nothing but the howling of lonely pups and putrid scent of a job no one but herself was willing to do, the clinic sometimes was a dread to come to, but that never stopped her. Even with the poor creatures holed up in crates yipping and the tiresome duties she took out, Noelle still loved her job and wouldn't trade it for the world. Falling into her chair some as she kept her eyes on the brunette, she just smiled, ready to whip out the radio and have some fun bringing this place to life.
